Letter From The Editor

Welcome to November, folks! The holiday season is upon us and I am absolutely excited for that fact. This is hands down my favorite time of year! Anyway, we here at Dirty Truth Films are winding down the 4th season of a Date with Deante, and I am thrilled to say that I have learned an immeasurable amount of things during the course of this memorable season. Things were quite different this time around since we, for the first time ever stayed away from online broadcast and instead went to a pay-per-DVD format. I know a lot of the fans were disappointed, but I have a reward for you guys; the season finale will be broadcast online for free! Speaking of the season finale, brand new details emerge in this issue about it as well as a review of the current season. As far as The Dirty Truth Tour, we concluded the first leg of it with the show in Kent, OH and are currently on hiatus until the second leg starts back up in several weeks. Don't worry, we're coming back better than ever! In the meantime, please enjoy this month's issue of Saucy and be sure to have an awesome and grateful Thanksgiving! God bless. - Deante L. INTERVIEWING THE CREATOR

Deante Young candidly discusses Season 4 of his controversial series a Date with Deante
Deante Young began re-conceptualizing his controversial web series a Date with Deante just days after the series' 3rd season concluded in midNovember 2010. According to Young, he felt somewhat frustrated at what he believed to be the public's misinterpretation of what his show was about. I'm not the kind of person who gives in to the opinions of other people, says Young. But I also don't enjoy people misconstruing my message and my intentions. When I saw that happening with my show, I decided to make a subtle change. Young had begun receiving threats from various people who were supposedly angered at some of his brutally honest language on his series. The degree of controversy present in the show seemed to increase with each episode. It was after Young's short film Renegade aired as the series' 70th episode (as well as the 3rd season finale) that the partial revamp of the show began. The public felt that I was out to exploit people and attack them on the show, says Young. That was never the concept. It was always about presenting the dirty truth of real people's lives and mentalities to my viewers with a healthy dose of comedy. No one was ever forced to be on the show, but my critics ignored that as well as the fact that my guests were always consenting adults with a choice. Young set out to make Season 4 with a more sexually focused philosophy. He wanted to be less confrontational with his guests and emphasize their naughty side as opposed to their drug abusing side. A few of my friends and family felt like I was letting the critics and their threats scare me into taming the show down, says Young. That was never the case. I simply wanted to make adjustments that would more clearly illustrate what my true vision for the show is. Season 4 premiered on DVD on April 15, 2011. It served as episode 71 and was the first video in the show's history to have a running time of close to an hour. Since the start of our second season, a typical 'Deante' episode would last anywhere from 12 to 18 minutes on average, says Young. Every now and then, we'd get an episode that would max out around 30 minutes. I felt as though it made more sense to lengthen the videos to almost an hour because that works better on DVD. Kibblez and Titz, the first video of the new season was received with mixed reviews. Young was surprised. I was excited about the release of that first video because there were many highlight moments in it, says Young. But when the public saw the DVD trailer online, the only thing people were talking about was how awful the women looked in the clips. That is when I had one of those Oprah ah-hah moments. Young analyzed the videos in an attempt to understand the criticism. He realized several key things as he studied his own work relentlessly. CONTINUED ON NEXT PAGE

CONTINUED FROM PREVIOUS PAGE I know that one of our key mistakes was putting out the 'Hotties' film prior to the season as well as the Nicki Fierce commercial, says Young. They were great concepts, but we promised the audience sexier videos this season even though we continued to use not-so-sexy chicks. But, this is a live and learn business and those miscalculations won't happen again. Young had first considered the idea of doing bar/nightclub type events as far back as late 2009 to promote the series, but didn't get serious about it until this season. Me and a couple colleagues planned a location filming session back in May at a bar on the westside of Cleveland, says the star. So we rented a room at the hotel that was connected to the bar to bring chicks back and have great filming sessions. Long story short, it was a disaster...but we learned so much from our mistakes and got inspired to develop promo parties at public venues. The first event on what came to be known as The Dirty Truth Tour took place August 20th at a tiny bar in Mentor, OH called The Shamrock Inn. Young had promoted the event for several weeks prior. When it was over, the controversial entertainer was highly upset with the way it played out. I was given a huge lesson in event planning that night, says Young. So many common sense things went wrong that night and the heat of the moment frustrated me. But after a few days, I felt very lucky for the experience because I came out with an incredible amount of knowledge after the fact. While Young admits several mistakes in his planning and execution of the event, he is quick to point out that there were still a few highlight moments during the party that made it truly memorable. The next event on The Dirty Truth Tour was scheduled for September 24th at a bar in Downtown Kent, OH, a location square in the middle of the popular college town. Having our next event in a college town was a no-brainer, says Young. The location alone guaranteed a much better event and that is exactly what happened. Though the star admits that there were still problems in the development and execution of the Kent event, he feels as though he is on the right track. You always want to learn from mistakes which is how we evolve, says Young. This entire season has essentially been an accelerated college course and I have been a very attentive student. Watch what I do with what I've learned.

