Fpp rebellion

We have technology, but that's really it. If you were to fight a 1 year old tiger, 9/10 you'd lose. So animals have strength, speed, living underwaterness, but then again they don't have as complex feelings as us. Which I say is a good thing. You don't see animals killing people because it's fun. Or forcing each other to mate. Any religion has caused problems. So-and-so religion says when the islams and jews become friends, that the world is ending. Animals don't have to worry about that, they think about the things that are happening right now and maybe that's best. And we don't even know that for sure. If you says science has shown they can't think emotions, maybe it's because we're only comparing their brain to ours. "We're so smart because we're the only ones with thumbs" *gasp* I think we're the weird ones, as you can see all the animals on earth have no thumbs and the earth is okay with that, but when came with thumbs we had to build things to match it. If not having thumbs was such a problem, then why didn't the other animals adapt? When a lion kills 1 boy in africa, people go out and kill 10. If we didn't have weapons we would lose big time on a one on one fight. It's sad and we call are selves superior. This blog inspired me, thou I already believed in these things Click

Onyx beat me to the punch! Yep, animals such as dolphins do kill other animals such as porpoises for the thrill, and chimpanzees are notorious in thier hunting down and murdering other chimps. Animals do rape, orangs are known to do this, weasels rape females in the nest so young their eyes aren't even open! Also animals alter change the enviorment about them as well, such as elephants. Neither, as humans are technically animals. We have a way of thinking that makes us different from most every other known animal on this planet, but carrier pigeons are excellent navigators. Bats use echolocation to "see" their environment, efficiently enough that they can even notice a single strand of a spider's web (and I just walked into one hanging from the tree to the car today). Snakes can "see" heat. Plenty of animals are born with capabilities that we aren't, and while we can think our way through and make a computer to do those things, it's not the same; often times, the animals are more efficient than the computers. We can't judge animals and say that we, as humans, are superior, because cognition is important to us, but would it matter to a snapping turtle? Do any other animals reallyneed our sort of cognition to survive? Obviously not, or we'd all be vegetarians, as we would've run out of meat a long time ago. Heck, we probably never would have had meat. Actually, I dare say we wouldn't have evolved if other organisms hadn't managed to survive without our form of cognition. So, I stick with neither. Though, looking up, Otter summed it. Mer D: Yay pointless paragraphs.

T.yrant (#210900) You don't see animals killing people because it's fun. Or forcing each other to mate. Some animals kill other animals for fun, and I wouldn't exactly call all animal mating consensual (frogs come to mind). While I'm not into human arrogance about how great we are, I'm also not into just ripping on the human race when other animals do comparable things. We're just animals with more complex brains and awareness of our effects on the world, which means we have to be more responsible about what we do, but it doesn't necessarily make us better or worse. Also, koalas have 4 thumbs. They're little furry bosses. They'd rule the world if they weren't so stoned all the time. Monkeys and apes climb well but they're not good swimmers.

I call shenanigans. At least one specific troop (troupe? Not sure if it's the second when it comes to an animal group) can dive under the water and pick up grain from the bottom. Lots more monkeys like to swim.

Learning- "Don't hang over the water, the fish will see your shadow." Remembering- "Snakes that rattle are dangerous." Judging- (not like human judging) "Should I go after the hog babies or the antelope?" Problem-solving- "Waiting and surprising works better than just running straight after." Aggie- Nothing is right nor wrong, really. Maybe getting an B is bad to you, but getting a C is good to someone else? Hurting personA is right to personB because personA hurt him/her, but then it's wrong to personC who is the mother of personA. Kitty- Animals think in their own way that they find "smart" T.yrant- They kill other animals, but not the same kind as them. And I have yet to meet an animal who killed a person for fun. Author: Comett (#7676) Kristy- Do animals really need cognition? And animals have most of those things regarding survival. That's not the point. The point is that humans have that additional grasp of mindpower, intellect and understanding that "animals" (for wont of a better word, as we're both the same technically) don't have. That is why we're superior. That is why we cover the earth. Regardless of how we did it - we destroyed habitats, we took over, we used our mind and our creativity and intelligence to do what no other species was able to do. Whether that superiority is a good or useful thing is another matter. But if, say, tigers

were "superior", they'd have taken over the earth - not humans. I love my cat. She's incredibly intelligent and has a hilarious attitude - she is, in no way, stupid. But she's not human. She doesn't have the same mental grasp that humans do.

