GEOCENTRIC PLANETARY INGRESSES (Neptune and Pluto do not change signs in 2003)
In my book, Basic Astrotech (published in 1986), I illustrated how the price of Gold often moved sharply up when H. Mercury went into the sign of Sagittarius and then topped out and price fell when H. Mercury moved into Capricorn. Prices are often at a low point when H. Mercury is in Gemini. As I write my second article for 2003 we are four days into a war with Iraq. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to now know that the war cycle I have talked about in past articles is clearly in effect. Everything came together to initiate the invasion of Iraq in the 3rd week of March 2003. The week prior to the invasion was aggravated by particularly aggressive planetary aspects. The Sun squared Pluto and Saturn. In fact, the Sun triggered the midpoint between Pluto and Saturn setting up a pretty nasty T-Square. At the same time, Venus was conjunct Neptune and opposed Jupiter. It was under this series of aspects that the UN delegates mulled over whether to support the US. The French came on as Sun/Pluto/Saturn to dictate, strong arm, and criticize the US, while the rest of the cowardly crowd crept away with their tails between their legs and disappeared into the woodwork under the Venus/Neptune/Jupiter combination. To our surprise (or maybe not), we discovered that we had very few friends in the UN. The upshot being that we had to go it alone with our few allies and do it fast before our detractors took further steps to confuse the issue and create more worldwide hostility. This is not a new war. We have actually been committed to war since 9/11/01. This is a multi-pronged war. We dealt with Afganistan and now we are dealing with Iraq, but we still have to deal with the Al Qaeda terrorists wherever they are in the world, as well as at some point deal with N. Korea. All of this must happen before the world is safe again. Make no mistake, this is a religious war (reread what I had to say about religion in the January 2003 article). Uranus moved into the sign of Pisces on March 10, 2003 bringing the Pisces issues to an immediate head. Pisces rules religion and Uranus is revolt, rebellion and
upheaval of the Pisces issues. As usual, Uranus didnt waste time, as it was instantly on the job. More importantly, Pisces rules poison, gas, drugs, chemicals, and biological agents, while Uranus can be the trigger for the use of these chemical weapons. Uranus in Pisces is certainly bioterrorism, along with possible unusual technology or delivery methods, innovative use of poisons, gases and chemicals. This is a really serious issue and must not be played down. The US has the guts to face it head on while many countries prefer to live in dreamland and discount the fact that these barbarians can and will use chemical weapons. The US woke up on 9/11/01 and we know barbarians do kill if given the chance. Another rather interesting point to take into consideration is that the country of Iraq is Geodetically placed at 9 Taurus to 19 Taurus. I have talked about Geodetic placements in previous Almanacs, so to get further details reread those articles (back issues can be ordered if you dont have them). Suffice it to say that Greenwich England is 0 East Longitude = 0 Aries. Iraq covers approximately 39 East Longitude to 49 East Longitude. This converts to 9 to 19 of Taurus. The importance of 9 - 19 Taurus is that these particular degrees are being squared by, lo and behold, the planet Neptune! This aspect started in full force in February 2003 and will continue on for a number of years. The point here being that if chemical weapons are used within Iraq on our troops, it could backfire on Iraq and leave residue and damage to their own country that takes years to overcome. How long can war last? See my article The Year 2001 in Review. This article spells it out. Another point of importance is the sensitive degree issue talked about in detail

