Janine Stichter, PhD University of Missouri, Columbia, MO Setting Stage for Success: The many faces of preventative approaches
We know that the learning and behavioral challenges that students can bring to educational environments come in many forms, for many reasons. Yet what do we know about these students strengths and how to maximize those within the settings and tools we already have? The keynote will explore the many faces of preventative approaches and their use within PBIS. Dr. Stichter has conducted extensive research and activities concerning the study of social skills assessment and intervention for children and youth with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD), the correlation of specific environmental variables with increases in communication and pro-social behavior in children and youth with Emotional Behavioral Disorders (EBD) and ASD and antecedent Interventions for children with social and behavioral challenges. She serves on the editorial boards for several publications including the Journal of Positive Behavior Interventions, Journal of Behavior Education, Behavior Disorders, Teacher Education and Special Education, and Focus on Autism and Other Developmental Disabilities.
