$ Then said %: GFor what obBect is this blessed land* which is entirely filled with trees* and this 6 acc&rsed 'alley betweenLG Then Jriel* one of the holy angels who was with me* answered and said: GThis acc&rsed 'alley is for those who are acc&rsed for e'er: -ere shall all the acc&rsed be gathered together who &tter with their lips against the :ord &nseemly words and of -is glory speak hard things$ -ere shall they be gathered together* and here 3 shall be their place of B&dgment$ %n the last days there shall be &pon them the spectacle of righteo&s B&dgment in the presence of the righteo&s for e'er: here shall the mercif&l bless the :ord of glory* the Eternal King$ 8 %n the days of B&dgment o'er the former* they shall bless -im for the mercy in accordance with # which -e has assigned them Ctheir lotD$G Then % blessed the :ord of 0lory and set forth -is glory and la&ded -im glorio&sly$ 7hapter 6/ $ 8nd thence % went towards the east* into the midst of the mo&ntain range of the desert* and 6 % saw a wilderness and it was solitary* f&ll of trees and plants$ 8nd water g&shed forth from 3 abo'e$ >&shing like a copio&s waterco&rse Ewhich flowedF towards the north-west it ca&sed clo&ds and dew to ascend on e'ery side$ 7hapter 69 $ 8nd thence % went to another place in the desert* and approached to the east of this mo&ntain range$ 6 8nd there % saw aromatic trees exhaling the fragrance of frankincense and myrrh* and the trees also were similar to the almond tree$ 7hapter 3( $46 8nd beyond these* % went afar to the east* and % saw another place* a 'alley Cf&llD of water$ 8nd 3 therein there was a tree* the colo&r CLD of fragrant trees s&ch as the mastic$ 8nd on the sides of those 'alleys % saw fragrant cinnamon$ 8nd beyond these % proceeded to the east$ 7hapter 3$ $ 8nd % saw other mo&ntains* and amongst them were gro'es of trees* and there flowed forth from 6 them nectar* which is named sarara and galban&m$ 8nd beyond these mo&ntains % saw another mo&ntain to the east of the ends of the earth* whereon were aloe-trees* and all the trees were f&ll 3 of stacte* being like almond-trees$ 8nd when one b&rnt it* it smelt sweeter than any fragrant odo&r$ 7hapter 36 $ 8nd after these fragrant odo&rs* as % looked towards the north o'er the mo&ntains % saw se'en mo&ntains f&ll of choice nard and fragrant trees and cinnamon and pepper$ 6 8nd thence % went o'er the s&mmits of all these mo&ntains* far towards the east of the earth* and passed abo'e the Erythraean sea and went far from it* and passed o'er the angel Iotiel$ 8nd % came to the 0arden of >ighteo&sness* 3 % and from afar off trees more n&mero&s than % these trees and great-two trees there* 'ery great* bea&tif&l* and glorio&s* and magnificent* and the tree of knowledge* whose holy fr&it they eat and know great wisdom$ 8 That tree is in height like the fir* and its lea'es are like Cthose ofD the 6arob tree: and its fr&it # is like the cl&sters of the 'ine* 'ery bea&tif&l: and the fragrance of the tree penetrates afar$ Then 3 % said: G-ow bea&tif&l is the tree* and how attracti'e is its lookHG Then >aphael the holy angel* who was with me* answered me and said: GThis is the tree of wisdom* of which thy father old Cin yearsD and thy aged mother* who were before thee* ha'e eaten* and they learnt wisdom and their eyes were opened* and they knew that they were naked and they were dri'en o&t of the garden$G
