Dear Madam or Sir:
I am applying for a GIS Analyst/Photo Interpreter position. Possessing a certifi
cate in geographic information systems, I am eager to pursue a career that invol
ves land cover/use mapping and the construction of digital elevation models.
My role as a Geospatial Technician III for Sanborn Map Company involved the onsc
reen digitization of point and area features through aerial image interpretation
. Polygons of roads, water bodies, eligible areas and structures were extracted
and inventoried into the GIS database. Individual Areas of Interest (AOI's) unde
rwent a mosaicking process in order to generate more expansive terrain coverages
. By visualizing both the natural and man-made alterations of a particular lands
cape, I was able to compare and detail how land cover use and management had cha
nged over time. I then electronically relayed this data to the Iowa State resear
ch office to be verified. The planimetric maps I produced are used by many clien
ts, including the USDA and USGS. My previous experience using ERDAS and the ESRI
suite will enhance my ability to perform tasks, which will include building ort
homosaics and evaluating new software technologies.
I would be very interested in scheduling an interview and learning more about th
e position. Thank you in advance for your consideration.
Sincerely,
Enclosure
