SSN INSTITUTIONS Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering (SSNCE) is the outcome of the vision and initiative of Dr.

Shiv Nadar, Chairman of HCL Technologies Ltd. and a pioneer in the field of Information Technology. The Institution reflects the ideals of its founder and seeks to achieve excellence as an advanced research centre in Information and Communication Technology domains. The Board of Management under the Chairmanship of Mr. R. Srinivasan, Mrs. Kala Vijayakumar, President, SSN Institutions and the Principal Dr. S. Salivahanan facilitate the good governance of the institution. The institution was established in 1996 on a sprawling campus of 250 acres on Rajiv Gandhi Salai known as Cyber Corridor of Chennai. The campus comprises aesthetically designed buildings that are networked by fiber optic cables and WiFi. The institution offers eight B.E/B.Tech Degree programmes in ECE, EEE, CSE, IT, BME, Chem. Engg, Mech. Engg and Civil Engg and seven M.E. degree programmes in Communication Systems, Applied Electronics, VLSI Design, Computer Science & Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer & Communication and Power Electronics & Drives in addition to MBA and MCA. The admission is done purely based on merit. The Institution is certified with ISO 9001:2008 and the UG and PG programmes have been accredited by NBA & NAAC. ECE DEPARTMENT The Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering offers M.E. in Communication Systems, Applied Electronics and VLSI Design in addition to BE in ECE. The Department is recognized as a Research Centre by Ann University, Chennai and offers PhD and MS (By Research). The prominent and leading employers including HCL, CTS, Wipro, Infosys, TCS, Polaris, iNautix, Satyam, Patni, Birla soft, Hexaware, L&T Infotech, Verizon, Caritor, etc., have made the placement record of the department excellent. The department is well-equipped with the state-of-art laboratories. The department has organized two STTPs sponsored by AICTE ISTE, six FDPs sponsored by Anna University, and many national level workshops. The department has organized three International Conferences and one National Conference.

OVERVIEW OFTHE PROGRAM Education in Engineering Colleges and Universities are severely lagging in meeting VLSI Industry specific needs. This creates a big gap between the Industry and the fresh engineering graduates. By conducting a Faculty Development Program, we intend to reduce this gap by training the academia on Design, Implementation and Testing of Complex Components of a VLSI System. This training will focus on VLSI Design Basics to Advanced VLSI Design Concepts. The participants will have an exposure to various Design Challenges and Research Opportunities in the field of VLSI. This training will be beneficial to faculty who are teaching courses for ME Applied Electronics and VLSI Design.