7hapter 33 $ 8nd from thence % went to the ends of the earth and saw there great beasts* and each differed from the other@ and C% sawD birds also differing in appearance and bea&ty and 'oice* the one differing from the other$ 8nd to the east of those beasts % saw the ends of the earth whereon the hea'en 6 rests* and the portals of the hea'en open$ 8nd % saw how the stars of hea'en come forth* and 3 % co&nted the portals o&t of which they proceed* and wrote down all their o&tlets* of each indi'id&al star by itself* according to their n&mber and their names* their co&rses and their positions* and their 8 times and their months* as Jriel the holy angel who was with me showed me$ -e showed all things to me and wrote them down for me: also their names he wrote for me* and their laws and their companies$ 7hapter 38 $ 8nd from thence % went towards the north to the ends of the earth* and there % saw a great and 6 glorio&s de'ice at the ends of the whole earth$ 8nd here % saw three portals of hea'en open in the hea'en: thro&gh each of them proceed north winds: when they blow there is cold* hail* frost* 3 snow* dew* and rain$ 8nd o&t of one portal they blow for good: b&t when they blow thro&gh the other two portals* it is with 'iolence and affliction on the earth* and they blow with 'iolence$ 7hapter 3# $ 8nd from thence % went towards the west to the ends of the earth* and saw there three portals of the hea'en open s&ch as % had seen in the east* the same n&mber of portals* and the same n&mber of o&tlets$ 7hapter 33 $ 8nd from thence % went to the so&th to the ends of the earth* and saw there three open portals 6 of the hea'en: and thence there come dew* rain* and wind$ 8nd from thence % went to the east to the ends of the hea'en* and saw here the three eastern portals of hea'en open and small portals 3 abo'e them$ Thro&gh each of these small portals pass the stars of hea'en and r&n their co&rse to the west on the path which is shown to them$ 8nd as often as % saw % blessed always the :ord of 0lory* and % contin&ed to bless the :ord of 0lory who has wro&ght great and glorio&s wonders* to show the greatness of -is work to the angels and to spirits and to men* that they might praise -is work and all -is creation: that they might see the work of -is might and praise the great work of -is hands and bless -im for e'er$

come before the :ord / of /pirits to acc&se them who dwell on the earth$ 8fter that % asked the angel of peace who went with me* who showed me e'erything that is hidden: <ho are these fo&r presences which % ha'e 9 seen and whose words % ha'e heard and written downL 8nd he said to me: This first is 7ichael* the mercif&l and long-s&ffering: and the second* who is set o'er all the diseases and all the wo&nds of the children of men* is >aphael: and the third* who is set o'er all the powers* is 0abriel: and the fo&rth* who is set o'er the repentance &nto hope of those who inherit eternal life* is named ?han&el$ $( 8nd these are the fo&r angels of the :ord of /pirits and the fo&r 'oices % heard in those days$ 7hapter 8$ $ 8nd after that % saw all the secrets of the hea'ens* and how the kingdom is di'ided* and how the 6 actions of men are weighed in the balance$ 8nd there % saw the mansions of the elect and the mansions of the holy* and mine eyes saw there all the sinners being dri'en from thence which deny the name of the :ord of /pirits* and being dragged off: and they co&ld not abide beca&se of the p&nishment which proceeds from the :ord of /pirits$ 3 8nd there mine eyes saw the secrets of the lightning and of the th&nder* and the secrets of the winds* how they are di'ided to blow o'er the earth* and the secrets of the clo&ds and dew* and these 8 % saw from whence they proceed in that place and from whence they sat&rate the d&sty earth$ 8nd there % saw closed chambers o&t of which the winds are di'ided* the chamber of the hail and winds* the chamber of the mist* and of the clo&ds* and the clo&d thereof ho'ers o'er the earth from the # beginning of the world$ 8nd % saw the chambers of the s&n and moon* whence they proceed and whither they come again* and their glorio&s ret&rn* and how one is s&perior to the other* and their stately orbit* and how they do not lea'e their orbit* and they add nothing to their orbit and they take nothing from it* and they keep faith with each other* in accordance with the oath by which they 3 are bo&nd together$ 8nd first the s&n goes forth and tra'erses his path according to the commandment ' of the :ord of /pirits* and mighty is -is name for e'er and e'er$ 