Deuteronomy 16:1-8 PASSOVER PM Audio lecture from the Book of Deuteronomy on the subject of the Passover taught by Pastor

Arnold Murray of the Shepherd's Chapel. The following is a student transcript of an original audio cassette. Pastor Arnold Murray: Deuteronomy. These words, the title in the Hebrew tongue. These words that I like to call the law as it is to the average family. The law that pertains to the priest is left out of the Book of Deuteronomy because Moses was addressing the congregation and those things, I feel as I hope you have by this point inasmuch as we will begin the 16th chapter today---that the reason he did this is because it looks on, it looks forward to the arrival of Christ. The Messiah. At His first advent. Because there would be many things discussed in this Book of Deuteronomy that He would become. As a matter of fact we are going to find that out in this lecture coming right out the gate as we start here today. So with a word of wisdom from our Father, chapter 16, the Book of Deuteronomy, let's go with it. V1 "OBSERVE THE MONTH OF ABIB, AND KEEP THE PASSOVER UNTO THE LORD THY GOD: FOR IN THE MONTH OF ABIB THE LORD THEY GOD BROUGHT THEE FORTH OUT OF EGYPT BY NIGHT." It was a rapid departure, yet they left much richer than they went in, thought they had been in slavery there they increased in population as well as many other things in that four hundred years approximately. Give or take, take that would be, then they had than when they went in. So we see then, Father says "Keep the Passover." Naturally, inasmuch as Passover was that time that the death angel passed over Israel, over basically we should say the children of God. Those that believed upon Him. Those that would follow His instructions. In other words He said `put the blood on the post--or else'. But really its all that simple today also. You either have that blood on your door post--or else. And of course, Christ became our Passover. And what I'm saying is, you either have Him or you're nothing. You're really nothi! ng. You may be around this flesh age but that will be it friend. And at the end of that you have basically run your course. But if you obey God, what is His voice? Love My Son. For in loving Him, you show your love toward Me. So as well as being freed from bondage or slavery to this world, and that's kind of what its symbolic of. You can still be in slavery today if you choose. You can be enslaved by habits or simply turning to the ways of the world and be a slave to it. And many of you are. All of us to a certain degree or as long as we are in the flesh are going to have certain things that keep pulling us into the world. Therefore with Christ being that Sacrificial Lamb having paid the price on the cross, through repentance brings us freedom indeed. Both from the world and from death which is to say resurrected into eternal life. I want to document that fact that keep Passover, you bet. It was an eternal thing. But what is our Passover? I want you to turn with me to I Corinthians chapter 5. I want to pick it up with verse seven and let's listen to the teachings here. God speaking through Paul. And it reads. "PURGE OUT THEREFORE THE OLD LEAVEN, THAT YE MAY BE A NEW LUMP," In other words, this is you might say this is kind of a new command just like the old "AS YE ARE UNLEAVENED." In other words, unleavened what? By being tainted by the world. "FOR EVEN CHRIST OUR PASSOVER IS SACRIFICED FOR US:" Hey, we couldn't do it friend. There had to be a perfect sacrifice. Not one blemish. Not one spot. He had to be innocent. There's just no other human being that way. So Christ became our Passover and you had better keep it friend. If you wish any freedom whatsoever from this world and a release into eternal life, that's the only way. There is none other. Absolutely no other way. Verse 8. "THEREFORE LET US KEEP THE FEAST, NOT WITH OLD LEAVEN, NEITHER WITH THE LEAVEN OF MALICE AND WICKEDNESS; BUT WITH THE UNLEAVENED BREAD OF SINCERITY AND TRUTH." What is our unleavened bread at this time? The body of Christ. Christ said `I am the Bread of Life." The I Am being the sacred Name. `EHYEH `ASHER `EHYEH in the Hebrew tongue of Yahweh. So you see then our Passover, that Christ did not destroy this law but fulfilled it and became our Passover. A Passover that in the Eucharist or in Holy Communion we partake of that Passover symbolically but yet a reality even to this day. You're supposed to keep it. Let's return to the sixteenth chapter and let's talk about Passover as well as other feast days in this particular chapter. Verse 2. Sixteen. Deuteronomy. "THOU SHALT THEREFOR SACRIFICE THE PASSOVER UNTO THE LORD THY GOD, OF THE FLOCK AND THE HERD, IN THE PLACE WHICH THE LORD SHALL CHOOSE TO PLACE HIS NAME THERE." Where did God decide to place His Name? Do you know what the Name Jesus is? When you say Jesus do you realize what you're saying? Naturally that's English. But let's translate it--or transliterate it, better said--back to the Hebrew a moment. Jehoshua. Now, rather than translating it simply from Jesus to Jehoshua, let's fully translate it. And it says Jehovah's Savior. So God's Name is nailed into the Name Savior, Jehoshua, or Jesus in the English. As a teacher I always use both Names, or sometimes more, whereby as a student the ear learns that Sacred Name. The Name, the place where God put His Name--where then? In Christ. Jehoshua. Then not only then are you ta! king the sacrifice that Christ brought to pass for you, for your sins. I'm talking to you.

