Designing a lighting scheme for a stretch of road is by no
means as simple as it may first appear.

There are guidelines that advise on the required brightness

levels, and widely available information on the energy effi-
ciency of different lighting types.

Given the huge public investment involved, one of the main

requirements for traffic lighting is the highest illuminance for the
least cost, so high efficacy, long-life sources are the standard.

For safety and security reasons, road lighting must also create
highly uniform lighting on the road surface, with minimum glare.

With all these requirements in mind GE Lighting manufactures a

comprehensive range of roadway lighting fixtures covering a
wattage range from 70W up to 400W and utilising 4 different
lamp types. The range provides lighting solutions for secondary
residential roads, through to highways and motorways.
EUROSTREET ET25 & ET40 FITTINGS
complete with lamp

The Eurostreet series is a range of road lighting fitting manufac-

tured from thermoplastic material. The fittings are available in two
sizes to run mercury lamps from 80 to 400W, high pressure sodi-
um lamps from 70 to 400W, metal halide lamps from 250 to 400W
and the latest ceramic metal halide lamps (CMH) from 150 to
400W. When used with flat glass lens the Eurostreet fittings provide
control of light spill to eliminate light pollution.

Key features
• Sealed to IP65
• Body: made from UV stabilised, reinforced thermoplastic material
providing excellent mechanical and chemical resistance.
• Electrical Unit: the control gear is mounted on an easily remov-
able isolating plate. Mains power is automatically disconnected
when the housing is opened.
• Optical Assembly consists of:
- Reflector: Made from high purity (99.85%) anodised
aluminium. Light distribution with minimal upward light
spill (cut-off)
- Lens: 4mm tempered glass. The ET25 is also available
with a UV stabilised polycarbonate lens
- Lampholder: Adjustable in various positions
• Relamping: quick, easy and safe
• Installation: mounting on 43-76mm posts. Adjustable tilt from -5°
to +15° in 5° movements
