How to Apply

VISA PROCESSING TIME NORMALLY TAKES ABOUT 10 WORKING DAYS. PLEASE PLAN ACCORDINGLY. I - STEP BY STEP ON HOW TO APPLY FOR A VISA: 1. Before applying, please check the General Rules and Information 2. First thing to do is to fill out an application form electronically in the websitehttps://scedv.serpro.gov.br . Please read the instructions carefully before filling out the form. They will tell you how to proceed and which documents you should bring to the Embassy. - The applicant is strongly advised to personally fill out his form, as to avoid the processing of wrong data, which may cause inconveniences with the immigration or other law agencies in Brazil. 3. After you fill out the form, you will be requested to print out a confirmation form. Sign it, glue your photo on the appropriate place and bring it to the Embassy together with your passportand other documents according to the type of visa you are applying for. - In case of minors under 18 years old, both parents must sign the visa application form. - Photos should be recent and of good quality, sized 5cm x 4cm, front view, white background, all facial features should be clearly visible . Snapshots, computer pictures, touched up photographs are not accepted. 4. To compl ete the application process, it is necessary to bring to the Embassy all required documentation . This can be done: - Personally, by a friend or relative, or by an agent; - Please note that we do not accept visa requests by mail nor by email . You may only submit your application in person/friend/relative or through an agency. - All communication from India, addressed to the Embassy must be in original only. - All photocopies submitted must be clear, legible and valid. - All letter's presented to the Embassy from India and/or Brazil should have the name , designation, department and contact number below the signature of the Authorized signatory. 5. Additionally, please attach photocopies of any previous Brazilian Visas. 6. Each visa request should also have a covering letter signed by the applicant and addressed to the Embassy giving details of the proposed trip. 7. Payment - Also, you will have to bring the bank deposit slip for the processing, or handling fees, as applicable, alongside with your application form.

A notarized letter of consent, signed by the parent not traveling with the minor, or by both parents if the minor is traveling alone (if the minor is traveling with both parents this letter is not necessary if both the parents sign the visa application form and all names appear on the itinerary and both parents are applying for the visa at the same time). Immunization record for polio for children between ages of three months and six years If the child cannot be inoculated, bring a notarized letter from the child's physician.

Who is eligible: Scientists, Professors, Technicians or Professionals of other categories with a work contract and also: y Professionals traveling to render service to the Brazilian Government in relation to an international contract, convention or treaty of which Brazil is a part and recognized by the Ministry of External Relations (RN 35/99 CNIg). Volunteers and social workers without employment contract and payment, engaging in community work or rendering service to a religious institution (RN 47/00 CNIg). To provide technical assistance in relation to a contract, cooperation agreement, convention or similar instruments signed by the foreign entit y or in case of urgency or emergency.(RN 61/04 CNIg). For professional training immediately after completing of a technical school or university course, without a work contract (RN 37/99 CNIg). An employee of a foreign company being posted as a trainee in the subsidiary or Brazilian branch of the company, whose remuneration will be paid exclusively abroad by the foreign company ( RN 42/99 CNIg). Professor travelling to Brazil for training in an institute of foreigh languages (RN 41/99 CNIg).

Ship Crew member of foreign vessels operating in Brazilian territorial waters by a contract signed with the Brazilian company to provide services or or risk (RN 58/03 CNIg). Ship Crew members of foreign fishing vessels rented by Brazilian companies ( RN 59/04 CNIg). Ship crew members and other professionals who exercise remunerative actiities on board cruise ships plying along the Brazilian coast, Amazon basin or any inland waters (RN 51/02 CNIg).

