1. Structure of the plant

The fire alarm system is developed as a modular system. The individual modules are connected by an internal bus and a common voltage supply (24V). All modules, with exception of the Main- and repeater Panels are intended for the mounting rail assembly. The Main- and repeater Panel are design for recess mounting into a Desk Panel. These single modules are built together in a metal switchgear cabinet. The system can be design alternatively for the wall mounting or for recessed mounting when using the Main panel as an external unit to fit directly into the Panel. Example recess mounting

Terminals JR1 and JR2

The relays are driven by the micro CONTROLLER over a level conversion. The level conversion is made by a fixed currant by means of one transistor each in basic circuit. The currant is determined by the emitter resistance. The relays are as contactors with 10A permanent current to lay 15A starting current (0,5s) and a rated voltage out of 220V and are programmable for fire alarm, fault alarm, voltage failure. The activation can be delayed in relation to the releasing event.

Output interfaces Terminals JOC1 and JOC 2

The output interfaces are design as a short circuit proof open collector outputs with maximum 1A. In the case of short-circuit the loop is switched off and restarted after approximately 3s. Additionally each output keeps an insert able parallel source current limited on 8mA for the examination of a 3k Ohm end of line resistor. Two outputs are assigned to the fire alarm. The outputs can as continuous or interval signal to be programmed. One output is used to connect a door magnet selectable by a fire loop.

Current limiting and short-circuit protection The micro CONTROLLERS switch the currant on over the transistor VX18/38/58. The base currant for the transistor V113/133/153 is determined over the resistance R127/147/167. During excess of the maximum currant (approx. 1,1A) the transistor catches V114/134/154 on currant to pull. The following transistor V125/135/155 strengthens the signal and the following transistor VX16/36/56 takes off a part of the basis currant from transistor V113/133/153 and output currant is limited.

Is no at a loop of attached fire detector activated the quiescent current over the attached 3k Ohm resistance is actively examined and in the event of an error to the control Panel announced. The individual loops are short-circuit-supervised. In the case of short-circuit the loop is switched off and restarted after approximately 3s. The maximum reporting loop currant of a loop amounts to 400mA. The sum of all reporting loop currant (after release of several loops) may not exceed 1,6A. The total value of current exceeded by 1,6A switches off the Microcontroller the loop with the largest currant.

The micro CONTROLLERS switch the currant on over the inverter. The base currant for the transistor V1X3 is determined over the resistance R1X5. During excess of the maximum currant (approx. 450mA) the transistor catches V1X2 on currant to pull. The following transistor V1X1 strengthens the signal and the following transistor V1X4 uses a part of the basis currant of transistor V1X3 off and output currant is limited. Earth fault protection The input current of an electrically isolating, unsettled DC/DC transducer is measured. The 5V GND connection is connected with the housing. The 5V connection is adjustable over FET switches on 24V GND and/or 24V input voltage. If a connected fire detecting loop has or another module in the equipment ground fault, a prospective currant of a circuit limited over 200 Ohm flows. Thus the input currant in the transducer changes; the micro CONTROLLER evaluates the currant measurement and announces the ground fault. Are both FET switches through-steered (erroneous switching) preventing a diode (D21) the short circuit.

Voltage supply The 24V input voltage is led across a polarity protection diode, a throttle and filter capacitors on an electrically isolating DC/DC transducer. The transducer supplies 5V for the micro CONTROLLER. The 24V GND connection is connected with the 5V-GND connection of the DC/DC transducer. The digital mass of the circuit lies thereby on 24v-gnd. The LEDs are supplied via pre-resistors and PWM voltage regulator with 24V. Display The display is controlled via 8-bits a data bus as well as over R-S, RW and E (Clock) by the micro CONTROLLER.

LEDs The LEDs are divided in two groups (alarm and normal). The groups are independent of each other in the brightness controllable. But two PWM voltage regulator made of RC element with following transistor switching are used. Two LEDs in the group "alarm" are in each case switched one behind the other. Because in the group "normal" also individual LEDs are headed for, it is necessary to operate also two LEDs parallel in order to achieve an even brightness over the dimming range.

Buttons The button lines are over pull-up resistances on digitally high. With pressed key the line is drawn on digitally 0.

Buzzer The Buzzer is switched over a driver transistor and over a haven line of the micro CONTROLLER. For an external Buzzer a 24V interface is intended.

