The introduction As all know,the computer components consists of main memory and secondary memory.

The main memory is commonly known as RAM(Random Access Memory) and functioning to store data but only for temporary storage.Meanwhile,secondary memory is non volatile,which mean, type of memory that can hold data for long periods.Today,we will focus on the secondary type of memory which branched to the external hard disks,USB flash drive. For many years ago,the usage of floppy disk drives is popular to records data onto a small and flexible disk which can be removed from the drive.But then,in favor the superior device,USB flash drive is invented,the use of floppy disk has declined dramatically.Some of the reasons of people choose USB flash drive compare to floppy disk because they are inexpensive,reliable and small enough to be carried in our pocket and many more. The first pendrive is produced comercially at 2000,and at that time,the storage capacity only 8 MB.If be compare with common floppy disks,it is 5 times larger.Nowdays,the pendrives storage capacity have been upgrade rapidly.As September 2011,the 256 megabytes of storage capacity is available,and ,research have been carried out to produce 2 Terabytes pendrive. The rapid upgrade of storage capacity of pendrive is corresponding to its size and style of packaging.
The manufacturers differentiate their products by using elaborate housings and case.Its usually been influenced with the most favourite cartoon,foods,keychain and technology.Its being so important to make the so unique and preferable among the users as its also effected the selling of pendrive in market.

Pendrive,thumbdrive and USB flash drive is similar device of external disk drives.But for better understanding,the name of USB flash drive is more preferable.Each word of it have different meaning related to its function and devices.USB means that the device is plug into the the computers USB port and appear to the system as disk drive.Flash is derived from the usage of device use flash memory to store data.Lastly,the Drive,means computers read and write flash-drive
data using the same system commands as for a mechanical disk drive, with the storage appearing to the computer operating system and user interface as just another drive.