8nd after that % saw the hidden and the 'isible path of the moon* and she accomplishes the co&rse of her path in that place by day and by night-the one holding a position opposite to the other before the :ord of /pirits$ 8nd they gi'e thanks and praise and rest not@ For &nto them is their thanksgi'ing rest$ / For the s&n changes oft for a blessing or a c&rse* 8nd the co&rse of the path of the moon is light to the righteo&s 8nd darkness to the sinners in the name of the :ord* <ho made a separation between the light and the darkness* 8nd di'ided the spirits of men* 8nd strengthened the spirits of the righteo&s* %n the name of -is righteo&sness$ 9 For no angel hinders and no power is able to hinder@ for -e appoints a B&dge for them all and -e B&dges them all before -im$ 7hapter 86 $ <isdom fo&nd no place where she might dwell@ Then a dwelling-place was assigned her in the hea'ens$ 6 <isdom went forth to make her dwelling among the children of men* 8nd fo&nd no dwelling-place: <isdom ret&rned to her place* 8nd took her seat among the angels$ 3 8nd &nrighteo&sness went forth from her chambers: <hom she so&ght not she fo&nd* 8nd dwelt with them* 8s rain in a desert 8nd dew on a thirsty land$ 7hapter 83 $ 8nd % saw other lightnings and the stars of hea'en* and % saw how -e called them all by their 6 names and they hearkened &nto -im$ 8nd % saw how they are weighed in a righteo&s balance according to their proportions of light: C% sawD the width of their spaces and the day of their appearing* and how their re'ol&tion prod&ces lightning: and C% sawD their re'ol&tion according to the 3 n&mber of the angels* and ChowD they keep faith with each other$ 8nd % asked the angel who went 8 with me who showed me what was hidden: <hat are theseL 8nd he said to me: The :ord of /pirits hath showed thee their parabolic meaning Clit$ their parableD: these are the names of the holy who dwell on the earth and belie'e in the name of the :ord of /pirits for e'er and e'er$ 7hapter 88
8lso another phenomenon % saw in regard to the lightnings: how some of the stars arise and become lightnings and cannot part with their new form$ 7hapter 8# $ 8nd this is the second ?arable concerning those who deny the name of the dwelling of the holy ones and the :ord of /pirits$ 6 8nd into the hea'en they shall not ascend* 8nd on the earth they shall not come: /&ch shall be the lot of the sinners <ho ha'e denied the name of the :ord of /pirits* <ho are th&s preser'ed for the day of s&ffering and trib&lation$ 3 9n that day 7ine Elect 9ne shall sit on the throne of glory 8nd shall try their works* 8nd their places of rest shall be inn&merable$ 8nd their so&ls shall grow strong within them when they see 7ine Elect 9nes* 8nd those who ha'e called &pon 7y glorio&s name: 8 Then will % ca&se 7ine Elect 9ne to dwell among them$ 8nd % will transform the hea'en and make it an eternal blessing and light # 8nd % will transform the earth and make it a blessing: 8nd % will ca&se 7ine elect ones to dwell &pon it B&t the sinners and e'il-doers shall not set foot thereon$ 3 For % ha'e pro'ided and satisfied with peace 7y righteo&s ones 8nd ha'e ca&sed them to dwell before 7e: B&t for the sinners there is B&dgment impending with 7e* /o that % shall destroy them from the face of the earth$ 7hapter 83 $ 8nd there % saw 9ne who had a head of days* 8nd -is head was white like wool* 8nd with -im was another being whose co&ntenance had the appearance of a man* 8nd his face was f&ll of gracio&sness* like one of the holy angels$ 6 8nd % asked the angel who went with me and showed me all the hidden things* concerning that 3 /on of 7an* who he was* and whence he was* CandD why he went with the -ead of ;aysL 8nd he answered and said &nto me: This is the son of 7an who hath righteo&sness* <ith whom dwelleth righteo&sness* 8nd who re'ealeth all the treas&res of that which is hidden* Beca&se the :ord of /pirits hath chosen him* 8nd whose lot hath the pre-eminence before the :ord of /pirits