Everyone is an animal. So saying "animals are a lot better, smarter, etc. than humans" your just saying these animals are better than these animals. o.O And yeah, Dolphins are nasty. -_- You should see the videos of them killing Porpoises. And it's not like they eat them, they just kill them and leave. And Killer Whales also kill

seals and don't always eat them. Also, Praying Mantis females will mate and then rip the males head off...so.... Honestly, were all animals with differences. Not one is better than the other. Also, animals are ruining the world also. What about all these invasive species like the Pythons in the Florida Everglades? And not all invasive species were brought by humans. Some have migrated farther into different territories, and also some were accidentally brought to different areas, not intentionally.

Author: Comett (#7676) An maybe in an animals better judgement don't they want to become like us. Like Exodus said we're so smart we're stupid to see how are smartness is destroying the world and eventually are selves. In that case - why don't they use this better judgement to make their lives more comfortable? If a tiger has the judgement to recognise that humans are destroying the world, why does he sit there and wait for it to happen as bulldozers tear open his habitat? Like you said, in a human vs tiger battle, not many humans will end up triumphant. Why do animals such as coyotes or foxes, time and time again, get shot or mauled or hunted because they (again!) got somewhere that they shouldn't have (eg a chicken coop)? Why do nearly-extinct animals still fight each other and fade out of existence? Those are simply basic survival tactics. If animals have this superior judgement they have not yet displayed it. The closest I can consider to animal "judgement" are the elephants and birds in the wake of Indonesian tsumamis - the birds flew away, and the elephants picked up humans and carried them to safety. Both of these can account to changes in the weather/climate or other unsettling events that would provoke an instinctual animal to move. That's instinct - not judgement. Just as a friendly debate-y thing, Comett, if you consider being spread all over the globe as an achievement, wouldn't things like beetles be considered superior because of this?

Then also, what do you define as "ruling" the world? That's fine. :P Honestly I don't consider it an achievement but we need some sort of basis to debate from and world domination was the easiest one I could think of/relate to. :x

Date: 11:51 PM | 06/29/11

Author: Comett (#7676) Whoops, I missed your second half there TyWhat would I define as "ruling" the world... Pretty much the ability to adapt and use the world and what it offers to better the survivability of your species. Some animals have begun to do this (essentially by living beside and/or using humans to their advantage, eg. food scraps) but it tends to tie back to what humans have done in the first place... considering pretty much every animal has been impacted by humans in some way or another I'd consider that a pretty leet achievement on behalf of humans "dominating" the world (whether that's a good thing though... is another issue XD)

Everything here is Darwinism. Which is, in lame terms, Survival of the fittest. Those who can adapted will be successful those who cannot will die out. Ex. Let say you have two types of moths. White and Black. They both live in a forest of white trees. When birds come to eat they see the black moth and soon the black moth will die out. The white moth will strive. But lets say a volcano erupts and puts soot on all the trees, then when the bird comes along he sees the white moth and eats them. White moth starts to die out and now the black moth starts striving. Also we are much smarter then our other animal friends because of our brain size. Compared to every other animal we have the largest, thus allowing us to hold more information and think differently.

Comett- What can the tiger do? I guess it rather die as a tiger then tun into a human. They are smart in their own way not see able to humans. Ex A poor person comes into the little shop and says "Eh chech, -insertpoorlanguagehere" and then the rich person sitting in a chair "Excuse me sir, but I've seen to misunderstand your ignorance to use room voices only -insertfancystuffhere-" They can't understand each other because the

way they were raised. Coyotes and foxes getting somewhere they shouldn't have? What makes it rightfully ours? We first went into their land and killed most of their food and now they come onto "our" soil and we kill them. The human world is still the Survival of the fittest, just in a very dumb way. With money. Money has no value except what one sees in it, which I see nothing. It's just a piece of green paper. But unfortunately I have to use money since I'm a human. Which looks better to you, a diamond or these feathers. Forget the value or how it can be exchanged for money. I pick the feathers.

