RAPE Rape is a forced unwanted sexual intercourse.

It is a type of sexual ass ault usually involving sexual intercourse which is initiated by one or more pers ons. Rape is a social vice that has wrecked so many lives, it has caused a lo t of havoc in our society. Many innocent people who fall victim to this vice get swallowed up in the after effect and find it difficult to get themselves back t ogether again. Some people commit this atrocity to satisfy their lustful desire, some t o inflict pain on the other, some to punish the victim, others due to addiction. There are so many kinds of rape. If we look into the bible, we find out that ra pe is age-long, it has been since time past. The story of Tamar and Amnon in the book of 2nd Samuel chapter 13 of the holy bible. Amnon raped Tamar. In about 8 out of 10 rape cases weapons were not used only force. The fo llowing are a few types of rape that has been experienced in the society. i. Acquaintance rape: like the name suggest the victim is violated by someb ody he/she knows. Someone might be wondering why I used he yes the male gender a re also not left out, they can also go a through the harrowing experience of rap e. Research has proven that they suffer the aftermath of rape more than their fe male counterparts. ii. Child sexual abuse: here, a child is abused by somebody he/she knows mos t times someone the child has been used to before then. iii. Dating& domestic violence: this often occurs among lovers or young peopl e involved in a dating relationship. Does somebody think that this is crazy? Yea h it is because when you claim to love someone you are not supposed to have the capacity to hurt such a person. iv. Drug facilitated sexual assault: In this case the victim is drugged befo re or during abuse. This case is usually worse because the victim is rendered in capacitated i.e. not in the right frame of mind. v. Hate crime: Here this violation has to do with the victims race, religion etc. Take for instance the northern wars an individual or group of people decid e to rape to inflict pain on the victim to show their bitterness and hatred towa rds the victim especially when they see the victim as an enemy this often happen s during racial wars and religious crisis. vi. Incest: This is a kind of rape or sexual intercourse that occurs among s iblings or relatives related by blood. vii. Sexual exploitations by helping professionals: This kind of rape is the type that happens when a young lady is stranded at a location and decides to spe nd the night in a police station and is raped by policemen or a young lady who c alls the hospital for help and the doctor who is sent over to help her rapes her . In may 26 2011, a group of officers allegedly raped a 29yrs old woman in New Y ork city who called for help. viii. Male sexual assault: In U.S 10% of victims of rape are male. Here either the male or female counterpart forces the victim into sexual intercourse. ix. Sexual harassment: an unwelcome touching or remarks about sex from someo ne, especially if you are especially expected to accept this to make progress in your job. x. Stranger rape: this occurs during home invasion for instances armed robb ers or even masked men break into someones house and rape all the young ladies of the house. xi. Partner rape: a rape that is done by more than one people e.g. gang rape xii. Stalking: This is the act of following someone over a period of time in order to force them to have sex or kill them. Rape effects are so enormous and can be devastating. Some people end up not bein g able to live a normal life again after their experience, some end up in the as ylum. EFFECTS ON GUYS . The guy begins to question his sexual identity . he develops a kind of phobia . even if they had an erection during the time of the rape it is not enjoyment m

ost people think some guys enjoy rape since they have erection lets not forget t hat the intercourse is against their will so they still suffer psychological tra uma. GENERAL EFFECTS OF RAPE POST TRAUMATIC STRESS DISORDER : This includes anxiety, stress, fear and so on. SUBSTANCE ABUSE: Victims most likely take to alcohol SELF HARM/SELF INJURY STOCKHOLM SYNDROME: Here victims bond emotionally with their abuser. FLASHBACKS DISSOCIATIVE IDENTITY DISORDER DEPRESSION PREGNANCY STI SLEEP DISORDERS BODY MEMORIES SUICIDE EATING DISORDERS For parents there are so many ways you can prevent your child from being abused First talk to them openly and directly about sexuality Teach children the names of their body parts express concerns about those parts. Teach them about the privates Let them know nobody should be touching or looking at their privates anyhow They should be encouraged to talk if someone is doing anything to them. Talk about the media Know those they are free with, that they talk to. For young ladies and young men: Avoid dangerous situations. Be aware of your surroundings. Knowing where you are and who is around you may h elp you find a way to get out of a bad situation Avoid isolated areas Walk with purpose, even if you dont know where you are going act like you do. Trust your instincts Try not to load yourself down with packages such that make you appear vulnerable Make sure your phone is with you Do not be alone with someone you dont trust Avoid putting music headphones in both ears while walking or sitting. Men can step in to offer assistance to someone they see in danger, patience and no being judgmental helps a great deal, recovering from rape isnt an easy task, i t takes the grace of God. Love shown towards the victims by family members and l oved ones to help victim recover. It also helps if the violator is bought to boo k, some victims recover fully when they are told that their violator as been app rehended. Victims are also advised to write down their feelings in a journal, they should also endeavor to talk to someone they trust. It also helps to remind them often that they are not alone there are so many others like them. Research as proven t hat about 200,000 ladies are raped per year in the U.S.A There is also a website that gives advice, encouragement and instructions to tho se who have been raped.