in &prightness for e'er$ 8 8nd this /on of 7an whom tho& hast seen /hall raise &p the kings and the mighty from their seats* E8nd the strong from their thronesF 8nd shall loosen the reins of the strong* 8nd break the teeth of the sinners$ # E8nd he shall p&t down the kings from their thrones and kingdomsF Beca&se they do not extol and praise -im* =or h&mbly acknowledge whence the kingdom was bestowed &pon them$ 3 8nd he shall p&t down the co&ntenance of the strong* 8nd shall fill them with shame$ 8nd darkness shall be their dwelling* 8nd worms shall be their bed* 8nd they shall ha'e no hope of rising from their beds* Beca&se they do not extol the name of the :ord of /pirits$ ' 8nd these are they who B&dge the stars of hea'en* E8nd raise their hands against the 7ost -ighF* 8nd tread &pon the earth and dwell &pon it$ 8nd all their deeds manifest &nrighteo&sness* 8nd their power rests &pon their riches* 8nd their faith is in the gods which they ha'e made with their hands* 8nd they deny the name of the :ord of /pirits* / 8nd they persec&te the ho&ses of -is congregations* 8nd the faithf&l who hang &pon the name of the :ord of /pirits$ 7hapter 8' $ 8nd in those days shall ha'e ascended the prayer of the righteo&s* 8nd the blood of the righteo&s from the earth before the :ord of /pirits$ 6 %n those days the holy ones who dwell abo'e in the hea'ens /hall &nite with one 'oice 8nd s&pplicate and pray and praise* 8nd gi'e thanks and bless the name of the :ord of /pirits 9n behalf of the blood of the righteo&s which has been shed* 8nd that the prayer of the righteo&s may not be in 'ain before the :ord of /pirits* That B&dgment may be done &nto them* 8nd that they may not ha'e to s&ffer for e'er$ 3 %n those days % saw the -ead of ;ays when -e seated himself &pon the throne of -is glory* 8nd the books of the li'ing were opened before -im: 8nd all -is host which is in hea'en abo'e and -is co&nselors stood before -im* 8 8nd the hearts of the holy were filled with Boy@ Beca&se the n&mber of the righteo&s had been offered* 8nd the prayer of the righteo&s had been heard* 8nd the blood of the righteo&s been re5&ired before the :ord of /pirits$
7hapter 8/ $ 8nd in that place % saw the fo&ntain of righteo&sness <hich was inexha&stible: 8nd aro&nd it were many fo&ntains of wisdom: 8nd all the thirsty drank of them* 8nd were filled with wisdom* 8nd their dwellings were with the righteo&s and holy and elect$ 6 8nd at that ho&r that /on of 7an was named %n the presence of the :ord of /pirits* 8nd his name before the -ead of ;ays$ 3 Kea* before the s&n and the signs were created* Before the stars of the hea'en were made* -is name was named before the :ord of /pirits$ 8 -e shall be a staff to the righteo&s whereon to stay themsel'es and not fall* 8nd he shall be the light of the 0entiles* 8nd the hope of those who are tro&bled of heart$ # 8ll who dwell on earth shall fall down and worship before him* 8nd will praise and bless and celebrate with song the :ord of /pirits$ 3 8nd for this reason hath he been chosen and hidden before -im* Before the creation of the world and for e'ermore$ ' 8nd the wisdom of the :ord of /pirits hath re'ealed him to the holy and righteo&s@ For he hath preser'ed the lot of the righteo&s* Beca&se they ha'e hated and despised this world of &nrighteo&sness* 8nd ha'e hated all its works and ways in the name of the :ord of /pirits: For in his name they are sa'ed* 8nd according to his good pleas&re hath it been in regard to their life$ / %n these days downcast in co&ntenance shall the kings of the earth ha'e become* 8nd the strong who possess the land beca&se of the works of their hands* For on the day of their ang&ish and affliction they shall not Cbe able toD sa'e themsel'es$ 8nd % will gi'e them o'er into the hands of 7ine elect: 9 8s straw in the fire so shall they b&rn before the face of the holy: 8s lead in the water shall they sink before the face of the righteo&s* 8nd no trace of them shall any more be fo&nd$ $( 