in the 1st quarter 2002 issue of the Almanac. The war with Iraq was initiated when Pluto was coming to a station, turning retrograde in order to transverse those sensitive degrees again. This heralds heightened terrorist alerts and attacks as well as energizes the war. All planetary cycles and aspects aside, I am hoping for a short war. What I hope for and what I get, of course, may be two entirely different things. But, I personally would like to see the war over before Saturn moves into Cancer (June 3, 2003). Once Saturn changes signs I think it will be far tougher for us to succeed, and especially to succeed in a speedy manner. Historically, Saturns transit of the sign of Cancer has not been kind to the USA. In the past, it has put a halt to economic growth and has been a period of recession. At the same time, it works in tandem with the nodal cycle in real estate. The nodal cycle is already in the topping and rolling over mode for real estate prices. With the Saturn in Cancer cycle added to it, we will see real estate prices start to fall in many areas of the country. Sell that property now! Saturns last transit of Cancer in 197374, for your reference, it brought a recession as well as the build up to a particularly nasty resignation by President Nixon. Why does Saturn in Cancer affect the US adversely? Because the USA is a Cancer country, born on July 4 with its natal Sun placed at 12 of Cancer. We are a successful country due to Jupiter and Venus conjunct the Sun also in Cancer. Venus at 2 and Jupiter at 5. These two planets assist the Sun (us / our country) in being expansive, benevolent, successful and positive. However, when Saturn passes over these planets a contraction occurs. First of all, let me say it is Saturns job to rein in, contract and tidy up in all areas that are overgrown. Saturn is natures way of keeping it all under control. As I have said many times in the past, Saturn goes in and weeds the garden, cuts back all of the weeds and overgrowth, so that the good plants can grow in a healthy manner. The end result of the Saturn transit is positive,
although while in its weeding mode, it seems awfully harsh. It is only after the fact that we recognize what a good job was done. With all this in mind, lets see the major areas Saturn will impact in the 2003-2004 period. Naturally, all things ruled by the sign of Cancer will be up for an overhaul. These are all businesses related to food, such as groceries, restaurants, catering, etc. Cancer rules homes and all home related products, such as furniture, home construction, real estate, hotels, bed and breakfasts, and all kinds of lodging. Saturn in Cancer can appear to put a damper on all of the above. It is time to consolidate on home ground (USA) to pull in and shore up our foundations in all of the above areas, for individuals in general and for the country as a whole. Saturns consolidation can cause limitations and shortages of some materials used in the above list. This could impact stocks in the Cancer arena, shortages could cause stock prices to go up. But on the other hand, if Saturn is in the pruning back mode in the Cancer sector, it will show as reduced value of stock. At the end of Saturns term in Cancer, June 2004, expect to see that Saturn has trimmed up the Cancer garden and brought all Cancer affairs and businesses back to a firm foundation upon which they can now safely expand upon for years to come. On a national level, Saturn directs its energy very personally onto the chart of the USA. As it makes its conjunction with Venus and Jupiter in June and July 2003, expect to see it impact our finances and economy, and to see the news media alive with negative economic news. The government can expect plenty of criticism and sour grapes. This will be a one time pass of Saturn over Venus and Jupiter, but since they are tied to the USA Sun by a conjunction, and therefore they will continue to be affected. Saturn reaches the Sun in September and October 2003 and stations on it, retrogrades and then makes a final and third pass over the USA Sun in June 2004. By June 2004, the USA will have had its national and economic foundation pruned back and can

