Ringtones

1. iTunes

If you have an iPhone, iPod, any Apple ‘i’ product, you

have probably heard of iTunes. With the introduction of
iTunes version 7.4, users have been able to add custom
ringtones to their iPhone. iTunes makes it easy to purchase
30 second ringtones through their ringtone tab and
download them to your iPhone. Once you sync your iPhone
with iTunes, all you have to do is set it as your ringtone.

For you to use iTunes for this purpose, you must purchase
each ringtone separately, even if you have purchased the
full version of the song. This has upset many iPhone users
because they have to pay for the same song twice!

iPhone Download World has found some great software

programs that allow you to take any song from your
computer and convert it easily to your iPhone.

2. iPhoneRingToneMaker – For WINDOWS

iPhoneRingToneMaker allows you to create your very own

ringtone form any .mp3 .wav .oog files in you music
library. It coverts them into a ringtone then automatically
transfers them to your iTunes or your iPhone so you can set
your songs to each of your friends.

This program allows you to fade in / fade out your

ringtones. It also has a feature to add cool sound effects and
accuracy of up to a hundredth of a second. This is for
Windows 2000, XP, or Vista ONLY. Download the trial
version for free to make sure it works for you.

3. iToner – For MAC

iToner is designed for the Mac and makes it simple to

quickly transfer your custom ringtones to your iPhone.
You don’t need to modify, hack, or reset your iPhone with
iToner. This supports any .mp3 .acc .wav or .aiff format
and must be a MAC OS X 10.4.10 or later.

This makes transferring ringtones a snap, just drag, drop

and sync. The only downfall of this program is that you
need to have any music editing software to edit down the
song to the 30 second iPhone limit. This is a standard limit
to all iPhones.

Text Messaging

4. Teleflip

This is a text message utility for your iPhone that allows

you to send FREE text messages. The person you are
sending the text message will get their standard text
message fee.

All you have to do is send an email to <friends’ phone-

number>@teleflip.com. Here is an example
8135550123@teleflip.com. It will automatically be sent as
a text message to your friends phone number.

By using the Teleflip service and the wireless carrier, it will

take some time to reach your recipient. Messaging this way
will not be instantaneous as with normal text messaging.
You will also not receive any confirmation that the text
message was received. This works with the following
carriers: Qwest, t-mobile, AT&T, Verizon, Amp’d,
Sprint/Nextel, Boost, Alltel, Virgin, Suncom, Cellular
South, nTelos, Midwest Wireless, US Cellular

5. More Free Text Messages

Cellphone carriers allow you to send an email to a specific

address which will convert it to a text message for your
friends’ carrier.

The email address is different for each carrier so we have

created a list to help you use it. For our example, we will

6 http://www.iphonedownloadworld.com
use the phone number (813)-555-0123, which is the phone
number of your friend that you wish to text message. You
can add the email address of each carrier as a second email
address in your Contact to make this an easy process.

Carrier Example Email Address

Alltel 8135550123@message.alltel.com
AT&T 8135550123@txt.att.net (text)
8135550123@mms.att.net (MMS)
Boost Mobile 8135550123@myboostmobile.com
Cricket 8135550123@mms.mycricket.com
Metro PCS 8135550123@mymetropcs.com
Nextel 8135550123@messaging.nextel.com
Qwest 8135550123@qwestmp.com
Sprint 8135550123@messaging.sprintpcs.com
T-Mobile 8135550123@tmobail.net
US Cellular 8135550123@mms.uscc.net
Verizon 8135550123@vtext.com (text)
8135550123@vzwpix.com (MMS)
Virgin Mobile 8135550123@vmobl.com

You won’t have to pay to use these services, but the

recipient will have to pay for incoming text messages. If
you can cut your text messaging in half that can really help!

Safari

6. Wide Keyboard

Did you know that you could have your iPhone keyboard
rotated to landscape view? You can in Safari, but that is the
only place. When you start Safari rotate your iPhone before
you do anything else, i.e. tap the web address bar or click
on any links or text boxes. This makes the keyboard appear
across the entire length of the screen making it easier to hit
the keys with your fingers.

7. See the Full Link

Typically when you tap on a link in Safari you go directly

to that link. If you hold your finger, instead of tap, a link
bubble appears that will display the full URL that you are
about to navigate to. This also works with images on a
website.

8. iClueless

iClueless is designed specifically for the iPhone and the

iTouch. What is it you ask? iClueless is a one of a kind
search portal that will put the world’s information at the
touch of your fingertips, literally. It allows you to search
for any information you need at anytime, whether it’s the
closest Starbucks or Panera, latest sports scores, weather, or
whatever you want.

iClueless has the option to search the full website or the

mobile version. This even works if you are not in a WiFi
hotspot. It uses the 2G network that the iPhone runs on,
with blazing fast speeds. Just wait to see it on the 3G
network!

To use iClueless, just download it from the Apps Store.

Backups

9. Why back up?

Every time you sync your iPhone with iTunes, it creates a

backup of your information including: Setting, Text
Messages, Notes, Contact favorites, and Call history. It
does not back up passwords, photos, videos, or songs. This
information is synced with other applications that you may
have on you computer

There are versions of a free MobileSyncBrowser that are

available for both Windows and Mac. To see what you
have in your data backup you must download the
MobileSyncBrowser.

General Battery

10. Turn off Wi-Fi

When you aren’t in a Wi-Fi network area, you iPhone is

going to be constantly searching for a network. This
searching will consume precious power. By going to
Settings>Wi-Fi>On/Off you can turn this off and also stop
those annoying pop up boxes that ask if you want to join a
network.

11. Music EQ

When you are listening to your favorite songs on your

iPhone, it is using the audio equalization just like a car or
home stereo. The only difference is that when you are using
it on your iPhone, it creates a lot of extra processing power
which will drain your battery faster. To turn it off go to
Settings>iPod>EQ

12. Auto Check Mail

The iPhone is set by default to check for new mail every

15, 30, or 60 minutes. By searching for a signal, it is
consuming battery power. To disable this feature go to
Settings>Mail>Auto-Check.

13. Display Light

The display, when bright, will consume a lot of battery

power. Simply go to Settings>Brightness and adjust it
there. You can also put your finger over the sensor right by
the earpiece to keep it dim when you power it on.

14. Magnets

MAGNETS ARE BAD!!! Keep you iPhone away from

magnets. There have been cases where magnets have killed
many iPhones. This can be the case when you put your
iPhone on a checkout counter or near big speakers.

15. Scratches

The iPhone can scratch very easily, even with some cases.
A way to take care of those small scratches on your iPhone
is to use a fairly new product called iDrops. This product
has worked very well for the iPhone, iPod, and iTouch. Just
a little drop, wipe down, and a shiny like-new finish.

You can purchase iDrops at Amazon. This link will take

you to Amazon’s page for iDrops.

Order yours.
