202 In-class Quiz II

The following is information on in-class Quiz II: 1. The Quiz II date is on 8 and 10 February, 2011 2. Dictionaries is not allowed during the exam 3. Examination contents are mainly from Language Resource and Language Review sections 4. There are 3 parts (30 multiple choice items: 10% of grade; time duration: 70 minutes) Part I: Grammar / writing (10 items) Unit 10 1. Quantifiers 2. Modal verbs + active and passive: should, ought to 3. Reported speech (statement) Unit 11 4. Present perfect progressive / present perfect simple 5. Noun clauses

Something + that + verb+ object/complement is/ are + complement: Ex. Something that really attracts me to video game is its graphics

The thing(s) + that + subject + verb + complement + is/are + complement: Ex. The thing that I dont like about video game is the action and the violence.

6. Conditional (if-clause: 3 types) - Type 1: Possible future - Type 2: Unreal present - Type 3: Unreal past Unit 12 7. Functions of conditionals (if): advice, offers, suggestions, requirements, promises, warnings. Note: Lesson 3 Grammar point on Future Progressive and Future Perfect will not be included in the Quiz II and final exam

1. Quiz contents are from the Language resources and Language reviews of units 10-12. Therefore, please remind your students to do the exercises in the Language Resources, Reviews, and the CD at the back of the students book to prepare them for the quiz. The students can check the answer key for the Language resources and reviews at http://cmuonline.cm.edu. 2. Please also tell your students that there are extra vocabulary words on pages (The pink table on litter problem and solution p.105, Warm up p.108, and Warm up p.118). Therefore, students should review these additional vocabulary words as well as the Language resource sections and the Language review (p.132-133) for both Quiz II and final exam.
