a. Place : In the heart and mind of a village girl who has emigrated to the city./The village and the city. b. Time: Modern day. c. Circumstances : Conflict in the mind and heart of an artiste who has to decide between realities of the modern world and the demands of her artistic nature.

Point of View : The First Person. The persona is painfully nostalgic of the romance
she has had with the her flute player but the time has come for her to make a decision.

Synopsis:
The poem is about the conflicts in the heart and mind of a girl who has migrated to the city from the village. She left behind her lover, a passionate flute player, who is completely immersed in his own musical world, totally divorced from the modern world of the city she is in. She feels neglected while at the same time feeling guilty for intruding into his dream world of music while she faces the harsh realities of modern city life. Ultimately, she realizes their relationship has to end as there is no future for them together.

Themes:
1. Decision Choices can be heartbreaking. The persona realizes her lover is out of step with modern life, preferring that of music and the village. She feels lost and heart-broken but life has to go on for her in the city. 2. Sacrifice Life is often about sacrifices. She chose her path while he chose his. Love was sacrificed. Music for him and city life for her. 3. Circumstances dictate choices- So very often, we make choices we dont really like but the decision is sometimes beyond our control.
