Explanation
This document outlines the installation pre-requisites for the StruM.I.S.NET System. It is intended for prospective customers to answer the following questions: a) What does my company need to run StruM.I.S.NET? b) Is my company ready to install StruM.I.S.NET? c) What else do I have to do to get my company ready to install StruM.I.S.NET?

Self-Certification
The fax-back form has been included in this document to allow prospective customers to self-certify that they are ready for a StruM.I.S.NET representative to visit their site and install the software. By completing and returning this form, you can ensure that you get the best value for money from a visiting StruM.I.S.NET representative. Any installation charges quoted are for installation to a pre-prepared network, to the specifications outlined in the following pages of this document.

Installation Pre-Requisites
Configuration
StruM.I.S.NET is a Multi-user Database application. The data for the system is stored on a central SERVER, and the StruM.I.S.NET application software is loaded and run on each accessing CLIENT (user) computer. Each CLIENT accesses the data stored centrally on the SERVER allowing a true multi-user environment.

Personal Computers

SERVER HARDWARE The minimum specification for a Server computer for the StruM.I.S.NET System is: PIII+ 1Ghz; 512Mb RAM; 4GB HDD; 15 Monitor The server must be able to connect to the web for registration purposes The recommended specification for a Server computer for the StruM.I.S.NET System is: PIV 2GHz; 1Gb RAM; 12GB HDD; 15 Monitor or better CLIENT HARDWARE The minimum specification for a Client computer for the StruM.I.S.NET System is: PIII+ 1Ghz+; 256Mb RAM; 2GB HDD; 17 Monitor The recommended specification for a Client computer for the StruM.I.S.NET System is: PIV 2GHz+; 1Gb RAM; 2GB HDD; 17 Monitor or better

Database Versions and Operating System (Server)

The StruM.I.S.NET System Server operating system is dependant upon the SQL Server Database version chosen by the client; see the table below for a guide:

Operating System (Client)

The StruM.I.S.NET System Clients must run on either of: Windows 2000 Workstation SP4 (or later). Windows XP SP1 (or later). Windows Vista

Note: Only 32bit operating systems are supported for both Server and Client Installations.

Networking Protocols
All Computers running StruM.I.S.NET must have the TCP/IP installed.

Printers
If any form of printed output is required from the StruM.I.S.NET System, a printer must be available, set up on the network, and accessible from any client PERSONAL COMPUTERS that has a requirement to produce printed output. It is also recommended that This PERSONAL COMPUTERS must also have Microsoft Excel installed. The printer to be used for printed output from the StruM.I.S.NET System must be set as the default printer through Windows. Notwithstanding this, most applications offer a choice of printers before printing. The printer must be a laser printer or an inkjet printer. StruM.I.S.NET printed output is not suitable for any type of impact or thermal printer. Printed output from the StruM.I.S.NET System occasionally uses colour. All reports print well on monochrome printers, however colour printers may produce a more aesthetically pleasing result. N.B. Please note that repeated printing of a single colour from some inkjet printers may result in the disproportional usage of ink leading to premature replacement of cartridges. If barcodes are to be printed from the StruM.I.S.NET system (available in the Production Control modules) then a high-quality laser printer must be available and accessible from the network. Barcodes printed on a low-quality laser or inkjet printer may not scan with all barcode-scanning units. In certain cases it will be necessary to utilise a specialist Barcode Printer (if applying labels to steel).

Screen Resolution
Some StruM.I.S.NET modules display large amounts of information on-screen at a time. This is by design, intended to help the customer to use the System with a reduced number of mouse-clicks, keystrokes and open forms. Because of this style, some modules must run at a fairly high screen resolution. Some other modules may run perfectly well at a lower resolution. Further, some modules may run at a lower resolution but offer significant benefits in terms of usability by running at a higher resolution. As a general rule we recommend running ALL StruM.I.S.NET Modules at 1024x768 resolution, preferably on at least a 17 monitor.

Electronic Data Interchange

If you are intending to use Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) for Exporting / Importing Purchase Order Quotations between Customer and Supplier, then MAPI compliant Microsoft Outlook 2003 (or later) is required.