Author: Comett (#7676) I'm not saying tigers aren't smart. I'm saying their intelligence isn't comparable to human intelligence. I don't want to sound rude or anything but I'm pretty sure I've answered all your counterarguments before... maybe I'm not explaining myself correctly. :/ The long and the short of it: "What makes it ours?" We do. We do, and they don't. We found methods to "take" their land and they haven't "taken" it back. As previously mentioned, natural selection - those movies where the animals are sick of humans stealing their forests etc and fight back are just movies. The day that a collection of animals kicks humans out of their houses etc is the day humankind will have to evaluate their worth in the world - but to this day there has been NO examples of this "hidden intelligence" you say animals have. I have a great respect for animal life but I'm not going to say they're the better beasts with this great profound sense of intelligence and understanding and they're just waiting for us to kill ourselves off because they have this great underlying knowledge that we don't. Animals have instinct. They have strengths and weaknesses (as do humans). But if a peacock was the superior animal today, this world would look completely different and we'd know it. "Planet of the apes" and all that. I'm done, that's how I see things and I really can't explain it any better. :)

Male lions taking over a pride will kill all the cubs, deer and other species will fight to the death, animals like rabbits will kill another rabbit that isn't from their warren etc, (rabbits are surprisingly violent animals!) And smaller animals like ants will start whole wars with other colony's. Heck, one of my own cockroach's started eating some of my baby roaches for no reason. That one's always had an attitude problem. u_u And sure, animals are amazing, but attaching things onto them that they're not capable of, (like higher thought and intelligence), is doing them a dis-service. We have the ability to create, build, and destroy. Saying "so we have intelligance.. is that all?" is a little absurd to me. I'm very thankful that we have the thought process that no other animal has. Our intelligance alone is something that we shouldn't take for granit. Animals, they survive off of instinct. They can sense when storms are coming WAY before we can (if we didn't have our telivision or radio, thus bringing up the intellignace thing again), they have their own survival tactics, etc. Instinct also provides them with better senses, such as smelling, hearing, seeing, etc. Most animals can do all of those things better then we can. When a cat, (big or small), kills kittens it has nothing to do with population. They kill them so that it makes the females come back into heat and they can then breed and produce their own kittens. So it does nothing to change population because new kittens quickly replace those killed. And I never said anything about instinct and intelligence? I was just pointing out that animals can be just as, if not more cruel and violent then humans. The way i see it, humans are just another species of animal, no better or worse then any other. Every species has something that makes it superior to another, intelligence and thought just happen to be the things that human's are superior at. But then some animals are superior to us at other things, like flight. Like others have said, it's comparing apples to oranges.

It's an apples versus oranges type of thing. No one is denying that animals have their own sort of intelligence. I don't think my pet guinea pig's brain was any bigger than a pea, and she was thoroughly happy with her existence in her cage with her toys and food and water, but she always knew my dad's footsteps and would squeak her head off when he came home. She always knew that the sound of the refrigerator door opening and the rustle of something inside meant that she would be getting some sort of fruit or veggie as a treat in a matter of time. My dog is pretty dumb as far as dogs go, but he knows when we leave the house to put himself downstairs in his cage on his own, something we didn't teach him. When it comes to pets... the results of their behaviour have much to do with psychological conditioning, which ties in with their instincts. They have the ability to make the connections on a basic level that, "If I hear those footsteps or that rustling, I'm probably going to get something tasty" or, "If they're all leaving the house, I should put myself downstairs," then it leads to them behaving in a certain way. Animals don't have the ability for complex formal reasoning as I'm using as I type my two cents and illustrate my points, but they can work on the basic level that x > y or even x + y > z. On that level, yes, animals have something that is more or less called "intelligence," for lack of a better word. It functions on such a basic level that it is often underestimated by humans, and the fact that instinct often goes hand-in-hand with what an animal does throws in some extremely gray areas. Still, there is something there. It is nowhere near as complex as the level that humans can reach -- the most any animal could do is sit here and blink at you; they cannot participate in such a complex process as formal reasoning as we all are doing. So, yes... animals have something of their own going on, which has fostered their survival through the ages. But so have humans. Like it has been said several times before, when it comes to the ability to think and reason... yes, human intelligence is superior to that of

other animals. But on other counts? It probably wouldn't do us a bit of harm to take a leaf or two out of the habits of some animal or other.

Adel- I didn't read everything you said, but anyway animals don't need a complex way of thinking their "simple" minds have gotten them far enough. But our complex minds have helped and now will kill us. My thought on comparing apples to oranges- Apples are worse to some people and oranges are better to others. There is no real way of comparing those two.

