Ulster County Lands Chinese Portable Power Products Firm

Kingston, NY (June 20, 2011) The Ulster County Development Corporation (UCDC) announced today that Hali-Power, a Chinese portable power products firm, has signed a lease in West Hurley and has already begun doing business and engaging with the community. The lease was secured by Dan LeFever, an agent with commercial broker, Deegan Sanglyn. Hali-Powers President is Lilian Zhang. UCDC President, Lance Matteson, hailed the news as a vindication of the Countys China business initiative, which promotes local exports to China and seeks to attract Chinese capital and business to Ulster County. The New York State Small Business Development Center and its Mid-Hudson regional office have been instrumental in leading the initiative. The Ulster County Regional Chamber of Commerce has also supported the initiative, which started with workshops and a trip to China in 2009. Matteson noted, Hali-Power is an exciting business, patiently acquiring an official Apple license for its China plant and following an innovation-driven Google-like business model that goes directly to the consumer. That this niche company chose to locate in Ulster County is gratifying and promising. We expect at least six jobs to be created short term, with the potential for significant growth.
