Load Runner 1. Difference between Performance, Load, Stress and Volume testing.

Performance Test - this tests your hardware and software environment to determine if it will cope with the anticipated number of users or load whilst delivering acceptable response times and throughput. It will also determine how busy the system will be under the anticipated load. Typically, a Performance Test will be performed prior to implementing a new or upgraded application to ensure that the infrastructure is sufficient. Load test - this will test your website or application with your current or predicted volumes and gradually increase the volumes to determine the maximum load that can be support whilst still delivering acceptable response times or throughput. This test helps identify the point where an upgrade will be required. Stress test - this tests your website or application to determine if it can still provide acceptable responses and throughput when volumes greater than those anticipated are experienced. This test aims to increase the load on your system to find any current or potential "breaking points". By loading the system with more than the expected workload you can get advance warning of potential hardware problems and can plan accordingly should live volumes be higher than expected, knowing what will need to be upgraded. Volume test - will test that your website or application will deliver acceptable performance when your databases are populated with large quantities of data. Performance can often deteriorate when databases have high volumes of data and this is often not detected during normal testing. 2. What are the different testing tools available for Load testing?

3.. What are the five components of LR and explain its functions? Load Generator 7. Virtual User Generator 8. Agent : The LoadRunner Agent enables the Controller and the load generator to

communicate with each other. When you run a scenario, the Controller instructs the Remote Agent Dispatcher (Process) to launch the LoadRunner agent. The agent receives instructions from the Controller to initialize, run, pause, and stop Vusers. At the same time, the agent also relays data on the status of the Vusers back to the Controller. 3. Remote Agent Dispatcher(Process) : The Remote Agent Dispatcher (Process) enables he Controller to start applications on the load generator machine. 4. Controller 5. Analysis Rendezvous 4. Define Vuser Script , Scenario. Vuse Script : The actions that a Vuser performs during the scenario are described in a Vuser script. The Vuser scripts include functions that measure and record the performance of the server during the scenario. Scenario: a scenario defines and controls the number of users to emulate, the actions that they perform, and the machines on which they run their emulations.
