OBJECTIVE:
Product/mechanical/design engineer position in manufacturing/research and develo
pment environment.
PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE SUMMARY:
Over 15 years of mechanical engineering experience, involving new product develo
pment, layout work, preliminary, production and structural design, procurement,
engineering and project reports, engineering and design reviews, fabrication and
installation of equipment within various fields of industry. Provided and coord
inated the development of necessary drawings, product structure and operations f
or manufacture of product after engineering release. Provided liaison work betwe
en designers and installers, monitoring and assessing first article installation
s.
Developed system specifications, performing engineering design and cost optimiza
tions, assisting in the design of prototypes, as well as interacting with other
mechanical designers, technicians and vendors on issues involving production rel
ated matters. Developed solutions to product problems reported by manufacturing
or from the field.
Additional expertise in operating SolidWorks, CATIA V4, MicroCADAM, AutoCAD and
AS/400 systems.
ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
Developed product designs into economical, manufacturable units to meet standard
s of function, aesthetics, safety and profit in the office furniture industry. D
esigned parts for injection molding, dye casting, stamping and wire forming for
office chairs and tables.
Redesigned packaging for office tables and chairs that resulted in 20% shipping
charge savings.
Participated intensively in the design and implementation/installation of an air
stair door, creating a very compact mechanism allowing a full size window, room
for a corporate interior, as well as an exterior look desired for corporate airc
raft.
Participated in the successful redesign of the air conditioning ducting system f
or the Coast Guard helicopter, which resulted in weight reduction by 30%, increa
sed efficiency of operation, reduced maintenance and exceeded customer requireme
nts.
Designed an emergency window into a side panel as replacement for a previously s
ealed door, which reduced weight and improved aesthetics and created a more plea
sing appearance for the corporate aircraft (365N1, N2).
Participated in the design/redesign of instrument panels for HC-130 (H) N aircra
ft, ASTAR and Dauphin helicopters to accommodate new and upgraded avionics equip
ment, NVIS compatible lighting, EFIS avionics system, FLIR monitor, and conversi
on from VFR to IFR configuration.

Successfully solved fit problem on standard wire striker kit, which resulted in
savings of coasts for shipping back to the vendor, reduced cycle time for correc
tion to meet delivery schedule and avoid penalty costs.
Redesigned avionics rack which resulted in weight reduction in excess of 25% as
well as easier installation and maintenance accessibility.
Participated in the redesign of baggage compartment extenders to reduce vendor c
osts and increase quality and further resulted in an increase in cargo capacity
with minimal impact on aircraft performance.
Designed and drafted monitoring instrumentation such as serial input self-contai
ned and distributed annunciators, alarm filters, electronic horns, and various e
vent recording systems for process, petroleum and power industries.
