Loadstar is a joint venture between the Jinasena Group and the Solideal group of Belgium.

Loadstar manufactures solid and pneumatic tires, wheels and tracks under the Solideal brand and has been awarded the Most Outstanding Exporter of Sri Lanka award by the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka (NCE) in 2007 and won the National Cleaner Production award in 2008, 2009 (NCC) Silver. Loadstar employs over 5,000 people across six plants. Loadstar is an ISO 9000 certified company since 1996, and is one of the first tire companies in Sri Lanka to be certified. Loadstar is committed to its customer by consistently delivering high quality products at competitive prices. ( Quality Policy ) Loadstar endeavors to continually improve all business processes and ensure conformity to the established quality systems. Loadstar accomplishes this through constantly upgrading of the skills of our employees. Presently the company consumes a significant percentage of the natural rubber production of Sri Lanka. Loadstar has continued to grow rapidly over the last 25 years and is continuing its journey with impementation of lean system and processes.

Loadstar is focused on the strengthening our business, sustaining communities and helping to improve lives. Loadstar's commitment to the communities is a vital part of our corporate initiative. It is the company's goal to promote healthy and strong links with the communities where we operate. Our continuing quest is to be a socially aware and responsive global citizen wherever we operate. As a corporate citizen, Loadstar participates in organizations that seek to provide opportunities for civic, economic and educational growth, social and physical health. Participation takes various forms and includes philanthropic initiatives, such as grants, sponsorships, in-kind donations, and volunteerism. Some of our initiatives include blood donation schemes, rebuilding of a village in Deniyaya after the floods, contribution to Ayurvedic advancement, rehabilitation of schools, tsunami aid etc.

Environmental Policy Statement Loadstar is committed to the conservation and preservation of our environment. We strongly feel that this is our duty and responsibility. Safety Health and Environment Policy ( Environment Policy ) LS will manage environmental, health and safety issues as integral and important parts of all our business activities, while working towards a sustainable society. Using tires with a longer lifespan through Life Cycle Assessment will help reduce the number of tires in landfills. Loadstars solid tires are designed to increase ride comfort when compared against other flat-resistant tires and they also meet the designated weight/ballast requirements for applicable reach industrial machineries, an important safety consideration for this type of machinery.

Environmental Management System

This framework allows SHE issues to be identified, managed and streamlined through all Loadstar Operations. It fosters a cycle of continuous improvement and ensures that SHE strategies and standards at LS are aligned with national and international standards and regulations. We recognize that SHE best practice is good business practice and we are working hard towards a goal of zero harm to people or the environment. Our strategic SHE objectives are to:

Achieve zero defects to minimize waste and reduce environmental emissions Maximize the utilization of energy resources to produce clean, safe and quality product assets Achieve zero lost time injury through safety strategies Attain a high level of preparedness to manage emergency incidents related to environmental & safety Become a leader in sustainable development

We are working to achieve these objectives through a variety of means, including Loadstar Production Systems (LPS) and processes, training and the development of a environmental oriented workforce. We are also striving towards certification to OHSAS 18001, an international health and safety management system. Our long-term goal is to ensure that all LS employees and the people of Sri Lanka live in a clean, safe world.

People
Health Access to basic health facilities is paramount for human development in countries such as ours. We believe the private sector must play its role in developing health facilities and have undertaken a series of programs to maintain wards at hospitals. We have also conducted annual blood donation program since 2003 targeting hospitals island wide this project has enabled us to donate over 800 pints of blood to society.

Basic Needs Irrigation is a primary need but one that many Sri Lankan have little access to. We have undertaken many projects island wide to develop irrigation especially in marginalized areas and have carried out more than15 projects to provide drinking water for schools, temples and communities. Among our major drinking water projects are those that supplied to Veddha at Kotabakina and Gurukumbura School at Mahiyanganaya. Social Development Projects We believe that the private sector as a significant role to play in supporting the state especially when the country faces tragedies wrought by nature. As a socially conscious company, Loadstar has over the years come to assistance of many communities left homeless and in despair by floods. We took on the responsibility of rebuilding the Deniyaya Village, following severe floods there in 2003. Our contribution included the construction of 45 fully furnished homes, as well as building community infrastructure such as community centres and playgrounds. We also helped 7 families around the Opatha area who were affected by the floods in 2005, When the devastating tsunami washed over the shores of Sri Lanka in 2004, Loadstar was one of the companies to respond immediately our employees were at ground zero in the immediate aftermath, clearing debris, providing basic necessities including shelter, food, medicines, sanitary facilities and assisting in the recovery effort. We committed ourselves immediately to the long term rebuilding of Sri Lanka.

We set up 7 refugee camps in Weligama and facilitated their management while also conducting medical camps in Tsunami affected regions. We have also extended our assistance to the Sahanaya Institute in Kaluthara which counsels and assists those who have been affected by the Tsunami. We have completed the construction of over 600 homes for families left destitute in the South of the country. All these homes have already been completed and handed over to families, giving them hope and enabling them to slowly begin the process of rebuilding their shattered lives.

Social consciousness is part of our DNA at Loadstar and we remain strongly committed to being an exemplary corporate citizen doing good business while sincerely doing good.

Loadstar has always been conscious about its responsibility towards society. Loadstar always attempts to ensure that the public is not inconvenienced by its operations. The company has obtained approvals of the regulatory authorities such as the Central Environmental Authority, the BOI, and the relevant local government authorities for its operations. Internal limits set by the company for parameters such as noise, dust and vibrations are more stringent than those set by the Central Environment Authority, BOI or the labour department.

Since 1984, the proven engineering and management skills of Jinasena Group of Companies and the technical know-how in tire design and global market reach of Solideal of Belgium have allowed Loadstar to grow to its leading position today. Loadstar started with its first factory in Ekala Ja-ela in 1984. Loadstar has continued to grow over the years and has today 6 factories located around the country employing over 5000 people.