now expand and grow in a very positive manner. Meanwhile, the Sun in a countrys natal chart represents its leader, President Bush. Saturns transit over the Sun shows he will be under great stress, he will be criticized by the world and by many of his own countrymen. It is also a crisis time for the country, not only economically, but because we are at war. Saturn was in Cancer during the 1914-18 war, WWII and at the end of the Vietnam conflict, and now we are at war with terrorists whereever they are in the world. While the USA chart shows great stress for our leader, President Bushs own natal chart confirms this stress for he was born on July 6 with his natal Sun in conjunction with the US Sun. While this makes him a natural to lead the country, and as history will prove, hell be a much loved president, but under the present double Saturn aspect this translates into double stress for him. Although transiting Saturn does not quite reach the Presidents Sun in October 2003 while conjunct the US Sun, it does station within half a degree of the Presidents Sun and therefore will affect him. So, what does all of this mean for the country and the president? To answer this question we must include another cycle that is currently in effect and forms a backdrop to Saturns transit over the USA Sun and the Presidents Sun. The backdrop is the Jupiter/ Saturn conjunction cycle as related to US Presidents. I recently wrote an Almanac article outlining this cycle in detail, called Question: Is The Winner The Loser? Reread this article now to get a clear picture of the cycle. You will immediately understand how it can combine with the Saturn/double Sun aspects of June 2003-June 2004. In brief, the backdrop cycle is often called the death of a President cycle. (Last year when writing about this for the Almanac, I had a different view on it than I have this year, simply because Robert died with Saturn conjunct his Sun in October 2002. For this reason my heart and prayers go out to the President and I sincerely hope he comes through this cycle without incident.)
Some of the things the President can do to help himself during this period is to first cut out as much stress as possible. Take extra care of his health. Dont travel abroad, stay home, avoid large gatherings, improve personal security and their vigilance of assassins and terrorists. The September/October 2003 period is particularly critical. Here are some important aspects to watch. * September/October 2003 Saturn conjunct and station over USA Sun and the Presidents Sun. * Presidents progressed Sun and his own chart is within one degree conjunction of his natal Mars. * Transit Mars goes retrograde opposite natal Mars and progressed Sun in July and August 2003 and makes its final pass the first week of November 2003. * Transiting Jupiter in Virgo will oppose transiting Mars, while at the same time will conjunct progressed Sun and natal Mars in September and October 2003. The above are just a few of the very critical aspects during the SeptemberNovember time window. In regards to the US economy and the DJIA, for several years I have predicted a bottom to form in the DJIA in the October through December 2003 time window. Transiting Saturn over the US Sun also confirms this low as well as an economic low June 2003June 2004. After this period, the DJIA will be free to start its long term move up through to 2009. Other energies at work during this same period will give further insight to unfolding events. Uranus moved into Pisces as of March 10, 2003, boosting innovation and new technology in all areas under the rulership of Pisces. But, lets not forget that Uranus energy is erratic, impulsive, explosive, instant, disruptive, and revolutionary too. If you remember when Uranus went into Aquarius, the sign it rules, we had an explosion in all computer and internet related businesses. That bubble burst when Neptune went into Aquarius and pulled the rug out from under the Aquarius market and suddenly it all went down

the drain. Now we have the opposite scenario. Uranus is transiting Neptunes sign, Pisces. This means that if Pisces has any bubbles Uranus will prick them. The areas of business and life ruled by Pisces are as follows: in general, all hospitals and medical facilities and all people who work with or in them. These could definitely benefit from some Uranus innovation! Pisces rules all addictive things such as drugs, alcohol, cigarettes, caffeineated drinks (soda, coffee, tea, etc.) innovation here can be a mixed blessing - use your imagination. Other areas are the arts, artists, photography, film, movies, and creativity in general. Pisces also rules the feet and we can watch the innovative shoe fashions during this period! Whatever happens, Pisces ruled businesses will never be the same after Uranus gets through with them. Jupiter will also change signs from Leo into Virgo on August 27, 2003 and will be in this sign for approximately one year. Jupiter will expand the Virgo stocks helping many go up in price. On the other hand, watch for Jupiter to flood the market in some areas. In this case, expect a big drop in price. Virgo ruled businesses are all service related businesses in general and specifically health care, health services, medical services, and supplies. To complicate all weve discussed so far there is a difficult business period for everyone starting with Mercury going retrograde April 26, 2003. As we have discussed previously, communications and business in general is a no go during the Mercury retrograde period, unless, of course, you are born under a Mercury retrograde period and then this is your lucky time! Although these Mercury retrograde periods are poor for business in a minor way, they take on more importance when combined with major aspect periods. What is important here is that Mercury is retrograde April 26 to May 20 and before Mercury really has time to gather any speed, Saturn moves into Cancer and changes the economic picture. Then, by July 29, Mars goes
Retrograde. Mars is energy and progress in business, so we lose that until Mars turns direct on September 27, 2003. Think in terms of Mercury greasing conversation and communication, and Mars greasing progress and direction. When these planets are retrograde there is no grease, business progress is tough to achieve. Mercury goes retrograde again during the Mars retrograde period. This double retrograde whammy tends to glue up everything from August 28 to September 20. By the time Mars is direct on September 27, Saturn is conjunct the US Sun through November. So, now you can see why there are few business bright spots between April 26 and the end of the year. Another interesting point to note is that in April Mercury will turn retrograde at 20 of Taurus to 11 of Taurus. Do these degrees strike a familiar note? This retrograde falls right over Iraq! This can certainly complicate and confuse the issues over there. Mercury is miscommunication in general, but this will be heightened for Taurus ruled affairs such as financial services and businesses, banks, brokerage, markets, jewelry and luxury related businesses. The total Lunar Eclipse (May 15), visible in the Americas, Europe and Africa, occurs while Mercury is still retrograde and could bring things to a head or a crisis, because of the retrogrde not much will be resolved. This is a Scorpio eclipse and could heighten terrorist activity. Mercury turns direct on May 20 and the next week hums with activity as Sun squares Uranus, Mars sextiles Pluto, and Venus squares Jupiter, which are all strong market reversal aspects. The Solar Eclipse brings everything to a head again on May 31 and is tied in with Jupiter opposite Neptune on June 2 and Saturn into Cancer on June 3, making for a busy market week. A look at your calendar will tell you how busy and active June will be, especially June 22-24 and June 28. There are five planets within 20 orb. To be continued...

