DNS also has other important use such as email routing. This is my list of better, fast public dns servers and free dns server (as compare to your ISP / DSL / ADSL / cable DNS service providers dns servers). These dns servers are free to all. I was able to improve my browsing speed with following DNS servers. Use any one of the following provider.

Vipul @getexaminfo August 7, 2010 at 7:07 pm Is google DNS is really fast. but I am feeling them slower then my ISP DNS. Reply rz Krash December 22, 2010 at 4:49 am @vipul: Ive felt the same, but not all the time. I have no idea but I think traffic slows it down. Reply Anonymous January 10, 2011 at 10:55 pm They seem to have their ups and downs. I tend to get better service from the 4.2.2.x servers. Google DNS helped me a lot when my ISP DNS were down a whole evening ! Reply krish October 30, 2010 at 7:15 am do we have to choose primary AND secondary IP from the same DNS or can we mix and match two different primary (for example mixing google and dnsadvantage 8.8.8.8 and 156.154.70.1)??? or would this be slower???

thannksx Reply Sean November 24, 2010 at 5:15 pm You can use any of them you want, depending on your operating system you could even use all of them, but I would recommend against that. I would tend to use the ones my ISP gives me, and then maybe one of the others. Hope that helps :) Reply Rob November 2, 2010 at 8:36 am Like Rd post, when I too first found the google open dns, it seemed super fast. but not so much anymore. Thanks for posting Reply uday khanal July 18, 2011 at 12:56 pm hi, i am using ntc gprs in nepal bt its speed is to slow . . .how can it b fast using DNS . . . .will it be secure for mobile. . ? . . Plz email me. . . . Reply anonymous October 2, 2011 at 10:48 pm I have been working as a network security for the government for the last 17 years and so far, I still not feeling very comfortable with any form of bundle. For example, at home I have a router and then a firewall. Then antivirus on computers. If I get a DNS that is also a firewall and all that, then I will endup with redundant services that are translated into slowness because a packet must be canalized by one firewall after another. Todays Internet is faster than as it was 10-15 years ago, I remember that a single T1 (1.544Mb/s) was more than enough for a large business. Now, with 22MB/s on my home internet connection it is fast as the T1 was few years ago. Why it is that? All ISPs and search engines are now collecting information about traffic and that information is used later for marketing, law enforcement etc. Almost every TCP/IP port is blocked by ISPs to prevent people from having their own web site and mail server so the email and information can be controlled easier from the top and in order for that to happen, they have to employ several firewalls, many are hidden by IP Tunel and some others are advertised as a features DNS information is managed and collected too, this is how some web sites from other countries are just not available from US but the information was very useful to get sexual predators etc After all these years, the amount of spam, child pornography and internet fraud is bigger than 10 years ago so what was the goal? Obviously the goal is control and surveillance I am not worry about the FBI or CIA, they are good with protecting data and if the information were collected and manage just for them, the slowness would be minimum. I am worry about marketing and other things who keep data unprotected and available to spammers etc If you want to know where customers go so you can design a marketing strategy, the DNS is the best place for you a packet came from computer A to computer B. Now put that on a database and select everybody who is coming to computer B and it is located in the US. Computer B is the Washington Post then I can buy stocks on it and publish add in there I am not aware of any DNS or ISP who doesnt collect and manage data and connections but the one who do that on a very fast way is 4.2.2.1, 4.2.2.2

So, if the goal is speed, you will have a better luck with these two Reply Previous Comments Leave a Comment Name E-mail Website
