Connecting diagram.
Connection of our cameras is very simple, using the colored wires. The camera connector has seven wires as in the previous description. To connect everything properly, please use a soldering iron with a narrow tip (1mm diameter) and also fine-guage solder. Power supply : The VPC-465 B is connected to a DC STABILIZED power supply. The value of the voltage is 12 VDC +/- 5 %. The current consumption must allow for > 200 mA per camera, to have a reserve range of curent Video cable : The best coax. cable to work with PACIFIC cameras is the RG59B type. It should supply a video signal up to 100 meters without amplification. Monitor : Any kind of black & white monitors can be used for this application.

Using an external synchronisation signal.

With the VPC-405 GA, it is possible to synchronise the camera. This is an avantage with regard to other cameras on the market. To synchronise a camera, you need to use one camera as the master, or synchro generator. See the connection diagram below. This configuration requires the master camera video signal. In this case, the master camera shares its video signal. It is very important to adapt the impedance (Z) to get a good signal from the master camera to the monitor. Therefore, two resistors of 75 ohms each need to be connected, as shown below.

If the picture from the master camera is not good, then you must use it solely as the synchro generator. Normally, our cameras need to be synchronised when using a sequential switcher as this device usually does not synchronise the cameras on its main board.

Jumpers setting
1) Electronic shutter
Only two positions can be set, ON or OFF. With the VPC-465 B, it is not possible to set the shutter to a specific speed. As previously explained the shutter is set OFF when using an auto-iris lens, otherwise, leave the shutter in the ON position. When set to OFF, the shutter speed is fixed to 1/50 sec.

2) AGC (Automatic Gain Control)

If AGC is set to ON then the picture will be more susceptible to noise. But if light conditions are good, it is better to set AGC to off, as less noise will appears on picture. This is especially the case for industrial use.

Which lens ?
As a default, the VPC-465 B is shipped with a 3.6 mm lens. this is suitable for a large range of applications. The VPC-465 B has five other lens option. The viewing angle will be short with the 25.0 mm lens around +/- 20 degrees Use this lens for detailed observation of a subject at +/- 6 meters from the camera.

Camera applications.
The VPC-465 B is a widely used camera because of its range of applications and features. Among others, the camera can be synchronised by external source as described previously. For installation requiring more than one camera, the video signal from each camera is sent to a switcher or a digitiser or other video multiplexing systems.

IS IT NECESSARY TO SYNCHRONISE THE CAMERAS ?

This depends on the system to which the cameras are connected.

1) With a switcher.

TIME-LAPS

In this application, you must synchronise all the cameras according to the synchronisation diagram , since the switchers are only switching inputs without any analysing the image. To get a good picture after recorded sequences, these cameras must be synchronised. If the picture from the master camera is not good, then you must use it solely as the synchro generator.

2) With a digitiser (or multiplexer)

8 channels digitiser

TIME-LAPS

This situation does not require manual synchronisation of the cameras. The digitiser analyses the signal in a digital format. The synchronisation is done by the main board of the digitiser. Follow the instruction manual of the digitiser or the multiplexer carefully, as some of them do not synchronise cameras.
