TATA TELESERVICES LTD Tata Teleservices Limited spearheads the Tata Group's presence in the telecom sector. The Tata Group had revenues of around US $75 billion in financial year 2008-09, and includes over 90 companies, over 350,000 employees worldwide and more than 3.5 million shareholders. Incorporated in 1996, Tata Teleservices Limited is the pioneer of the CDMA 1x technology platform in India. It has embarked on a growth path since the acquisition of Hughes Tele.com (India) Ltd [renamed Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited] by the Tata Group in 2002. It launched mobile operations in January 2005 under the brand Tata Indicom and today enjoys a pan-India presence through existing operations in all of India's 22 telecom Circles. The company is also the market leader in the fixed wireless telephony market with its brand Walky. The company has recently introduced the brand Photon to provide a variety of options for wireless mobile broadband access. The company's network has been rated as the 'Least Congested' in India for last five consecutive quarters by the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India through independent surveys. Tata Teleservices Limited now also has a presence in the GSM space, through its joint venture with NTT DOCOMO of Japan, and offers differentiated products and services under the TATA DOCOMO brand name. TATA DOCOMO arises out of the Tata Group's strategic alliance with Japanese telecom major NTT DOCOMO in November 2008. TATA DOCOMO has received a pan-India license to operate GSM telecom services-and has also been allotted spectrum in 18 telecom Circles. The company has rolled out GSM services in 14 of India's 22 telecom Circles in a quick span of under six months. The company plans to launch pan-India operations by the end of FY 2009-10.

Page 9

TATA DOCOMO marks a significant milestone in the Indian telecom landscape, and has already redefined the very face of telecoms in India, being the first to pioneer the per-second tariff option-part of its 'Pay for What You Use' pricing paradigm. Tokyo-based NTT DOCOMO is one of the world's leading mobile operators-in the Japanese market, the company is the clear market leader, used by over 50 per cent of the country's mobile phone users. TATA Teleservices is launch docomo very different way like this.

Page 10

Today, Tata Teleservices Limited, along with Tata Teleservices (Maharashtra) Limited, serves over 64.29 million customers in more than 410,000 towns and villages across the country, with a bouquet of telephony services encompassing mobile services, wireless desktop phones, public booth telephony, wire line services and enterprise solutions. Tata Teleservices bouquet of telephony services includes Mobile services, Wireless Desktop Phones, Public Booth Telephony and Wire line services. Other services include value added services like voice portal, roaming, post-paid Internet services, 3-way conferencing, group calling, Wi-Fi Internet, , data cards, calling card services and enterprise services. Some of the other products launched by the company include prepaid wireless desktop phones, public phone booths, new mobile handsets and new voice & data services such as BREW games, Voice Portal, picture messaging, polyphonic ring tones, interactive applications like news, cricket, astrology, etc. Landlines Tata Teleservices have entered the market however; the primary focus of their business is on the mobile-phone sector. Due to the rapid growth of the cellular phone industry in India, landlines are facing stiff competition from cellular operators. This has forced landline service providers to become more efficient and improve their quality of service.

Page 11

Tata Teleservices is unique in its own way, Gleaming with glories of past and its success today. I am glad to be a part of its Foundation Day, And here are few things that I would like to say. The journey started with Indicom Bringing a revolutionary trend in Telecom. Making communication affordable to all was its aim, And in no time it scaled to new heights of fame. Then came Walky that was beyond anyones imagination, To set new dimensions in wireless communication, It aimed for the highest, And performed the best, amongst the rest. The Photon Plus left competitors with no other option, For it comes with the caption, I Carry Speed Clearly stating it has come to lead. DOCOMO, the brand with Indian Values and Japanese technology, A perfect synergy with unparalleled strategy. Came to break all old records and to create new, For it is known to DO THE NEW I dedicate this poem to each and every employee, Who contributed their best in this successful journey. Let us all march towards Vision 2011 with the same confidence, To take Tata Teleservices to new heights of excellence.

Branding Hotspots are a very important medium of communicating our brand to the end-customer. Roadside stalls have high visibility and could do with a little beautification. Tata Indicom used this innovative form of branding and selected a few food stalls in the mall area and other popular markets for this exercise. CONSUMER SATISFACTION
Tolani Institute of Management Studies, Adipur Page 31

The needs to satisfy customer for success in any commercial enterprise is very obvious. The income of all commercial enterprise is derived from the payments received for the products and services supplied to its customers. If there is no customer there is no income and there is no business. Then the core activity of any company is to attract and retain customers. It is therefore no surprise that Peter F Drucker the renowned management Guru, has said to satisfy the customers is the mission and purpose of every business. Satisfaction of customer is essential for retention of customers and for continuous sales of the products and services of the company to customers. This establishes the needs for and the importance of customer satisfaction. The satisfaction of consumers is different from one to another. Became, each consumer has the different behavior in their life. So, the marketer satisfies the consumer, he must very well know the behavior of consumer.

Customer retention Customer Retention is the activity that a selling organization undertakes in order to reduce customer defections. Successful customer retention starts with the first contact an organization has with a customer and continues throughout the entire lifetime of a relationship. A companys ability to attract and retain new customers, is not only related to its product or services, but strongly related to the way it services its existing customers and the reputation it creates within and across the marketplace.

SAMPLING DESIGN

Probability sampling Simple Random Sampling Size of sample Hear target population I have taken 1000 from who are using mobile phone, data card, walky.than I have taken sample size of 50.so I have selected in the 20 groups and selection procedure is randomly. N=1000 , n=50 1000/50 =20 Group of no. people =N/n,

Primary data
Data, which are collected for the first for the research are called primary data.

There is several method of collecting the primary data Observation method Interview method Questionnaire method Schedules

Tolani Institute of Management Studies, Adipur

Page 38

As this research is based on primary data the tool used for data collection is questionnaire. A structured questionnaire was used for the purpose of the research a copy of it is attached in annexure. A specialized questionnaire was designed, for the

consumers, keeping in mind the various aspects considered for the research. By the means of different questions, the questionnaire evaluated the response of the respondents on different aspects, which would be finally evaluated to know the level of satisfaction in respondent for using the services of the company. All that the respondents were required to do was to tick in the box that represented their views on that particular aspect. Once the responses were collected from the consumers their tick marks for each were potted into a sheet for easy analysis.

SUGGESTIONS
. Company should increase the quality of its services

and should undertake the promotion activity in a way by which they reach more closely to the consumers.

Tata indicom should launch attractive offers and

schemes particularly in land line segment in order to increase number of switchers and to compete with BSNL and Reliance.

Tata indicom already has a good infrastructure and

also has good network connectivity but then also it should increase its connectivity in village area, towns and state highways by installing mobile towers over there.

It should introduce some good and stylist handsets at

affordable rates.

Company should make efforts to increase the internet

speed.

Company should also make efforts to increase the

quality of after sales services.