8nd on the day of their affliction there shall be rest on the earth* 8nd before them they shall fall and not rise again: 8nd there shall be no one to take them with his hands and raise them: For they ha'e denied the :ord of /pirits and -is 8nointed$ The name of the :ord of /pirits be blessed$ 7hapter 89 l For wisdom is po&red o&t like water* 8nd glory faileth not before him for e'ermore$ 6 For he is mighty in all the secrets of righteo&sness* 8nd &nrighteo&sness shall disappear as a shadow* 8nd ha'e no contin&ance@ Beca&se the Elect 9ne standeth before the :ord of /pirits* 8nd his glory is for e'er and e'er* 8nd his might &nto all generations$ 3 8nd in him dwells the spirit of wisdom* 8nd the spirit which gi'es insight* 8nd the spirit of &nderstanding and of might* 8nd the spirit of those who ha'e fallen asleep in righteo&sness$ 8 8nd he shall B&dge the secret things* 8nd none shall be able to &tter a lying word before him@ For he is the Elect 9ne before the :ord of /pirits according to -is good pleas&re$ 7hapter #( $ 8nd in those days a change shall take place for the holy and elect* 8nd the light of days shall abide &pon them* 8nd glory and hono&r shall t&rn to the holy* 6 9n the day of affliction on which e'il shall ha'e been treas&red &p against the sinners$ 8nd the righteo&s shall be 'ictorio&s in the name of the :ord of /pirits: 8nd -e will ca&se the others to witness CthisD That they may repent 8nd forgo the works of their hands$ 3 They shall ha'e no hono&r thro&gh the name of the :ord of /pirits* Ket thro&gh -is name shall they be sa'ed* 8nd the :ord of /pirits will ha'e compassion on them* For -is compassion is great$ 8 8nd -e is righteo&s also in -is B&dgment* 8nd in the presence of -is glory &nrighteo&sness also shall not maintain itself: 8t -is B&dgment the &nrepentant shall perish before -im$ # 8nd from henceforth % will ha'e no mercy on them* saith the :ord of /pirits$ 7hapter #$ $ 8nd in those days shall the earth also gi'e back that which has been entr&sted to it* 8nd /heol also shall gi'e back that which it has recei'ed* 8nd hell shall gi'e back that which it owes$ For in those days the Elect 9ne shall arise* 6 8nd he shall choose the righteo&s and holy from among them: For the day has drawn nigh that they sho&ld be sa'ed$ 3 8nd the Elect 9ne shall in those days sit on 7y throne* 8nd his mo&th shall po&r forth all the secrets of wisdom and co&nsel: For the :ord of /pirits hath gi'en CthemD to him and hath glorified him$ 8
8nd in those days shall the mo&ntains leap like rams* 8nd the hills also shall skip like lambs satisfied with milk* 8nd the faces of EallF #a the angels in hea'en shall be lighted &p with Boy$ #b 8nd the earth shall reBoice* #c 8nd the righteo&s shall dwell &pon it* #d 8nd the elect shall walk thereon$ 7hapter #6 $ 8nd after those days in that place where % had seen all the 'isions of that which is hidden* for 6 % had been carried off in a whirlwind and they had borne me towards the west-There mine eyes saw all the secret things of hea'en that shall be* a mo&ntain of iron* and a mo&ntain of copper* and a mo&ntain of sil'er* and a mo&ntain of gold* and a mo&ntain of soft metal* and a mo&ntain of lead$ 3 8nd % asked the angel who went with me* saying* <hat things are these which % ha'e seen in 8 secretL 8nd he said &nto me: 8ll these things which tho& hast seen shall ser'e the dominion of -is 8nointed that he may be potent and mighty on the earth$ # 8nd that angel of peace answered* saying &nto me: <ait a little* and there shall be re'ealed &nto thee all the secret things which s&rro&nd the :ord of /pirits$ 3 8nd these mo&ntains which thine eyes ha'e seen* The mo&ntain of iron* and the mo&ntain of copper* and the mo&ntain of sil'er* 8nd the mo&ntain of gold* and the mo&ntain of soft metal* and the mo&ntain of lead* 8ll these shall be in the presence of the Elect 9ne 8s wax: before the fire* 8nd like the water which streams down from abo'e E&pon those mo&ntainsF* 8nd they shall