And your sins then are nailed to the cross just as sure as they can be when you repent in that place, and you are participating in the place where God Himself has placed Passover for you---that is to say in Christ. Well then, what geographical location are you talking about? Christ is everywhere. There will be a time when He will be on a throne, the throne of David back on this earth. The Prince will be there also. And we will take that Passover with Him even at that time. That that will be sacrificed will be your love for Him. So the thing is this: I do now know how God could have made it any easier for His children to obey His command in keeping the Passover and the rest of the Holy Days as far as that's concerned because Christ became those things and He is in you whatever your geographical location. There is no reason you cannot partake. Even if you partake alone. And it is for th! at reason that we here at Shepherd's Chapel about three times a year d o take with you on air the Passover. Holy Communion. Giving you the opportunity to participate for as we gather through the ether waves or the air waves whichever you wish to say, then we fellowship in that Holy Spirit for He is everywhere. God has made it so simple for you that anyone, anyone who chooses to believe, anyone who chooses to love Him. For those events, the freedom He has given us. I do not understand how some people can stay branded and drugged out, losing family, friends and country. As far as that's concerned, because as far as I am concerned--if you are incarcerated and lose your freedom you lose your country because this is a nation of freedoms. I don't understand why that person wouldn't partake of He that can bring you above that, can bring you out of it. And allow you to be a child of good standing with our Father that owns everything, and be an inheritor thereof. Verse 3. "THOU SHALT EAT NO LEAVENED BREAD WITH IT; SEVEN DAYS SHALT THOU EAT UNLEAVENED BREAD THEREWITH, EVEN THE BREAD OF AFFLICTION;" Mark that in your mind. "FOR THOU CAMEST FORTH OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT IN HASTE: THAT THOU MAYEST REMEMBER THE DAY WHEN THOU CAMEST FORTH OUT OF THE LAND OF EGYPT ALL THE DAYS OF THY LIFE." I'm going to tell you something. That old death angel is still around. That angel that God allowed to go and kill all the first born. He's still very much around. And I assure you as long as you keep the seal of our people on your door post, he will pass over your house if you order him so in the Name of Jehoshua. There will be no demonic presence past that door post. What is this bread of affliction? First let's take it for the material reason: why is it unleavened? Because in leaving in haste it was not going to have time to rise. Alright have you ever watched bread? And work up the dough and put the yeast in it. And roll her out and pat her down a! nd its flatter than a pancake. Alright? The yeast if it were given time it would rise. He said don't even put the yeast in it to remind you you had to do it in haste and there wasn't time for it to rise. And it wasn't very tasty and the bread of affliction makes that symbolic then that it is kind of flat. That so was the life under the bondage of Egypt. Well, hey, don't say that that's past history. There are many of you who are under bondage today, my friends. And this was only a type to show you what this bondage of today could be. Do you know what the greatest bondage of all is? Ignorance concerning the Father's Word. Many people are in bondage to the ways of this world because they don't know any better. Because they are ignorant of God's Word . Have not been taught. Whose fault is it then? The teacher's fault? Well, perhaps that man rather than teaching as he should have went into church business. I don't know. Or did God intend it that way? I don't like to blame your ! problems on someone else. I like to blame my problems on me and your problems on you. Do you know why? If I can accomplish having you see your own problems and what you can do about it, you will do something about it. If you're ignorant of that, then there's no way you're going to know. So, and you can be in that bread of affliction today and not even know it if you are ignorant of Father's Word and what His instructions, what His love is. That He's saying `child come home, let Me take care of you, let Me elevate all that pain of the world, keep My feast, accept My Passover which is to say Christ, and come out the affliction.' Hey, its up to you, friend. There's not a thing in the world stopping you other than yourself. He made it that easy for you. Do it in haste. Come out! And come into His beautiful truth. Come into His Passover whereby He can share that love and you can be happy. Study your Father's Word whereby you are not ignorant of things that are eternal. Verse 