GIS Specialist, MIRATEK, Fort Bliss, Texas Aug
ust 2008 - December 2009
A Civilian Contractor working at Ft. Bliss for the Environmental Conservation de
partment.
* Worked to ensure that the GIS data complied met with the Army data standards,
Spatial Data Standards for Facilities, Infrastructure, and Environment (SDSFIE)
data structure.
* Converted the DPW's as built CAD drawings into GIS data format and imported th
e data into the Installation's SDE. Updated and maintained the existing GIS data
(buildings, roads, vegetation, etc.) to match up with the current aerial imager
y, CAD documentation, and per the Subject Matter Expert's (SME) advice.
* Spatial analysis of the GIS data was conducted to help support the Fort Bliss
Mission.
* Statistical extraction from digital GIS data or imagery, hydrologic modeling a
nd spatial analysis was conducted.
* Ensure all GIS data created and maintained meets with the Federal Geographic D
ata Committee (FGDC) current standards.
* Assisted on special projects including but not limited to FEMA, Wildfire analy
sis, Geology, and Hydrography.
* Worked alongside the Range Liaison to help coordinate field crews for proper a
nd safe access onto the installation area.
* Performed QA\QC on all data to ensure attribute and feature accuracy of the GI
S data topology.
* Prepared deliverables for the client in formats of enterprise and personal geo
database, shapefiles and/or map documents.

* Outside contractor at El Paso Electric assisted in the Engineering Support div
ision with updating and maintaining the GIS database.

* Worked with a Social dynamic modeling program using Transims(R) in cooperation
with Los Alamos National Laboratory.
* Coordinated, organized and directed field crews in a project for the New Mexic
o State Engineer's office. Field work involved compiling data of known wells, me
eting with property owners, cross country navigation and investigation of unmapp
ed wells. Field data were collected using Trimble GPS units. Field photos were
also collected and then hyperlinked in ArcMap.
* Researched and Field verified cell phone tower locations in Southern New Mexic
o for the State of New Mexico, Taxation property tax division. Field data were c

* Digitized, edited, and used to spatial analyst to convert paper plat maps into
digital form for several New Mexico counties.
* Researched, compiled and prepared a transportation feasibility and cost analys
is study for a bus shuttle system to run between Gallup, NM and Albuquerque, NM.