THE BARE ESSENTIALS: Hope was the star of the 'Deante' season premiere Kibblez and Titz with her shocking behavior. Tiffany took a spicy bubble bath in Double Wet Date and Megan showed off her juicy assets in the classic episode Loose and Loaded. Deante Young revealed some of the ups and downs of Season 4 but says her learned a lot from the experience.

A DIRTY TRUTH FILMS EXCLUSIVE

As the fourth season of a Date with Deante draws to a close, its controversial creator and star prepares yet another season ending short film to wow his audience

*****************
Ever since Deante Young wrote and produced a 30 minute short film to cliffhanger the second season of his then-web series a Date with Deante, the man has made the practice something of a tradition to conclude and sometimes premiere a season of the controversial show. He's at it again. Young's first film also served as the show's much hyped 50th episode. First broadcast on November 13, 2009, the movie was titled Deante Young's Thriller, an homage to his hero Michael Jackson who died in June of that year. Young subsequently named each episode of his show (the rest of that season) after various Jackson songs as a tribute to the fallen legend. When Young resumed the series for its third season nearly six months later, he opened it with another film that picked up where Thriller left off. That film, episode 51 debuted on Young's birthday in April. Entitled Relapse, it masterfully cast the star in the role of persecuted genius; a man who created a brilliant reality series that exposes the inner demons of common people, but gets heavily criticized for it. These themes carried over from Thriller and continued with the Season 3 finale, Renegade. That film, aired originally on November 14, 2010 featured a stunning conclusion and reflected more than any of Young's previous work the true nature of public vitriol he faces as a result of his edgy and exploitative series. Now, word comes down that Season 4 will be punctuated by a film entitled, a Date with Deante: The Last Laugh. That film, scheduled for a late November release reportedly tells another story full of psychological twists and turns. Dirty Truth Films has only said about the film that it illustrates what can happen when an unstable person gets rubbed the wrong way and Deante Young gets blamed for the unwise actions of others. It was also revealed that the film will be available free online upon release.

STEVE JOBS:
A TRUE ICON OF IMAGINATION
By DEANTE YOUNG

During the 20th century, the world was blessed with an endless stream of regular people who possessed extraordinary drive, imagination and talent. From Thomas Edison and Henry Ford in the engineering field to Sam Walton in the world of big business and Michael Jackson in show business, history has had its fair share of legends. Enter Steve Jobs. Jobs, the mercurial co-founder of Apple Inc. died last month at the much too young age of 56. Since then, his legacy has been celebrated and castigated but mostly, he has been immortalized as a groundbreaking visionary of epic importance to the tech world which he stamped with his gigantic contributions. When he teamed up with tech savvy Steve Wozniak in 1976 to create Apple, he couldn't possibly have known how far he and their company would revolutionize the world of personal computing. Within a couple years, Jobs was a multi-millionaire and a headache to work with. That fact led to his ouster from his own company just eight years after its inception. But as the world eventually found out, Jobs was just getting started. During the ensuing 12 years, the demanding yet highly passionate Jobs used his genius to re-define the world of motion picture animation with Pixar studios. By the end of the century, he had returned to a failing Apple Inc. and just like magic, he revitalized the company with an infusion of genius and ingenuity. In the first decade of the 21st century, Jobs authored one iconic electronic innovation after another; the iPod in 2001, the iPhone in 2007 and the iPad in 2010. Even though Jobs never undertook the actual design or tech side of these gadgets, it was his outside the box marketing instincts and concepts that dreamed up the devices, then placed them in the marketplace with a winning flair that made people all over the world feel obligated to own these beautifully designed products. I know Jobs was the polar opposite of perfect, compassionate or most times reasonable. But as a role model, an inspiration and a legendary creative force, he will always reign as a supreme giant whose indelible impact on this world will last forever.
