Job Description

Duties and Responsibilities

Admits and discharges the patients.

Maintain personal hygiene and comforts of the patients.
Attends to the nutritional needs of the patients.
Maintains clean and safe environment for the patients.
Co-ordinates patient care with various health team members.
Follows doctor’s rounds.
Performs technical tasks. e.g. administration of medications, assisting doctor
in various medical procedure, preparing articles and patient for medical or
nursing procedures, recording vital signs, tube feeding giving enema, bowel
wash, stomach wash, wound dressing, collection and sending of specimen,
pre and post operative care.
Assisting administration of transfusion, pre and postnatal care, breast care

Helps doctors in diagnosis and treatment.
Maintains intake and output chart.
Observes change in patient’s condition and records, takes necessary action
and reports to the concerned authority.
Imparts health education to the patients and their family.
Accompanies patients to other departments or transferred to other
