The Purpose of this Manual


The Graphic Standard Manual is an approved document that contains rules and guidelines concerning the use of the Westward II: Heroes of the Frontier visual identity from the games logo marks to typography and characters. Creativity and flexibility are essential elements in any successful visual communications program. These are to be exercised, however, with the broad guidelines described and illustrated in this manual. In order for this graphic standards and style guide to be effective, it must be applied in a consistent manner. This manual has been designed to assist anyone involved in the development of Sandlot Games visual or external communications, including outside vendors such as advertising and sales promotion agencies, publishers, partners, game portals, design firms, printers and sign manufacturers. Westward II: Heroes of the Frontier Logo Mark


The Westward II: Heroes of the Frontier logo mark is a unique and proprietary rendition of the name Westward II: Heroes of the Frontier and is linked directly to the game title. It has been carefully developed to represent the games core identity attributes. The elements that make up these logo marks are linked in fixed relationships and should not be altered or redrawn in any way. To ensure consistency in application always use approved logo mark reproduction art. All requests for logo mark masters should be made from the Corporate Marketing Department at Sandlot Games.

The Westward II: Heroes of the Frontier logo mark is the cornerstone of the visual identity system and is the primary identifier.

Service Mark & Legal Requirement


The Westward II: Heroes of the Frontier logo mark and the communicative name Westward II: Heroes of the Frontier are trademarked logo marks of Sandlot Games Corporation. The communicative name Westward II is a registered trademark of Sandlot Games Corporation. Illustrated on this page are examples of the legal and communicative names for use in copy. The communicative name is to be used whenever possible, and the legal name is for use only when legally required. Logo Marks must always be used in accordance with the guidelines on the pages that follow. Always use approved logo mark reproduction art. Do not try to have identity elements reproduced by camera, scanner or other means from the pages in this manual. The use of the Westward II: Heroes of the Frontier name in a document or body of text must never break or be hyphenated. Minimum Size
In order to ensure legibility and reproduction quality, a minimum reproducible size limitation has been established for all logo marks. These minimum sizes are indicated to the right. When printing on rough or unusual surfaces, it is always a good idea to increase the minimum specified size to ensure that all logo mark elements are legible. Note: In rare instances where it may be necessary to reproduce the logo mark at a smaller size, please submit your request for permission to use the logo mark to the Sandlot Games Corporate Marketing Department for approval. Innapropriate Logo Usage


The examples at right show unacceptable logo mark applications. Embellishments, variations or modifications to logo marks are incorrect. Any distortions or alterations in the design, however well meaning, will give the logo marks a different character, thereby defeating their effectiveness and unifying function.

Using the typography without the logo mark.

Rotating, stretching or skewing the logo mark.

Changing the colors of the logo mark.

Embelleshing the logo mark with any additional elements.

Character Art
These are the approved images of the heroes of Westward II: Heroes of the Frontier for use in all marketing and advertising communications related to Westward II: Heroes of the Frontier. The hero characters should be secondary to the Westward II: Heroes of the Frontier logo mark in the visual hierarchy of any communications or marketing artwork.

This background is provided for use in print and electronic communications and advertising to enhance the visual appeal as well as to maintain the artistic style of the game throughout all marketing efforts.

Box Shot
The Westward II: Heroes of the Frontier box shot is a pre-made graphic representing the game. As most Sandlot Games titles are released electronically through internet portals, we provide the box shot image to represent the game in lieu of an actual physical box. It also serves as an example of how to combine the logo mark, character art and background image for other communication and marketing efforts.

Typography
The consistent use of the primary Westward II: Heroes of the Frontier typeface will provide an added measure of distinction and memorability to the system. The typeface represented on this page has been chosen as part of our identity system and should be used whenever possible. As a display typeface its use should be reserved for headlines, call-outs and other unique uses and should not be used as body copy.