IMPORTANT: GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS y y This visa is issued only after authorization is received from Division of Immigration Brazil. The Embassy of Brazil in New Delhi does not process same day visas. It usually takes from 1 to 2 working days to process your application once approval is got from Brazil. During high season (M ay to July / Oct to Feb) processing times may increase significantly. Please plan accordingly. Visas must be used within 90 days from the date they are issued or they become void and are good for multiple entries for the duration of the visa. Visas are officially valid from the date of first entry in Brazil. Please attach photocopies of any previous Brazilian Visas. Once the application has been submitted for visa, the applicant/travel agent will have to wait for the mandatory 24 hours before making any enquiry. All communication from India, addressed to the Embassy must be in original only. All photocopies submitted must be clear, legible and valid. Applicants are advised to obtain the international vaccination certificates, however please check for vaccination information about yellow fever and antipolio shots. Applicants are advised to obtain the international vaccination certificates. All letters presented to the Embassy from India and/or Brazil must have the name , designation, department and contact nu mber below the signature of the Authorized signatory. All documents from Brazil, must be notarised in Brazil and submitted with the original notarial seal visible. Applicants must present themselves along with the visa application form given to them by the Embassy for registration with the Federal Police in Brazil within 30 days of arrival.

Once this Embassy has been authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Relations then you are required to present the following:

Two visa application forms down loaded, printed back to back,filled out in blue ink and duly signed by the applicant only (both parents must sign application forms for those under 18 years old). Two recent 2 x 2 passport-photos, front view, white backgro und. Snapshots and computer pictures are not accepted. Passport (valid for a minimum of One Year at the time of submission, and with at least two blank pages available for the visa stamp) with a photocopy of the first 2 pages and last page. Letter from the Indian company addressed to the Embassy requesting the visa. Police clearance (PCC) duly attested by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi. Health certificate, duly attested by the Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi. Immunization record for polio for children between ages of three months and six years If the child cannot be inoculated, bring a notarized letter from the child's physician. Polio certificate/letter must be duly attested by the Ministry of External Affairs, Patiala House, New Delhi.

VOLUNTEERS AND SOCIAL WORKERS Important: Applicant must be resident within the Jurisdiction of the Embassy for a minimum of one year prior to applying for the visa. From Brazil: (All documents must be notarised in Brazil and su bmitted with the original notarial seal visible) y Letter from the Brazilian institution, mentioning: Invitation to render service as a volunteer - Specific information on the activity to be performed, location and duration of the engagement. Letter from the Brazilian institution mentioning (Termo de Responsibilidade): - Responsibility for the maintenance of the applicant during his stay in Brazil. - Responsibility for his/her return on expiration of his stay in Brazil or at any time following the termination of the mission. - That the applicant will not perform any remunerative activities. Copy of the following documents of the institution in Brazil, duly notarized: Bylaws of the institution (estatuto social). Act in which the institutions directors were nominated. - Proof of inscription in the national or local Conselho de Assistncia Social. Proof that the institution is still established and functioning. - Act indicating the appointment of the applicant to the intended position with powers of representation and registered at the appropriate governmental institution in Brazil.

From India: y Three visa application forms per applicant, properly filled, in BLUE INK and duly signed by the applicant only (both parents must sign application forms for th ose under 18 years old). Three recent 2 x 2 passport-photos, front view, white background. Snapshots and computer pictures are not accepted. Passport (valid for a minimum of One Year at the time of submission, and with at least two blank pages available for the visa stamp) with a photocopy of the first 2 pages and last page. Police clearance (PCC) duly attested by the Ministry of External Aff airs, New Delhi, and then legalized by the Embassy. A fee of Rs.1,200/ - will be charged. International health insurance valid in Brazil. If the original is presented, a copy will be made and legalized at the Embassy for a Rs.900/- fee. A copy that is brought by the applicant must be attested by Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi and then legalized by the Embassy. A fee of Rs.1,200/ - will be charged. Proof of residence within the consular jurisdiction for the past 12 months (i.e., letter from the employer/educational institution notarized, copy of utility bill or voter's registration),attested by Ministry of External Affairs, New Delhi and then legalized by the Embassy. A fee of Rs.1,200/- will be charged.

