Downloading the files needed to take the examination 1. Start up your computer and log on. 2. On the desktop create a new folder called ICT Work 3. Now open the school webpage. On the top right hand side is an icon for student email. Click this icon and log on to your email, log on using your school email address. * Remember it will be in the form of firstnamelastnameyearyoustartedschool@meathvec.ie 4. When you get into your email you should have an email from Mr.Smith. If it is not inbox it will be in your junk folder. Open the email and download the two word document attachments to the folder you have already setup (in stage 2) 5. Please turn the page over and start the examination.

Uploading the files for correction 1. Now you need to return to your email account and reply to Mr Smiths earlier email. When you open this message, click on reply. Then go to attachments and add the word document mergd31.doc you have just created. In the subject bar type MS Word Test and in the message field type Mr Smith, Find attached MS Word Test for correction. Regards, Your name 2. Then click send. Make sure to sign out of your account.

Your task is to prepare a letter of application for a job in an estate agency. In the test you are asked to modify the letter, to apply various formatting actions to it, and to carry out a Mail Merge operation so that the circular can be delivered to all the local estate agents. 1. Open the Word Processing application and open the file called wptest.doc from your ICT Work folder. [1 Mark] 2. Save the document to your ICT Work folder using the file name application.doc [1 Mark] 3. Create a new paragraph at the text beginning 'Having recently qualified.....'. [1 Mark] 4. Centre align the text 'Re: Application for Auctioneer'. [1 Mark] 5. Apply the font colour red to the text Re: Application for Auctioneer. [1 Mark] 6. Underline the text 'Re: Application for Auctioneer'. [1 Mark] 7. Change the font size fort the entire document to 12 point and save. [1 Mark] 8. Apply double line spacing to the entire letter. [1 Mark] 9. Zoom the document down to 100%. [1 Mark] 10.Insert the date underneath the address at the top of the document. [1 Mark] 11.Apply the style Comic Sans to the name at the end of the document. [1 Mark] 12.Delete the text 'Letter of Application' in the header of the document and the page numbers in the footer. [1 Mark] 13.Change the uppercase version of 'AUCTIONEER' to lower case. [1 Mark] 14.Use a spell-check program and make changes if necessary. (Proper names are not included in this spell-checking and may be ignored). [1 Mark] 15.Change the top and bottom margins in the documents to 3 cm and save the file as app.doc [1 Mark] 16.Mail Merge: Use the current version of app.doc as a form letter and save. [1 Mark] 17.Use the file clients.doc from your ICT Work folder as the data source to be merged with the agm.doc form letter. [1 Mark] 18.Replace the existing name and address lines with the merge fields. a) << First Name >> << Last Name > > b) << Address1 >> c) <<Address2 >> [1 Mark] 19.Merge the address list data source file with the letter to create the mail-merged document. 20.Print the first page of a document to pdf and save to your ICT Work. (Use the file name applic.pdf) Save and close all documents and the word processing application. [1 Mark] 21.Now turn this page over and return to Part B of the notes. Follow the instructions to upload your files to your email and return to your teacher so it can be correction and scored.
