Electronic Tech II
Duties: Work independently on routine & repetitive assignments, e.g. maintain,
troubleshooting,
testing & repairing communication electronic equipment of limited design &
functional
complexity using basic theory of electronics. Assists higher graded employees in
the more complex overhaul, troubleshooting, repair, installation, modification,
alignment
refrubishment, & maintenance of communication-electronic equipment & systems.
Detailed
understanding of the interrelationships of circuits. Can read and interpret
electronic
schematics and instructive materials. Perform complex diagnosis and repair
electronic
systems and components. Exercise independent judgment in performing such tasks
as
making circuit analysis, calculating wave forms, and tracing relationships in
signal
flow, fault analysis, repair, and calibration techniques. Make further tests as
needed
and alignments to insure that the completed equipment is aligned and functioning
properly. Used complex test equipment such as frequency generators,
oscilloscopes,
spectrum analyzers, distortion analyzers, and complex computer control
equipment.
Possess excellent soldering skills. Worked on and repaired all Sincgars Icom
ground
radios and equipment, such as all RT radios, VAA Amp Adapters, and VRC Amps.
Trained
on (ANCD) AN/CYZ-10 both as operatior and as NCS, on all equipment being
employed.
Am proficient in the performance of all operator tasks both primary and
specialized.
Removes & replaces defective components, modules, & assemblies that have been
identified
by Electronic Mechanics or automatic test equipment (ATE) as being defective ;
operate
automatic test equipment which has been programmed to a type of chassis,
connector,
or circuit card to isolate or locate defective components. Follow detailed
schematics,
wiring diagrams, layout diagrams, blueprints, & work instructions to
troubleshoot
& repair electronic equipment; also works as a member of a team performing work
at
the depot. Experience using hand tools, power tools, and test equipment such as
digital
voltmeters, digital and analog ohmmeters, multi-meters, soldering stations,
power
screwdrivers, basic hand tools such as cutters, wire strippers, screwdrivers,
wrenches,
soldering irons, and heatguns. Receives work assignments from team leader or
floor
supervisors daily. Possess regular human characteristics such as good hand-eye
coordination,
normal visual color perception, and safe body movement practices such as
sitting,
standing, lifting, bending, and kneeling. I work independently on selecting test
equipment, locating malfunctions, and completing necessary repairs. I also use
schematics,
test layouts, technical manuals, insepection standards, block diagrams, and
standard
operating procedures to guide in making decisions. I possess the ability to
distinguish
colors and shades of colors for color code references. I currently receive work
assignments
in the form of work orders or oral instructions from supervisor, leader or
higher
graded mechanics. I am capable of performing various duties such as identifying,
isolating, and repairing defects in electronics components of moderate
complexity.
I inspect devices that are disassebles for troubleshooting purposes. I conduct
visual
and functional inspections, diagnose malfunctions and troubleshoot to determine
root
of problem. I make determinations on whether equipment is repairable or not
serviceable,
and advise leader or higher grade mechanic accordingly. Voluntered to support a
CEER-T
mission at FT. Riley and received a certificate of appreciation from Thomas A.
Parker,
LTC, LG 3/407th, AFSBn Commander. Service functionally independent components of
moderate complexity or a system of limited complexity. Install modify, overhaul,
maintain, troubleshoot, and repair complex electronics equipment and a complete
operational
system (s) consisting of numerous complex integral components which require
knowledge
of a wide range of electronics principles and practices. Example of systems
worked
on are closed circuit color TV studio, communications security (COMSEC) systems.
Apply a comprehensive knowledge of operating electronic principles such as
circuit
elements, digital logic, microprocessors, core memory, interface circuits,
digital
data transmission, microwave, atennas, signal behavior, amplifacation, and
display.
Troubleshoot, install, repair, and maintain malfunctions in complex electronic
systems
where circuit theory must be used to understand the operation of individual
circuits,
and the possible interaction of other circuits which create a malfunction. Able
to
understand the interaction of a number of complex, interrelated circuits such as
timing circuits, pulse forming networks, etc. to determine the cause of a
malfunction.
Apply extensive knowledge of electromechanical servo systems, pneumatics,
hydraulics,
and mechanical and electric motor systems for atenna control. Skill in
interpreting
complex drawings, specifications, and schematics of complex systems to recognize
the function and interconnections of the various assemblies and troubleshoot the
system from the schematic, following signal paths through a complex path of
interconnections
of components, assemblies, subassemblies, and connecting cable harnesses. Have
skill
to modify systems by adding, altering, or removing components in order to
standardize
or alter the purpose of the equipment or to incorporate new features developed
since
the equipment was manufactured. Knowledge of mathematical formulas for
electronic
calculations such as power output, voltage levels, current flow, etc. Knowledge
of
circuit elements, digital logic circuits, integrated circuits, microprocessors,
timing
circuits, pulse-code modulation circuits, and signal behavior. Skill in the use
of
a variety of test instruments: voltmeters, digital meters, oscilloscope, network
analyzer , spectrum analyzer, hy-pot testers, automatic test equipment (ATE),
and