Minors under 18 years of age: y Original birth certificate translated into Portuguese or English by a sworn translator. The Embassy will then make a true copy. A fee of Rs.900/- will be charged. A notarized letter of consent signed by both parents, attested by the Ministry of External Affairs, Patiala House, New Delhi. The Embassy will then legalize this document. A fee of Rs.1,200/- will be charged. Visa fee : (Subject to change) y y y Personal appearance of applicant : Rs.6,000/ -. Application sent through any representative: Add Rs.600/- to above. In addition to the above, US passport holders must pay also a processing fee of Rs.7,800/- in reciprocity for an identical fee paid by Brazilian citizens who apply for a Visa to the US. The legalization fees indicated in all cases above are additional to the visa fee, the absent fee and the processing fee.

Payment by pay order only favoring Embassy of Brazil payable at New Delhi.

Business Visa

Who is eligible: y y y y y Travellers on business trips, except in case of technical assistance. Media coverage or filming. Flight/ship crewmembers not holding an international crew card. Participating in Trade Fairs. Adoption of a Brazilian child

Individuals involved in installation, service ,repair of equipment or provision of any kind of technical assistance/provision of any kind of services (with or without a contract , with or without any financial implications) in Brazil do not qualify for a business vi sa. They require a Temporary Visa V.

IMPORTANT: GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS y y Business visa holders are prohibited from engaging in any remunerative activity, provision of services, technical assistance either with or without a contract. The Embassy of Brazil in New Delhi does not process same day visas. It usually takes from 3 to 4 working days to process your application if your documentation is complete in all respects. During high season (May to July / Oct to Feb) processing times may increase significantly. Please plan accordingly. Business Visas must be used within 90 days from the date they are issued or they become void. Business Visas are good for multiple entries for the duration of the visa. All Business visa holders may only stay in Brazil for up to 90 days, regardless of nationality or length of time that the visa was given for the Federal Police in Brazil may extend this 90-day period, yet stays in Brazil may not exceed 180 days per year from the date of first entry under any circumstance. Visas are officially valid from the date of first entry in Brazil. Please attach photocopies of any previous Brazilian Visas. Applicants not residing within the jurisdiction of the Embassy have to present themselves personally at the time of submitting their documents. The requirements listed should not, be considered all -inclusive. The Brazilian Visa Section reserves the right to apply additional requirements when they are deemed necessary. Your passport that will not expire less than six months from the intended arrival date in Brazil (with at least one blank page available) along with a photocopy of the first 2 pages and last page. A letter from the Indian company (on its letter head) where the applicant is employed, stating the employees name and title, how long the employee has been working for the company , purpose of visit with complete details of the proposed trip (kindly elaborate on business discussions) and that it assumes full responsibility regarding the applicants business pursuits and his expenses connected with the visit. Letter of recommendation from the Chambers. of Commerce / Export Promotion Council/Manufacturers. Associations in India.

Invitation letter only from Brazil on the company letter head clearly mentioning the registration number (CNPJ No) of the company ,all the details of the proposed visit including the duration of the stay in Brazil. A copy of a round-trip ticket or a booked itinerary showing travel to and from Brazil, confirming purchase of the ticket and passengers name, itinerary, flight number and arrival/departure dates with PNR number.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS

Non Indian Citizens will also need to present: y A copy of the Indian Residential Permit for foreign residents and/or a valid visa or document to return from Brazil to India or to another country.

Filming of documentaries/commercial/publicity y Those going for filming of documentaries/commerc ial/publicity to Brazil must request the Brazilian partner to apply for a special authorization from the "Secretaria para o Desenvolvimento Audiovisual" of ANCINE (National Agency of Cinema) to be obtained directly by the Brazilian partner.

Joining ship/flights in Brazil y y y y The letter from the shipping company must be as per format. Copy of applicants passport. Copy of CDC with the relevant validity page along with the original. Copy of contract/assignment letter.

Participating in Trade Fairs y Proof of payment for participation.

Visa fee: (Subject to change) y y y Personal appearance of applicant : Rs.3,600/ -. Application sent through any representative: Add Rs.1200/- to above. In addition to the amounts indicated above, a processing fee of Rs.7,800/ - will be charged to all US passport holders, in reciprocity for an identical fee paid by Brazilian citizens who apply for visas to the US.