4.0 Start-up of the ' FMS-3000 '

In the following one the start-up of the fire alarm system FMS-3000 is described. The FMS-3000 consists of 6 different modules, which are fastened on a DIN rail. Two modules (display and loop module) can be used several times in the plant. With these modules is to be paid attention to the correct selection of the node number.

4.1 Adjusting of the node numbers:

All loop modules FM01-E have an entrance to a turning switching on the right side of the housing. The node number is to be adjusted for the first module to 0. The second module receives the number 1 and third the 2. The repeater panel PT01-E can be likewise several times in the plant present. For the assignment of a node number a bridge must be put in the Sub D 15 socked. node number 8 node number 9 node number 10 main Panel no bridge repeater panel 1 bridge between pin 6 and pin 14 repeater panel 2 bridge between pin 7 and pin 15

Additional does have to be set to the last panel in each case in the RS485-Bus a terminal resistance (120 ohms). This resistance is activated by a bridge between the pin 12 and 4. In the case of only one display this bridge is to be also set! Once if several identical node numbers are present in a RS485 net, it comes to heavy communication disturbances. A trouble free operation of the plant is not possible any longer.

4.2 End of line resistors

All fire detecting loops must be having a 3k Ohm end of line resistor. All 24VDC-outputs must be having a 3k Ohm end of line resistor.

4.3 Use of the module/components:

For the setting up of a fire alarm system only the components approved from the classes (GL/LR) may be used (and directly something similar). Beside the approved 7 Ah batteries may be used also the 1,2 /1,3 Ah batteries (if case of application this permits).

4.4 Organization of the software-Versions:

It is to be paid attention which the different modules are installed only with identical software-Versions in a plant (documentation!). Thereby no plants with mixed SW conditions may be operated!

4.5 Test of the entire plant:

The functionality of the entire plant is examined before the distribution.

5.0 Software description of the FMS 3000

The software is a substantial component of the functionality of the fire alarm system. The basis of the developed software is the communication layer, which accomplishes and supervises data exchange between the modules. Constructing on the communication layer are Scheduler, interpreters and the control of the hardware on the decentralized modules. All modules are programmed according to the decentralized principle; this permit to settle it with a low communication rate on the bus (RS485) all important tasks directly in the module. According to their functionality the modules have e.g. short circuit detection and ground fault measurements, which are accomplished and evaluated directly on the module. The developed software is divided into following parts and files: Main/project files: mps_main.asm vdr_main.asm prtr_main.asm out_main.asm lcd_main.asm loop_m_main.asm loop_s_main.asm power pack (Main power suppy) VDR module Centronics/Printer module output module Main panel Loop module SPI Master Loop module SPI Slave

Starting the system (boot UP): During the boot UP of procedure the configured bus participants are looked for. If a bus participant announces itself on a request of the masters, a parameter set is conveyed to it, which serves for its configuration. Example: The loop card gets the information of the loops which can be activated with its configuration. The Main panel receives the current language attitudes. In order to prevent, which bus participants are not recognized, are to be configured in the external EEPROM the desired bus participants. If no communication can be developed to a bus participant, after approximately 4 seconds an appropriate error message is spent. Cyclic communication: The master polls to boots all Slave node after that cyclically (round ruby) on. The Slave answers with its status. To a request of the master the Slave may send data. It is only a message on the way. Each node reads its own sent message. Allocation of the modules to the node numbers: In used bus protocol a node number must be assigned to each module (node). All modules, those in the plant only once this occur nodet number already firmly stopped. 6.3 Configuration of the output relays

The output interpreter is part of a software for the control of the output module. The interpreter uses a data field in the external EEPROM of the power supply module. In this data field the activation information for the 8 Relay and 3 24V of outputs in coded form lies. The Parameters of this data field is made by the module of Outputs and the table contained in it.

Illustration: adjustment for relay 5 The Button "Save" stores the current adjustment of the table in the project file. The Button "Load" loads the current adjustment of the project file into the table. In order the further relay outputs to configure are the arrow keys with "Select Output" to be operated.

"EE Write" and "EE Read transfer the table information into the external EEPROM of the power pack module and/or pick the information out. Before a data communication to of/to EEPROM must be operated the Button Connect COM1 (and/or COM 2/3/4).
