Ministry of Labor Labor Accommodation Terms Labor accommodations should not be exposed to any environmental or industrial pollution.

Pollution measures should not exceed allowed limits if happened. Wind directions and soil characteristics should be taken into consideration. Accessibility to transportation roads and service facilities is mandatory when possible. If not possible shared facilities, gardens (open space), and playgrounds should be constructed. Space between units should be applicable which will allow privacy for each unit. Also, reasonable ventilation and sunlight should be secured for the building. The accommodation ground level should be 20 cm or higher than the external ground level. The minimum area per person in single rooms is 6 squared meters. The rest area/ dining area should not be less than 15 squared meters for accommodations with a capacity of less than 6 people. 2 squared meters should be added per person for any additional occupier. The minimum area of the kitchen is 6 squared meters for accommodations with a capacity of one person. 2 squared meters should be added to kitchen area per person for any additional occupier.

* Kitchen Requirements: Should be in an area opposite to wind direction and also should be in the closest point to the entrance. Natural ventilation should be applicable at all times, a reasonable sized window with micro metal protection, and an exhaust fan should also be applicable. Should be isolated from the bathrooms or any source that may transfer contamination material to the kitchen. Flooring should be made out of elastic material (easy to clean) and should include drainage with proper protection to eliminate insects to enter the kitchen. All kitchen appliances, cooking/storage facilities, and standards should be applicable.

Shower room with a minimum of 4 squared meters with complete standards/building codes should be applicable. The Toilets minimum area is 1.5 squared meters and all standards/building codes should be applicable. (Toilets should be in a distance from other accommodation facilities) A washing room for clothes should be applicable. The minimum ceiling height for rooms, rest areas, and kitchens is 3 meters The minimum door widths and corridors are 0.75 meters and its minimum heights are 2.25 meters. All units, rest areas, and kitchens, and dining rooms should have windows (natural air accessibility). If necessary add micro metal protection to windows (to eliminate insects etc.). All doors and external & internal ceilings should be painted with reasonable colors and material which is easy to clean and also should be fire resistant. Living standards, building codes, health standards, safety standards, and a medical facility should be applicable for the accommodation. Three meals per day per labor should be served (mandatory).

* Shared Accommodation Requirements: 4 squared meters per person in rooms with a bed with a maximum number of 8 beds per room. A minimum of 60 centimeters should be applicable between beds. Each person should have a personal closet. Bathrooms in accordance to codes and standards. (1 bathroom/5 persons) and (1 shower/5 persons).