become powerless before his feet$ ' 8nd it shall come to pass in those days that none shall be sa'ed* Either by gold or by sil'er* 8nd none be able to escape$ / 8nd there shall be no iron for war* =or shall one clothe oneself with a breastplate$ Bron.e shall be of no ser'ice* 8nd tin Eshall be of no ser'ice andF shall not be esteemed* 8nd lead shall not be desired$ 9 8nd all these things shall be Edenied andF destroyed from the s&rface of the earth* <hen the Elect 9ne shall appear before the face of the :ord of /pirits$ 7hapter #3 $ There mine eyes saw a deep 'alley with open mo&ths* and all who dwell on the earth and sea and islands shall bring to him gifts and presents and tokens of homage* b&t that deep 'alley shall not become f&ll$ 6 8nd their hands commit lawless deeds* 8nd the sinners de'o&r all whom they lawlessly oppress: Ket the sinners shall be destroyed before the face of the :ord of /pirits* 8nd they shall be banished from off the face of -is earth* 8nd they shall perish for e'er and e'er$ 3 For % saw all the angels of p&nishment abiding CthereD and preparing all the instr&ments of /atan$ 8 8nd % asked the angel of peace who went with me: For whom are they preparing these %nstr&mentsL # 8nd he said &nto me: They prepare these for the kings and the mighty of this earth* that they may thereby be destroyed$ 3 8nd after this the >ighteo&s and Elect 9ne shall ca&se the ho&se of his congregation to appear: henceforth they shall be no more hindered in the name of the :ord of /pirits$ ' 8nd these mo&ntains shall not stand as the earth before his righteo&sness* B&t the hills shall be as a fo&ntain of water* 8nd the righteo&s shall ha'e rest from the oppression of sinners$ 7hapter #8 $ 8nd % looked and t&rned to another part of the earth* and saw there a deep 'alley with b&rning 6 fire$ 8nd they bro&ght the kings and the mighty* and began to cast them into this deep 'alley$ 3 8nd there mine eyes saw how they made these their instr&ments* iron chains of immeas&rable weight$ 8 8nd % asked the angel of peace who went with me* saying: For whom are these chains being prepared L 8nd he said &nto me: These are being prepared for the hosts of 8.a.el* so that they may take them and cast them into the abyss of complete condemnation* and they shall co'er their Baws with ro&gh stones as the :ord of /pirits commanded$ 3 8nd 7ichael* and 0abriel* and >aphael* and ?han&el shall take hold of them on that great day* and cast them on that day into the b&rning f&rnace* that the :ord of /pirits may take 'engeance on them for their &nrighteo&sness in becoming s&bBect to /atan and leading astray those who dwell on the earth$ ' 8nd in those days shall p&nishment come from the :ord of /pirits* and he will open all the chambers of waters which are abo'e the hea'ens* and of the fo&ntains which are beneath the earth$ / 8nd all the waters shall be Boined with the waters: that which is abo'e the hea'ens is the masc&line* 9 and the water which is beneath the earth is the feminine$ 8nd they shall destroy all who dwell $( on the earth and those who dwell &nder the ends of the hea'en$ 8nd
when they ha'e recogni.ed their &nrighteo&sness which they ha'e wro&ght on the earth* then by these shall they perish$ 7hapter ## $ 8nd after that the -ead of ;ays repented and said: %n 'ain ha'e % destroyed all who dwell 6 on the earth$ 8nd -e sware by -is great name: -enceforth % will not do so to all who dwell on the earth* and % will set a sign in the hea'en: and this shall be a pledge of good faith between 7e and them for e'er* so long as hea'en is abo'e the earth$ 8nd this is in accordance with 7y command$ 3 <hen % ha'e desired to take hold of them by the hand of the angels on the day of trib&lation and pain beca&se of this* % will ca&se 7y chastisement and 7y wrath to abide &pon them* saith 8 0od* the :ord of /pirits$ Ke mighty kings who dwell on the earth* ye shall ha'e to behold 7ine Elect 9ne* how he sits on the throne of glory and B&dges 8.a.el* and all his associates* and all his hosts in the name of the :ord of /pirits$