APRILS JUPITER STATION: IS OPPORTUNITY KNOCKING AT YOUR DOOR?

Planetary stations occur when a planet appears to be at a stand still geocentrically from the earths perspective. A planet can go stationary direct or stationary retrograde. If a planet has been traveling forward, when it goes stationary retrograde, it appears to stop for awhile and then travel backwards. The reverse is true when the planet goes stationary direct. The planet Jupiter has been going retrograde since December 3rd, 2002. Notice how the stock indices made a top the day before and then went south. This is the usual case, as the stock market usually goes down or sideways during the retrograde period of Jupiter. The planet Jupiter will finally go direct once again on April 3rd at 08 degrees and 4 minutes of Leo. These planetary stations usually bring reversals in the markets and are strong periods of focused energy at the degree of the zodiac where the planet goes station and appears to stand still from the earths view. Since the outer planets, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto have a slower speed than the inner planets, these planetary stations can be especially potent in bringing longer term reversal periods. The outer planets, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto can stay within a one degree range for as long as a few months. Jupiter and Saturn can appear to stand still within this same narrow one degree orb for about two months. When the degrees of a planetary station get hit in the natal 1st Trade charts for stocks or commodities, it usually brings a significant turning point. The same rules apply in your own natal chart. Review important events that have occurred in your past, and you will see that in most cases a degree in your own personal chart got triggered by a planetary
station. Jupiter, the largest planet in our solar system, is one of the money planets associated with growth, expansion, and increase. The first step is to check your own natal chart to see if this particular planetary station for Jupiter is favorable or unfavorable for you personally. Jupiter is also a planet of perception and judgment. Good judgment calls are usually a prerequisite for increased rewards and monetary gains. On the other hand, poor judgment decisions usually result in monetary losses in business and trading. Are you overly optimistic and missing important details? Or are you tuned in intuitively with a keen perception of the bigger picture? The strongest, usually most beneficial aspect is the conjunction (0 degrees). The conjunction can be the most rewarding but also can let things get out of hand and over-inflated. A conscious effort to express moderation and to hold onto to any gains that come along is equally important if you are experiencing a conjunction from transiting Jupiter. The other favorable aspects are the sextile (60 degrees), and trine (120 degrees). The stressful aspects are the semi-sextile (30 degrees), semi-square (45 degrees), square (90 degrees), sesqui-square (135 degrees), quincunx (150 degrees), and opposition (180 degrees). The good news is that you dont have to be an astrological wiz to know what aspects are getting hit in your own natal chart by the Jupiter station. You can run a search from our Galactic Stock Trader program and let the computer do all the work for you. Once you input your birth information into the program, click on the planet Jupiter and the aspects and planets to search for, and a complete list will be displayed. If you are picking up some favorable aspects from the degree of the Jupiter station, opportunity is probably knocking at your door. If not, opportunity

