BASI S: NFPA 30 1996 Edit ion, Flammable and Combust ible Liquids Code, and dat abase propert ies from The
Propert ies of Gases and Liquids, 3rd Edit ion", 'by Reid, Prausnit z and Sherwood, McGraw Hill, 1977.
NOTE: Always begin a new case by ret rieving t he original file. Direct ent ry of dat a in cells t hat
originally cont ain t able lookups could cause funct ions t o be lost , or incorrect calculat ions.
I format cells requiring ent ry colored RED; calculat ed values are black.
1. ) Ent er t he building or sit e area ident ificat ion at [ C3] .
2. ) Ent er t he area square foot age at [ C4] , t he equivalent rat e in sq met er is given at [ E4] .
3. ) To ent er t he fluid at [ B5] , use [ = ] , t hen go t o fluid t able, eg; [ = A59] is Et hanol or direct ly ent er t he
informat ion if it is not in t able (appropriat e cells t o allow t his are left "unprot ect ed").
4. ) The molecular weight will be aut omat ically looked up in t he t able, if t he fluid is available. I f not , ent er

5. ) The chemical formula will be aut omat ically looked up in t he t able, if t he fluid is available. I f not , ent er

6. ) The LEL (lower explosive limit ) will be aut omat ically looked up in t he t able, if t he fluid is available. I f
not , ent er t he value at [ E6] (t his cell is unprot ect ed).
7. ) The Ant oine coefficient s A, B, & C will be aut omat ically looked up in t he t able, if t he fluid is available. I f
not , direct ly ent er t he chemical's vapor pressure at [ G13] (t his cell is unprot ect ed). This vapor pressure
must be ent ered at it s value f or a t emperat ure of 20 deg. C. Do NOT save and overwrit e t he equat ion.
8. ) The wet bulb t emperat ure is calculat ed and given at [ G19] .
9. ) The chemical's vapor pressure at it s wet bulb t emperat ure is calculat ed and given at [ G25] (t his cell is
unprot ect ed). This vapor pressure can be manually ent ered if t he mat erial is not in t he t able, it must be
ent ered at it s wet bulb t emperat ure as calculat ed in cell [ G25] .
10. ) The 'rat e of evaporat ion' is calculat ed and given at [ G32] in CFM per square feet of exposed liquid area.
The equivalent rat e is reflect ed cubic met er at [ G34] .
11. ) The 'vent ilat ion rat e' is calculat ed and given at [ G39] in cubic feet of dilut ion air per square feet of exposed
liquid area. The equivalent rat e in cu met er/ hr per sq met er is given at [ G41] .
12. ) The 'vent ilat ion rat e' for t he area as ent ered at [ C4] is calculat ed and given at [ F44] in cubic feet per minut e