depths$ 8nd again % saw in the 'ision till those water torrents were remo'ed from that high roof* and the chasms / of the earth were le'eled &p and other abysses were opened$ Then the water began to r&n down into these* till the earth became 'isible@ b&t that 'essel settled on the earth* and the darkness 9 retired and light appeared$ B&t that white b&ll which had become a man came o&t of that 'essel* and the three b&lls with him* and one of those three was white like that b&ll* and one of them was red as blood* and one black: and that white b&ll departed from them$ $( 8nd they began to bring forth beasts of the field and birds* so that there arose different genera: lions* tigers* wol'es* dogs* hyenas* wild boars* foxes* s5&irrels* swine* falcons* '<&res* kites* eagles* and ra'ens@ ones* and to complain &nto their :ord$ 8nd a sheep which had been sa'ed from the wol'es fled and escaped to the wild asses@ and % saw the sheep how they lamented and cried* and beso&ght their :ord with all their might* till that :ord of the sheep descended at the 'oice of the sheep from a lofty abode* and came to them and past&red them$ $' 8nd -e called that sheep which had escaped the wol'es* and spake with it concerning the wol'es that it sho&ld $/ admonish them not to to&ch the sheep$ 8nd the sheep went to the wol'es according to the word of the :ord* and another sheep met it and went how they oppressed the sheep 6( exceedingly with all their power@ and the sheep cried alo&d$ 8nd the :ord came to the sheep and they began to smite those wol'es: and the wol'es began to make lamentation@ b&t the sheep became 6$ 5&iet and forthwith ceased to cry o&t$ 8nd % saw the sheep till they departed from amongst the wol'es@ b&t the eyes of the wol'es were blinded* and those wol'es departed in p&rs&it of the sheep 66 with all their power$ 8nd the :ord of the sheep went with them* as their leader* and all -is sheep 63 followed -im: and his face was da..ling and glorio&s and terrible to behold$ B&t the wol'es 68 began to p&rs&e those sheep till they reached a sea of water$ 8nd that sea was di'ided* and the water stood on this side and on that before their face* and their :ord led them and placed -imself between 6# them and the wol'es$ 8nd as those wol'es did not yet see the sheep* they proceeded into the midst of that sea* and the wol'es followed the sheep* and those wol'es ran after them into that sea$ 63 8nd when they saw the :ord of the sheep* they t&rned to flee before -is face* b&t that sea gathered itself together* and became as it had been created* and the water swelled and rose till it co'ered 6' those wol'es$ 8nd % saw till all the wol'es who p&rs&ed those sheep perished and were drowned$ 6/ B&t the sheep escaped from that water and went forth into a wilderness* where there was no water and no grass@ and they began to open their eyes and to see@ and % saw the :ord of the sheep 69 past&ring them and gi'ing them water and grass* and that sheep going and leading them$ 8nd that 3( sheep ascended to the s&mmit of that lofty rock* and the :ord of the sheep sent it to them$ 8nd after that % saw the :ord of the sheep who stood before them* and -is appearance was great and 3$ terrible and maBestic* and all those sheep saw -im and were afraid before -is face$ 8nd they all feared and trembled beca&se of -im* and they cried to that sheep with them which was amongst 36 them: <e are not able to stand before o&r :ord or to behold -im$ 8nd that sheep which led them again ascended to the s&mmit of that rock* b&t the sheep began to be blinded and to wander 33 from the way which he had showed them* b&t that sheep wot not thereof$ 8nd the :ord of the sheep was wrathf&l exceedingly against them* and that sheep disco'ered it* and went down from the s&mmit of the rock* and came to the sheep* and fo&nd the greatest part of them blinded and fallen 38 away$ 8nd when they saw it they feared and trembled at its presence* and desired to ret&rn to their 3# folds$ 8nd that sheep took other sheep with it* and came to those sheep which had fallen away* and began to slay them@ and the