Maybe he eats his puke because it's what they would do in the wild, not waste a single piece of food. And you might as lol(cause I am at the argument posts) because for typing your part I think that even your pet Zuko is smarter than you. I didn't mean literally ask them, since we're too dumb to understand animals, but if you want to go ahead. When you spay/neuter your killing a potential life saver. But if there's a conversion rate for human/animal spaying/neutering I'd be okay with it. 1spayed/neutered dog=1spayed/neutered human, thou it's never going to happen, since humans think they're better.(and don't say they are(which you will anyway))

Humans existed for thousands of years without technology. Technology is only a very recent thing, and if it was taken away the human race would still survive. certain individuals would not, but the species as a whole could still exist just fine without it. Heck, there are still tribes of humans out there that exist, and even thrive without modern technology.

Animals {and even some plants} kill each other in ways more terrible than many humans can even imagine. I personally find non-human animals more interesting than humans from a scientific point of view, but srsly. No human to my knowledge injects another animal with digestive enzymes so that it's insides are liquified while it is still alive. Some animals will even swallow prey whole while still alive. Prey effectively dies by corroding in acid. The animal kingdom isn't all fluffy bunnies. And that's why I find it fascinating. It'd be pretty boring if animals behaved with such decorum as the original post seems to suggest. Humans can do some pretty despicable things, but there is no doubt in my mind that if animals evolved 'higher' intellect and the means to create things, they would be no better than us. We are only 'worse' because we have the means to do worse.

Science isn't there to predict every single random event of people. Science can't help all the the time or be right. I'm going to ask a serious question here. Have you, at any point in your life, actually been in a science class, or heard about them at least secondhand? As humans if we didn't have technology we would be dead, so we're not the most dangerous as you can see how easy it is to kill us. Way to make an assertion that can't be proven right or wrong. because for typing your part I think that even your pet Zuko is smarter than you. You do not understand how brains work. And animals have lasted longer even without technology. We. Are. Animals. Our lineage (which also branched off into many other species) goes back millions upon millions of years. You have to be a lot more specific than just

"animals". 99% of the species that have ever lived on this planet are extinct, so no, a lot of animals haven't lasted even longer without technology. It would of distracted me. This brings the tally up to at least three things you clearly don't understand: science, brains, and contractions. Someone suggest they walk back, everyone starts walking. *Evening time* Someone hears rustling and then a lion starts charging Shatt shoots it, but there are more. Shatt shoots some of them, but one gets to her, rams it's body into her, and she drops her gun. You think of the rest. And then you don't even shoot all of them in a good place, enough to kill. Onyx- Again I say if they improved their lives by doing things we do, won't they just become us? And isn't us who make their lives horrible? And don't some humans live in fear just because of 1 little thing like a car crash or a family member dies. Gosg and then

Um. I'm not entirley sure what's going on on this post, I thought it would be quite a redundant question seeing as we -are- animals ourselves, and we're also supierior over them because of our brains. We can create art, music, we can design, we can research, we built computers and developed a massive range of medicine, we can take the heart out of a human being and keep him alive, and then replace his heart with another's. That is amazing. We have vast imagination and resources for knowlege, we can dive as deep as a dolphin and fly as high as a bird - and higher, to space. We can recognise when a species is going extinct and take steps to stop it. However, I thought I'd post a few examples of the murder/rape thigns because I have them floating about in my brain. Animals do kill their own kind, in very nasty ways. Stallions have been known to kill foals. (I have a video but won't post it because it's upsetting, if you really want to see youtube it) If a male lion takes over another male lion's pride, he will kill all the babies fathered by the other male lion. Dolphins kill for fun, and they most certainly rape. It's horrible. There is even a reported case of a dolphin who would hook & drag human swimmers away with his, er, man parts and attept to mate with them. Praying mantises rip the heads of males after they've finished mating, and various species of spiders will kill the male after eating. We are just higher-developed animals, is all. So, yeah, we are superior in that sense. 'We' as a species were actually here before some of the species today, and we have been around at the same time as a lot of species. You can't really say they were here first, I never understood that. -WispaLoudly

Just because humans, by and large, lack common sense and the moral fiber not to do cruel, hurtful things doesn't mean we're not still animals. We just have the conscious to think that killing another animal may or may not be wrong.