is probably knocking at one of your neighbors door instead this time around. If this is the case, go pay your neighbor a visit! The next step is to determine which stocks or commodities are most likely to be energized in a positive way from the Jupiter station. Using the search feature in the Galactic Stock Trader, you simply select the planet Jupiter and click on searches at multiples of 60 for the entire list of stocks or commodities in the database. The result will be a complete list of all the stocks or commodities that have planets at the degree of the Jupiter station forming a conjunction (0 degrees), sextile (60 degrees), trine (120 degrees), or opposition (180 degrees). Pay special attention to the ones that are
receiving the conjunction. Avoid the ones with the opposition aspect, as this tends to be more stressful. Remember, a favorable aspect from the Jupiter station can last for about two whole months! This another nice edge to have if youre looking for one. (See example of a search).

Once you have narrowed down your picks from the list, you can also run another search to see if these same stocks or commodities are receiving hard aspects (multiples of 45 degrees) from the planet Saturn. These transits tend to depress prices. Eliminate from the Jupiter list the ones that are receiving too many stressful aspects from the planet Saturn during the same period. Finally, use the market timing and technical tools from the Fibonacci/Galactic Trader for your entry points. As an example of putting the some of the tools together, one of the stocks that came up in my search is the energy company Arch Coal, symbol ACI. In the price chart shown as of 03/ 21, I have on Jupiter planetary lines at the 24th harmonic or 15 setting, 1.5 points apart. Notice how well these lines have defined support and resistance. The trend is up in the daily time frame based on the Gann Swing Chartist turning green since 02/21, and the dynamic trio (stair step) also
underneath prices. Both of these technical indicators are from the Fibonacci Trader. I also colored the bar for when the transit of Jupiter forms an exact conjunction to ACIs Moon. ACI began trading on August 11, 1988. It has the Moon at 08 degrees and 33 minutes of Leo (see chart example). The station of Jupiter on April 3rd, will be conjunct its Moon within a half of a degree. You will also notice that ACI has its Sun and Mercury at later degrees of Leo as well. These two additional planets will also receive positive conjunctions from Jupiter later in the year. This is one example of a stock that could be a good candidate once it is screened further and analyzed from a technical perspective. If your own chart is also getting triggered positively from the Jupiter station, you then have the best of both worlds. A positive aspect in your own natal chart and a positive aspect in the 1st Trade chart for the stock or commodity you are trading at the same time. Happy searching!

