What are the reiki attunements

Just like you have to tune into a frequency to receive a radio or tv channel, reiki attunements
are a way of tuning into the channel of reiki energy.

It is believed that reiki energy is there all around us, but you can access this energy only after
you are attuned to receive it.

Reiki attunements allows you to become a reiki practitioner.

Attunement process involves opening up the chakras in you, so that you become a 'channel'
to receive and transmit reiki.

Reiki and Massage Therapy

I am sure that all of you have experieced the sense of relaxation, comfort and mobility of your
joints after having a good massage. Often we ourself massage an area of our body, that is
causing us discomfort.

So massage can be defined as "the treatment and practice of manipulation of the soft body
tissues with physical, functional, i.e. mechanical, medical/therapeutic, and in some cases
psychological purposes and goals." ref. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massage

Reiki and massage are two different healing modalities, both in intention and in practice.

The Three Doshas (three humors) in Human Body

Doshas are the manifestations of the elemental forces in human body. Ayurveda says that
there are three kinds of Doshas (Tridosha) - Vata, Pitta and Kapha, and the
imbalance(Vikruti) of these Doshas (or Dosas) is the root cause of most of our physical and
mental problems.

Dominance of a Dosha determines body type or "Prakriti" of an individual.

time.

Most of these new systems derive directly from original Usui reiki system with some additional
'attunements' and 'symbols' thrown in.

Yet, there are some other esoteric 'reiki' systems which are claimed by their founders as the
original reiki system and sometimes as even better than the original!

Presented below are some of these 'new reiki systems'.

Reiki Symbols

The Reiki symbols are the keys that open doors to a higher self.

When a reiki master/practitioner draws, thinks about or visualizes a symbol it will instantly
connect to the energy it represents.

The first reiki symbol is Cho Ku Rei

(Choku Rei is pronounced as "Cho-Koo-Ray") or power symbol. This symbol represents the
body. This symbol is used to amplify reiki energy.

Is there scientific evidence for reiki?

In order for any medicine or treatment method to be accepted into the mainstream health
care system, evidence is needed that the medicine/method is effective and safe.

Reiki, being medicine-less and non-ivasive (non-manipulative) can be regarded as safe, or at

least there is no known established case of negative effects of reiki, till now.

That leaves the question of effectiveness. Is reiki effective?

Let us look at findings of some research organizations –

BENEFITS OF REIKI
Reiki works on all the layers of our being - mental, spiritual and the physical. It is seen that
people get destressed after a reiki session.

• Reiki helps in reducing stress

• Strengthens the various endocrine glands in our body and strengthens the immune
system.
• Removes any blockages in body chakras, leading to total healing.
• Improves positive effects of traditional medicines, minimizing the side effects.
• Increases psychic awareness and helps develop intuitive abilities.

Reiki can be applied to every imaginable situation where improvement is needed.

What is Healing?

How do you define healing?

So many people interpret healing in physical terms only. When you get rid of a debilitating
physical condition, it is said that you are healed. Most people when talking about healing
refers to this physical healing only.

There is another healing - at the mental/spiritual level. For me healing is all about finding the
inner peace within me. When i am at peace with myself, when outside circumstances can not
create imbalance in my thought process - that is healing for me.

Reiki Third Degree Training

Reiki level three is the last of three Reiki levels(as per modern reiki training system).
This level is considered to be the master level. You become a Reiki master/teacher after
completing this level. Now you can initiate other people to Reiki energy - you create Reiki
channels.
Traditionally, it takes a minimum of 2 - 3 years of rigorous practice with Reiki II tools and
principles, after which one can be considered for Reiki master level. Many Reiki teachers allow
more than 3 to 5 years to pass before considering any of his/her students for mastership.

How To Learn Reiki

Unlike academic or professional courses there is no fixed curriculae for learning reiki. There
are three basic levels of training known as level I, level II and level III. There is no fixed time
limit to learn or complete these levels. Its more of a guru disciple tradition. The guru or
master decides if the disciple is capable enough of learning the reiki levels. It is another
matter that nowadays some teachers are completing all III levels of training within a few
weeks!

what is reiki

I believe there exists one supreme being - the absolute infinite - a dynamic force that governs
the world and universe. It is an unseen spiritual power that vibrates and all other powers fade
into insignificance beside it. So, therefore, it is absolute!...I shall call it "Reiki"... Being an
universal energy from the Great Divine Spirit, it belongs to all who seek and desire to learn
the art of healing. - Hawayo Takata
