After having modified the IP settings EPC NET can be switched by all PCs of the same network via the website http://IP address of EPC NET/ (e.g. http://192.168.0.2/).

2 SWITCHING VIA ETHERNET


Log in to the website http://IP address of EPC NET/ (e.g. http://192.168.0.2/). It might be necessary to enter a password (see 3). Now EPC NET can be switched.

1.2 IP SETTINGS 1.2.1 Allocation by DHCP server


If there is a DHCP server available in the network, an unused IP address will be allocated automatically each time EPC NET is restarted3. This option can be disabled (see 3) or modified by an appropriate configuration of the DHCP server.

Via the website http://IP address of EPC NET/ (e.g. http://192.168.1.221/) EPC NET can be switched.

1.2.2 Allocation via Windows software


Start EPC NET in boot mode (see 4.1) and open the program EPCnet_conf.exe2. The program will look automatically for connected devices and will display their IP settings. If the displayed IP address accords with the default setting (192.168.0.2), there is either no DHCP server available in the network or no unsused IP address could be allocated.

Besides there are the following options: Config The settings of EPC NET can be configured here (see 3). Batchmode Independently from the current switching state EPC NET can be switched on or switched off for a selectable delay (1-30 sec. or 1-30 min.) After the chosen delay EPC NET will be switched off or switched on again automatically.

1 OPENING INSTRUCTIONS
1.1 CONNECTION
Expert Power Control NET (EPC NET) must be connected to an electric circuit and the desired ethernet. For product version EPC NET IEC connect the device with enclosed IEC appliance connector as follows:

When EPC NET is connected to an electric circuit the LED at the front side shines red. When EPC NET is additionally connected to an existing ethernet, the green LED of the LAN jack shines. It is necessary that an IP address is allocated for EPC NET in order to switch it via ethernet. The IP address must belong to the desired subnetwork. The allocation can be accomplished automatically by a DHCP server (see 1.2.1) or manually. For a manual allocation under Windows we recommend the program EPCnet_conf.exe2 (see 1.2.2).

IP settings can be modified manually by using the program EPCnet_conf.exe.

Enter an unused IP address and the gateway of the desired subnetwork. Save the changes with Program Device/ SaveConfig. After having changed the network settings EPC NET must be restarted3 in normal mode (see 4.1.). After restart click on Search in order to display the modified IP settings.

Via Batchmode EPC NET can be switched off and switched on again automatically .

Logout Only one user can be logged in at the same time. After three minutes without activity there will be an automatical log-out. EPC NET can also be switched automatically at defined times with the help of the command line tool EPC_Control.pl2 and a taskplanner. More informations can be found on our website.

3 CONFIGURATION
Settings of EPC NET can be changed via the website http://IP address of EPC NET/ (e.g. http://192.168.0.2/). The modification of name and password will be applied immediately. To apply the modification of other settings EPC NET has to be restarted3. Label A name with a maximum of 15 characters can be allocated here. IP Settings IP Settings of EPC NET can be modified here. TCP/IP settings by DHCP Each time EPC NET is restarted3 it will be checked if a DHCP server is available in the network. In this case IP settings will be requested and saved. If there is no DHCP server in the network it is advisable to disable this option. After PowerUp switch The switching state of EPC NET after a restart3 can be defined here (on, off, last state). Password A password with a maximum of 15 characters can be allocated here if required. The user name for the password is admin.

4 PRODUCT FEATURES
4.1 OPERATING MODI
EPC NET can be started in two ways: Boot mode To start EPC NET in boot mode, the button at the back or front side must be pushed for at least two seconds when restarting3 EPC NET. While EPC NET is in boot mode the LED at the front side blinks red. By using the program EPCnet_conf.exe2 it is possible to disable the password, to update the firmware and to restore the default settings. In boot mode EPC NET is not switched. A change of the switching state is not possible. Normal mode After a restart EPC NET is automatically in normal mode . In normal mode EPC NET can be switched and configured.

4.4 DEFAULT SETTINGS


In order to restore the default settings EPC NET must be started in boot mode (see 4.1). Besides that the program EPCnet_conf.exe2 is needed. When opening the program all EPC NETs that are in the network will be listed on the left side of the program window. Select the one of which settings should be restored and click on Program Device/Format Eeprom. Please notice Default settings that all current Name: ExpPowerControl settings will be IP address: 192.168.0.2 deleted. When Netmask: 255.255.255.0 restarting3 Gateway: 192.168.0.0 EPC NET the enabled next time the DHCP: Password: disabled default settings After restart: switched off will be loaded. After having restored the default settings EPC NET must be put into operation again (see 1).

FAQs
Connection
EPC NET is connected but... ...the LED doesnt shine Please check the connection to the electric circuit. ...the green LED of the LAN jack doesnt shine Please check the network connection. ...I cant open the website Please assure that both EPC NET and your PC are in the same subnetwork. Where can I find the IP settings of my subnetwork? Open the Windows MSDOS command prompt (Start/Accessories/Comand Prompt and Start/ Programs/MSDOSPrompt respectively) and enter the command line ipconfig/all. How can I check if EPC NET is connected properly? Open the program EPCnet_conf.exe2 and click on Search. If EPC NET is connected properly it will be displayed in the left part of the program window.

4.5 LED
EPC NET is not connected to an electric circuit EPC NET is connected to an electric circuit and is switched off EPC NET is connected to an electric circuit and is switched on If the LED blinks red, EPC NET is in boot mode (see 4.1).

Switching
I cant log in at EPC NETs website If the message Access denied. Used by is displayed another user is logged in at the moment. Alternatively check the network connection (green LED at the LAN jack must shine) and assure that both EPC NET and your PC are in the same subnetwork. I forgot my password Restart EPC NET in boot mode and open the program EPCnet_conf.exe2. Disable the password protection and restart EPC NET in normal mode. The switching state doesnt change when pushing the button Restart EPC NET in normal mode.

4.2 CHANGING OF SWITCHING STATE


A device that is connected to EPC NET can be turned off and on again automatically by using the batchmode function (see 2). The current switching state of EPC NET can be changed by pushing the button at the back or front side for at least three seconds.

4.3 FIRMWARE UPDATE


In order to update the firmware both the program EPCnet_conf.exe2 and the latest firmware2 are needed. Start EPC NET in boot mode (see 4.1) and open the program EPCnet_conf.exe2. On the left side of the program window all EPC NETs that are in the network are listed. Select the one that should be updated and click on Program Device/ Firmware Update .
