GENERAL ASSEMBLY

(COA COUNCIL & JPIA) November 20, 2010 (Saturday) 8:30-11:30am The College of Accountancy Council together with the Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants had their General Assembly last November 20, 2010 in the morning. The said assembly was held at rooms LS 220,221, 222 & 223 for the 1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year & 4th year students respectively. The officers of the COA Council divided themselves into four year levels. In each room, two officers served as spokespersons, one to discuss the Financial Statements, one for minutes and one who held the attendance. The first to discuss their concerns was the COA Council followed by the JPIA. The objective of the assembly was to make the students aware of the responsibilities as an Accountancy students; events that had happened in the college for the 1 st and 2nd semester; the internal records; as well as to discuss their concerns or queries. The first agenda of the general assembly was to discuss the Constitution and By-Laws specially the membership fee. The breakdown of the membership fee was 20% for academics, 30% for non academics and the rest will be allotted for projects. Next was the presentation of monthly activities for the whole 1 st and 2nd semester. First on the list was the Campus tour for the freshmen students and Acquaintance Party for all the Accountancy students on the month of June. On July, different activities were participated by the representatives of the college for the Nutrition Month. They also had some try outs for basketball and preparations for the Opening of Intrams. For the month of August, the officers discussed about every activity that had happened in their COA week, followed by the seminars of the 4th year students for their Refresher on the month of October. Then the Council also discussed about the upcoming activities to be done by the council or participated by the Accountancy students. This includes the contests to be participated by selected accountancy students for the month of November such as Mr. and Ms. Rahei, literary, singing, and academic contests. On the month of December, the COA Council is planning to have a Christmas party at a resort, to be attended by their COA adviser and respected teachers. And for the month of January, 2011, the council will be conducting an outreach program to be held at Abra Elementary School, with the students as the beneficiaries. Next is the month of February, the month of Valentines and STAMPS day where the council is expected to have their Valentines presentation plus the gifts to their respected teachers and administrators. Lastly, they also mentioned the upcoming Send off Party and Alumni Homecoming on the later part of March. After presenting the monthly activities, the Council also discussed some concerns of the students and entertained their queries. Next was the presentation of different Financial Statements of the Council such as the Statement of activities; Statement of Cash Flows etc. for the covered period. Lastly, they also had an open forum to talk about certain problems of the students and the Council officers. This also helped to build harmonious social relations between them. After that the JPIA took over the position to discuss similar concerns.