RETROGRADE PRICE REPETITIONS

Introduction This article takes a look at how the times when Mercury goes retrograde and direct can be used to forecast price repetitions in soybeans. First, well have a quick discussion of retrograde and direct motion. All the planets move around the earth in a counter-clockwise direction and are never retrograde, i.e. moving, or appearing to move, backwards. But when viewed from the earth, geocentrically, an optical illusion can take place that makes it seems as though the planets are moving backwards. One way this phenomenon is described is to imagine sitting in a moving train and passing another slower moving train. For a period of time this train appears to be moving backwards although in reality its not. In a similar manner the apparent motion between the earth and other planets makes it seem as though the other planets are sometimes moving backward. The actual longitudinal positions of the planets as listed in a geocentric ephemeris will decrease during the times when they are retrograde and increase again when the planet is direct. In other words a planet will retrace where its been during these retrograde periods. Once the planet again goes direct it will retrace where its been, in longitude, while it was retrograde. The Method Other articles in this almanac have described how the price of soybeans repeats between Sun and Mercury direct and retrograde conjunctions. Prices also repeat between 15 Sun/Mercury aspects, with the price repeating at the 15 aspect that precedes or succeeds the direct or retrograde conjunctions respectively. The price of soybeans is considered to repeat if the price bars on the days of the aspects overlap
or are within multiples of 24 cents. Prices on different days being within a multiple of 24 cents means they would overlap on the wheel of 24. This overlap is considered a repetition. It seems logical that since Mercury retraces the same position in the zodiac during its direct and retrograde cycle that there would be interesting ways that prices repeat during this cycle, and indeed there are. Look for and expect soybean price repetitions to occur in the following two situations: When Mercury goes retrograde note its position in degrees and expect the price to repeat the next time Mercury is at the same position while direct. When Mercury goes direct note its position in degrees and expect price on that date to repeat with the previous time Mercury was at this position when direct. In both cases Mercury is crossing back over a point where it has recently been, therefore the repetition. Examples To illustrate this phenomenon well look at price action on two recent charts, March 2002 and March 2003 soybeans. Lets first look at Figure 1, March 2002 beans. We see that Mercury went retrograde on Sep 14, 2002 (point A) at 193.19 degrees. Once Mercury goes direct it will again pass over this same degree. The next time Mercury is at 193.19 degrees is on Oct 22, 2002 as shown in the chart. The price range on Sep 14 was 567.5 to 576.6 and on Oct 22 it was 549 to 553.5. Adding 24 to the 549 low gives 573, which is within the range of the second date, therefore a repetition. The next time Mercury goes retrograde is Jan 2, 2003 at 298.38 degrees. Mercury next passes over this degree while direct on Feb 11,

2003. The price range on the retrograde date was 565 to 582.5 and on Feb 11 it was 560.5 to 572.5, clearly a repetition. Now well look at a couple of examples of how prices repeat around the Mercury direct dates. Mercury goes direct (point B) on Oct 6 at 178.41 degrees. The prior time, when direct, that it was at this degree was on Aug 26. The price range on Oct 6 was 543.5 to 550.75 and on Aug 26 it was 542.5 to 549, again an overlap. Mercury again goes direct (point D) on Jan 22, 2003 at 282.41 degrees. The prior time when it was at the same degree was on Dec 17. The price range on Jan 22 was 557 to 564.4 and on Dec 17 it was 552.25 to 559, again an overlap. To further illustrate this well quickly look at another chart, Figure 2, of March 2002 soybeans. First well examine the retrograde price repetitions and then those of the Mercury direct period. Mercury goes retrograde (point A) on Oct 1, 2001 at 209.63 degrees and crosses over this degree again, while direct, on Nov 7. Looking at
the chart we can see that the prices overlap. The next retrograde period starts on Jan 18, 2002 at 314.48 degrees. Mercury crosses this degree again while direct on Mar 1 and again prices repeat. Turning to the direct periods, we see that Mercury went direct (Figure 2, point C) on Oct 22, 2001 at 194.34 degrees. The prior time it was at this degree position while direct was Sep 11. The market never opened that day due to the events at the World Trade Center so well compare prices of the previous day or the following. In either case they overlap at a 48 cent interval. The last time on this chart that Mercury goes direct is on Feb 8, 2002 at 298.63 degrees. The prior time it was at this position while direct is on Jan 3. In this case price does not repeat but it doesnt miss by much. This non-repetition does happen, although not frequently. Most of the time if it doesnt occur on one contract month it will on another which is most often the month with the largest open interest.

Summary This article has described a simple method that will allow you predict the area soybean prices will be on certain dates. Its based on the Mercury direct and retrograde cycle and
the fact that during this cycle Mercury crosses back over a position it has recently been. As Mercury is an important factor in the price of soybeans it shouldnt be surprising that this cycle correlates nicely with the price of soybeans.
