Legacy Rituals
1
Three rituals are required to unlock all the abilities of Wyvern Sting.

Hunter in the Dark: You must stalk and kill at least one drow whose Challenge Rating is at least equal
to your character level, initiating the conflict without first being detected. Both mundane and magical
forms of concealment are acceptable. If the would-be target detects you prior to your first attack, the ritual
fails.
Cost: 3,250 gp. Feat Granted: Least Legacy (Wyvern Sting): Level 5- Level 10 Abilities

Purity of Enmity: Echoing the tale of Imecia and Kireesha, you have to travel to the ruins of the temple
of Shevarash where the fateful prophet was sent from. From there you must travel the three-day journey
to the Underdark exit where Imecia and her rangers encountered the prophet. There you must execute any
Drow whom you encounter for one day. Peaceful interaction with a dark elf within the past six months
will cause the ritual to automatically fail.
Cost: 27,000 gp. Feat Granted: Lesser Legacy (Wyvern Sting): Level 11-Level 16 Abilities

Legacy of Imecia: Alone, you must kill a spiderlike demon (such as a bebilith or retriever) and a cleric
of Lolth. The demon must have a Challenge Rating of 10 or higher, while the cleric must be 10th level or
higher -- an Encounter Level of 12 or more. You can use any abilities at your disposal, but Wyvern Sting
is the only weapon you are allowed.
Cost: 76,000 gp. Feat Granted: Greater Legacy (Wyvern Sting): Level 17-Level 20 Abilities

Legacy Item Abilities

All the following are legacy item abilities of Wyvern Sting.

Drowseeker (Su): At 5th level and higher, while wielding Wyvern Sting, you can detect any drow within
60 feet, although you must concentrate (a standard action) to do so. The bow ignores any damage
reduction a drow possesses.

Eyes of Shadow (Sp): Beginning at 6th level, once per day on command, you can use darkvision as the
spell. Once per day on command, you can use see invisibility as the spell. Caster level 5th.

Longstrider (Sp): At 8th level and higher, three times per day on command, you can use longstrider as
the spell. Caster level 5th.

the save is successful, the arrow does not poison but normal damage modifiers still apply. If the target
fails the save DC, they are paralyzed for 1d4 rounds.

drow. Starting at 12th level, two times per day on command, you can use lesser restoration as the spell

Shocking Shot (Su): Beginning at 14th level, as a standard action, you can imbue an arrow nocked on
Wyvern Sting with electricity. If your shot with this arrow hits, the arrow deals an extra 5d6 points of

2
electricity damage. Save DC 16 for half damage. This ability can be used five times per day, and a use is
wasted if the charged arrow misses.

Deny the Demonweb Pits (Sp): Lolth's servants have many powerful allies in the Abyss. At 16th level
and higher, you gain a measure of defense against them. Two times per day on command, you can use
protection from evil as the spell. Caster level 10th.

Escape the Spider's Bonds (Su): Webs and other entanglements hold no more fear for a wielder of
Wyvern Sting. Starting at 17th level, you constantly benefit from the effects of freedom of movement
while you hold the bow in hand. Caster level 15th.

Mindarmor (Su): At 18th level, you gain a +3 insight bonus on Will saving throws to resist mind-

poison. Percentile roll 1-50 the arrow does not poison, 51-100 the arrows poisons. The save DC is 18. If
the save is successful, the arrow does not poison but normal damage modifiers still apply. If the target
fails the save DC, the poison deals an extra 3d6 damage for 1d4 rounds.

Pierce the Black Heart (Su): You and Wyvern Sting become the ultimate expression of Imecia's fury. At
20th level and higher, once per day, you can fire an arrow from Wyvern Sting that kills any evil-aligned
creature struck by it, as if by a finger of death spell. You must declare that you are using this ability
before making the attack. If the arrow misses, the effect is wasted for the day. The save DC is 20. If the
save fails, the target creature is slain. If the save is successful, the target creature loses half its HP. If this
loss of HP will kill it, it instead drops to 1 HP. Drow get no saving throws! Caster level 15th.

History
Imecia, Queen of Man (Centuries ago)
3
Shevarash is the elven deity of revenge and hatred of the Drow. Once, he was a mortal elf, famous as one
of the finest archers in the world. When drow raiders attacked his village and slaughtered his family,
Shevarash foreswore his former life, vowing to never rest until the drow were purged from the world.
Shevarash slew many dark elves, gaining infamy as the "Black Archer" in drow folklore, before he was
finally captured and slain. Upon Shevarash's death, Corellon Larethian granted him the spark of the
divine, transforming him into a minor deity (DC 15). After Shevarash's passing and apotheosis, the bow
he carried as a mortal was lost for centuries, probably locked away in the treasure vaults of the drow
priestess who had killed the Black Archer.

Three hundred years after Shevarash was made into a deity, Wizard-Queen Imecia, wife to King Theron
and a devoted follower of Shevarash, began a crusade to recover the holy bow. Her hatred for the Drow
ran deep for their attacks on her people and lands. She, along with Underdark-knowledgeable rangers,
ventured into the underground lairs of the Drow. Striking from the shadows and never allowing
themselves to be detected, Imecia slew every dark elf she came across. (DC 18; Hunter in the Dark)

Imecia succeeded in recovering the legendary and now holy bow, Wyvern Sting, and she journeyed
toward the surface with it. As she and her rangers traveled upward, they met a Drow woman -- an exile
named Kireesha -- and were forced to cooperate with her to destroy a nest of beholders occupying tunnels
they both had to cross. As the group worked together, hatred gave way to grudging respect, then to
admiration, and finally to love. Imecia and Kireesha performed a Drow “ritual of sisterhood” before
parting ways, bonding them as tightly to one another as if they had grown up together. As they finally
surfaced, they were met by a prophet of Shevarash, who said the god was angry for her daring to use his
bow in consorting with one of the hated Drow. The prophet foretold her husband’s death by deceit of the
Drow. She hurried to King Theron’s side, but years went by and they forgot the prophecy. The king’s
most trusted friend, a man whose name has been expunged from all histories of the time, known only as
“The Betrayer,” made a pact with the Drow and began to tear the kingdom apart from within. The Drow
attacked the kingdom by surprise. King Theron dueled “The Betrayer” to the death but was slain. The
Betrayer was captured and cursed to ever watch over King Theron’s tomb. (DC 25; Purity of Enmity)

After her husband’s death, Queen Imecia mustered the remaining forces and called upon elven allies. She
led the charge into the Drow forces carrying Wyvern Sting. With the weapon's help, she led the mustered
allied forces to victory and brought rest to the land once more. She rested only to see her husband buried
and enshrined. The victory did very little to quench her hatred of the Drow and her thirst for vengeance.
She led a larger group of rangers into the Underdark. She was so driven with a lust for revenge she
attacked with reckless abandon, and did not use the stealth and care she had employed her first time in the
Drow home-world. Many Drow died from her vicious onslaught, but her numbers were dwindling, and
she and her band quickly found themselves outnumbered. She was finally slain in a battle against a
hideous spider demon conjured by Drow priestesses. Wyvern Sting was lost once again, presumably
carried back into the dark places of the earth by the retreating dark elves. (DC 31; Legacy of Imecia)

Her Body was entombed next to her beloved husband, and she was buried with Banrhialorg, the staff
given her by King Theron on their wedding day.
