My name is Htavara. I was born 1984 january12 in Iawaddy Papun Township Tavoy Village.

I passed grade 4 in government school in 1992 and became Ashin-mea ning Monk -in the kapital of Burma;Rangoon. In 1998 I passed an important Buddhist exam and went to Mandalay for higher studies.Here I graduated in 2002. 2003 in noe of the years when Burmese democracy leader Nbel Peace price winner Aung San Suu Kyi was realeased feom house arrest.She traveled tothe big city Mandalay to meet the peole of her country,and was meet by more than 100,000 people in the strets.

The millitary junta puniskhed people who showet solidarity With our democracy leader and als tolk my exam papers as a consequence of my personal meeting With her. I had been inviter to the house of my close friend Mya May Win -the leader of the party National league for Denocracy (NLD)in Mandalay to meet Aung Sun Suu Kyi who is general secretary of NLD. As I could not continue my studies,I traveled to the Buddhist religions headquarter in yangoon to offer my help in social Work.From here I Was sent tothe border to Bangladesh and India to teach Buddism, and distribute food and medicin i the periode

2004to2006.

In the first half of 2007 I Went to Iawaddy to stay With my family .In June I went to Yangoon to study English and computer. 5.th of September military personal beatet2monks.That made the Buddhist cmmunity very angry Me and my monk colleges made and distributed leaflets demanding an appologise from the military junta. No appologise came and we organiser demonstrations from september 17th. When people saw the courage of the monks they als asked Them to raise the problems of high prices on food and to lead to more demonstrations.for the leadership of this assignment we formed the All Burma Monks Representative Committee With me as Secretary General.

Unitl26th we lead peacefull demonstrations and pralers With hundreds of thousands of people in the strets.But the military trops stopped us With force and killed abort 80 people,injured 1000and 30,000 people wire arrested during the next days. During this peiod I publicly distributed leaflets,gave speaches to the Burmese people and interviews to international news agencies and appearad on television and news papers world wide. On the26the. Authority officials came to me and other committee memoers to ask us to stop the demonstrations.We said that we would ageree if they lowered the prices on food ang gave an official appologise for the beting of monks that had started our demonstrations. The officials refugesed and stared to shoot into the more than 5people can meet in public during day time.

In the evening of 26th the authorities raided a monestary Monks wire beaten,shot at and arrested.As I heard abort that I deciderd to leave the monestary where I lived and to a friends house. I was luscky because on the 27th.authorities acme to more monestaries including mine .They wanted to arrest me. The leader to my momnestary had to sign a paper promising that he would retort if I would return to the monestry.During the search of my monestry the official confiscated my belongings. In the following days. The protests and shooting continued,I was only 40meters from the japanere journalist who got killed by guvernement soldiers.The masses got scared and less and less people acme to the strets.

On Sptember30.in the opposition we descided that it was to dangerous to continue. In Aungust2007 student leaders from the nationwide uprising in 1988had pronstrated in the strets of yangoon.They got arrested,had on legal trial and got more than 50 years of imprissonment. I did not want to risk that and left Yangoon to hide at the border where the government does not have so much Control. No October25th the Government advertised in the newspaper that I was a wanted person.In November another monk demonstration leader was arrested to leave the country.My friend got 68yearss of prisen. I arrived in Bangladesh January 22nd 2008.On the next day I applyed for asylum With the UNHCR.Amnesty International has supported this request. I stayesty in Sittagong when Burmese Intelligence acme to my house and tilred to convince me to I come back to Burma.I refused And I think that it is as a consequence of thins,that since february 2008my parents has been in a kind of house arrest where they have to retort to the authorities one time a month.and that family memoers lost their jobs.After the visit of the Burmese intellingence to my home in Bangladesh,the Bangladesh Intelligence started to come to my house.Bangladesh intelligente asid that I should stop my political activities in Bangladesh or else their relationship to the Burmese intelligente would suffer,and they would have to send to send me back to Burma.

I fearrd that the cooperation between the intelligente of Burma and Bangladesh could lead to my deportation back into Burma and imprissonment there.I reported that to UNHCR in Bangladesh, but had no realand and in June 2010 I decided to leave for India.I had trips to leave Bangladesh for my safety and hoved that the niagboud country India could provide me With safety, I applied for asylun in India With the UNHCR june 22nd2009and lived in new Delhi.June2010 I travelled to back into Burma and in September 2010 I went to Japan.Both trips meet political and religions colleguse and discuss for the futur of Burma.for that reason in March 2010 I have an India passport made.

I came back to India from Japan on the 3rd of November 2010.November7th there was an election in Burma.It was arrangerd by the military to give the regime international acknowledgement.In January 2011UNHCR in India annouced that they

will send all Burmese refugees back to Burma.But the election was not demcratic, the regime has not changes and my life is still not safe in Burma. The purising in Burma in 2007 is called the safaron Revolution. My role here is known all over the world because a Danish film maker collected dokumentation in the movie called Burma VJ.The movie has won more than 40 international prices and was nominated for an Oscar in 2010.The movie Burma VJ created a olt of critisism on the Burmese Governnent.And as the movie dokuments that I have a leading role in protesting the government it has become even more dangerous for me to go home to Burma.

Until now I have not found safety in my escape from the Burmese military regime . But With the movie Burma VJ I can see that Denmark has played an enormes role in distributing information abort the brutal regime in Burma,and I have the great impression that Denmark is the coury that is ready to give me asfety and asylum. I have the chance to attend Forum of Burmses in Europe on 12th and 13th of february 2011.Hereby I alos got the chance for a visa out of India where i on longer feel safe from deportation to Burma.I arrived in Denmark on the 15th by bus from Norway. Unfortunately i fell and hurt my leg in Norway and also catched a flue and had high temperature.Therefor I stayer at my friends place until I could come to seek asylym.
