Question 3
Mark Section Answer
1 3 (a) State a suitable inference
The volume of water displacement affects the buoyant force.

1 (b) State relevant hypothesis (with direction)

The greater the water displacement the greater the buoyant force.

1 (c) Describe a complete and suitable experimental framework

See text book. Experiment of Archimedes Principle
1 State the aim of the experiment
To investigate the relationship between the volume of water displacement
and the buoyant force.
1 State the manipulated variable and the responding variable
mv - the volume of water displacement
rv - buoyant force
1 State the constant variable

cv – the density of water

1 List out the important apparatus and materials
Ureka can, triple beam balance, 100 ml beaker water.

1 State a functionable arrangement of the apparatus

A manometer is connected to thistle funnel with rubber tube
1 State the method of controlling the manipulated variable
Full immerse the weight into water ad collect the water flow out from
ureka can.
1 State the method of measuring the responding variable
Measure the mass of the water collected from ureka can and find the
weight. Where
weight = mass x acceleration due to gravity.