not know it* and tho& shalt not declare it to them* nor admonish them* b&t only record against each indi'id&al all the destr&ction which 3# the shepherds effect each in his time and lay it all before me$ 8nd % saw till those shepherds past&red in their season* and they began to slay and to destroy more than they were bidden* and they deli'ered 33 those sheep into the hand of the lions$ 8nd the lions and tigers eat and de'o&red the greater part of those sheep* and the wild boars eat along with them@ and they b&rnt that tower and demolished 3' that ho&se$ 8nd % became exceedingly sorrowf&l o'er that tower beca&se that ho&se of the sheep was demolished* and afterwards % was &nable to see if those sheep entered that ho&se$ 3/ 8nd the shepherds and their associates deli'ered o'er those sheep to all the wild beasts* to de'o&r them* and each one of them recei'ed in his time a definite n&mber: it was written by the other 39 in a book how many each one of them destroyed of them$ 8nd each one slew and destroyed many '( more than was prescribed@ and % began to weep and lament on acco&nt of those sheep$ 8nd th&s in the 'ision % saw that one who wrote* how he wrote down e'ery one that was destroyed by those shepherds* day by day* and carried &p and laid down and showed act&ally the whole book to the :ord of the sheep-Ce'enD e'erything that they had done* and all that each one of them had made '$ away with* and all that they had gi'en o'er to destr&ction$ 8nd the book was read before the :ord of the sheep* and -e took the book from his hand and read it and sealed it and laid it down$ '6 8nd forthwith % saw how the shepherds past&red for twel'e ho&rs* and behold three of those sheep t&rned back and came and entered and began to b&ild &p all that had fallen down of that '3 ho&se@ b&t the wild boars tried to hinder them* b&t they were not able$ 8nd they began again to b&ild as before* and they reared &p that tower* and it was named the high tower@ and they began again to place a table before the tower* b&t all the bread on it was poll&ted and not p&re$ '8 8nd as to&ching all this the eyes of those sheep were blinded so that they saw not* and Cthe eyes ofD their shepherds likewise@ and they deli'ered them in large n&mbers to their shepherds for '# destr&ction* and they trampled the sheep with their feet and de'o&red them$ 8nd the :ord of the sheep remained &nmo'ed till all the sheep were dispersed o'er the field and mingled with them Cthe beastsD* '3 and they Cthe shepherdsD did not sa'e them o&t of the hand of the beasts$ 8nd this one who wrote the book carried it &p* and showed it and read it before the :ord of the sheep* and implored -im on their acco&nt* and beso&ght -im on their acco&nt as he showed -im all the doings '' of the shepherds* and ga'e testimony before -im against all the shepherds$ 8nd he took the act&al book and laid it down beside -im and departed$ 7hapter 9( $ 8nd % saw till that in this manner thirty-fi'e shepherds &ndertook the past&ring Cof the sheepD* and they se'erally completed their periods as did the first@ and others recei'e them into their 6 hands* to past&re them for their period* each shepherd in his own period$ 8nd after that % saw in my 'ision all the birds of hea'en coming* the eagles* the '<&res* the kites* the ra'ens@ b&t the eagles led all the birds@ and they began to de'o&r those sheep* and to pick o&t their eyes and to 3 de'o&r their flesh$ 8nd the sheep cried o&t beca&se their flesh was being de'o&red by the birds* 8 and as for me % looked and lamented in my sleep o'er that shepherd who past&red the sheep$ 8nd % saw &ntil those sheep were de'o&red by the dogs and eagles and kites* and they left neither flesh nor skin nor sinew remaining on them till only their bones stood there: and their bones too fell #