4. "AND THERE SHALL BE NO LEAVENED BREAD SEEN WITH THEE IN ALL THY COAST SEVEN DAYS;" In other words, for that seven day period you're going to eat that bread of affliction. "NEITHER SHALL THERE ANY THING OF THE FLESTH, WHICH THOU SACRIFICEDST THE FIRST DAY AT EVEN, REMAIN ALL NIGHT UNTIL THE MORNING." In a sense I like to explain that in this way. In the first place, they were leaving with haste. But as far as meat is concerned, I like to symbolically use that for deeper truth. Alright? Who was going to give them meat in the desert? There wasn't any as far as they were concerned. Who gave the meat in the desert? God did. He caused that wonderful bird the quail to fall upon them. Which by the grace of God gave them meat that would carry them. And manna the bread of the angels to sup with. But what He's saying in a sense is, "If you're in My Word, tomorrow will take care of itself." That is not to say you're not to plan for it. But in the sense that you know even in ! planning for it, that God would preserve you. God will see that you are blessed. Alright? And He will. Now. Verse 5. "THOU MAYEST NOT SACRIFICE THE PASSOVER WITHIN ANY OF THY GATES, WHICH THE LORD THY GOD GIVETH THEE:"

6. "BUT AT THE PLACE WHICH THE LORD THY GOD SHALL CHOOSE TO PLACE HIS NAME IN, THERE THOU SHALT SACRIFICE THE PASSOVER AT EVEN, AT THE GOING DOWN OF THE SUN, AT THE SEASON THAT THOU CAMEST FORTH OUT OF EGYPT." So you see beloved, when you partake of that Passover. And I personally will say--do it on the solar calendar. If you are a real Christian you should do it on the solar calendar. If that all possible. I don't care if you are at a gathering or where, or if you're home or wherever you are when that solar day comes around--do it. It happens at the same instant every year. There's no so many days in this month or so many days in that month. And people get it all confused. On the solar calendar it happens at the same instant every year. I have a tape titled "God's Calendar". I think is the name of that. If not I'll tell you at a later date. That will instruct you how to understand the solar calendar. After all, solar is the sun and we're children of the day. Not night. T! hat's satan's hour. Alright. Verse 7. "AND THOU SHALT ROAST" I'm sorry. I want to make more comment. Just hold that Scripture right there. Again, where was the place that God placed His Name? In Jehoshua. Wherever you are. You don't have to worry about a geographical location. Partake. "AND THOU SHALT ROAST AND EAT IT IN THE PLACE WHICH THE LORD THY GOD SHALL CHOOSE: AND THOU SHALT TURN IN THE MORNING, AND GO UNTO THY TENTS." Well, our sacrifice was committed at a time, at a moment, at a place that God had chosen that He should be crucified. That He should be raised up on the cross to be the Sacrificial Lamb for one and all time. And as it is written in Hebrews 10. He would say, Lo, I come in the volume of the book. Why? That's what this book is about. These words. Your Father's plan. I come in the volume of the book for it is written long ago how our Passover would take place in that city. In that street He would walk. On that hill Golgatha that He would climb. And that sacrifice continues ! on in the sacraments for you and He becomes your Passover. Again., these words from Deuteronomy are only a type of what would be. Good reading with this is Colossians chapter two. Don't ever forget it. If you are having a little trouble understanding of following me, simply read Colossians chapter two and it will fall right into place for you. Alright? Now. Verse 8. "SIX DAYS THOU SHALT EAT UNLEAVENED BREAD: AND ON THE SEVENTH DAY SHALL BE A SOLEMN ASSEMBLY TO THE LORD THY GOD: THOU SHALT DO NO WORK THEREIN." There is so much in our Father's Word as far as types or that that is symbolic. But also knowledge. I want you to think for a moment back to II Peter chapter three along about verse 6 or 7 where it is written--do not be ignorant of this one thing, that a thousand years is as one day with our Lord. Do you see then what is embedded within that Passover. Do you think God looks at the short haul? To Him this would be a short haul. To us it isn't. What it really says in the Lord's calendar six days, how long is a day with our Father? 1,000 years. 6,000 years you will eat unleavened bread.. 6,000 years man will live in the flesh with affliction. And then shall come the seventh day. And the seventh day will come that thousand year millennium period whereby truth will reign supreme. Satan will be locked away. And it certai! nly is on that seventh, the solemn assembly when one comes to the full realization. You either love the Father or die soul. I'll say that one more time for the wise. The word is sufficient. One thousand years for a very solemn assembly and that one day where it will be said--you will love your Father or die soul.
