This incredible articulated wearable suit of reproduction War Armour of Milanese design is made in Italy, the renown hub for armour manufacturing during the middle ages. The steel has been treated to create an antiqued finish that not only has a look of authenticity but is historical. Armour used in battle was often darkened so that it would not shine in light, as to keep a knight from becoming a glistening target for the enemy. It also afforded protection for the metal in wet battlefield conditions. This armour is is a true site to behold, as it stands about 6-1/2 foot in height on its hardwood base. These are Awesome! Two different styles, each hand-crafted with blackened heads. Each head is secured with hand wrought nails on a rectangular shaved blackened and seared wood handle. These halberds have rectangular poles for authenticity. (Rectangular handles afforded a better directional grip than round poles). Each style has a sharp blade to one side with a downward curved spike to the other, and a spear on top. Each measures over 6-1/2 feet high varying slightly due to each being individually made. Largest width across measuring 12 to13 inches wide. At the top of each halberd is a spear measuring over 1 foot long.

Walking down a small foot path thru the mountains in Bavaria we discovered a small workshop with dirt floors hardened from centuries of toil. Inside a lone Metalschmeide (metalsmith) produces and repairs medieval weaponry for castles in Germany with the same techniques passed from generation to generation for over 500 years. We were enthralled with all that we saw! Unfortunately we were only allowed to purchase a few pieces as this old-time family craftsman does not desire or have the time to produce items in quantity. Since we knew our customers would love to revel in the splendor of owning their own AuthenticsTM museum quality medieval weaponry, we had our skilled RittersteelTM craftsmen faithfully reproduce these functional ancient weapons of the Medieval Age and earlier with the same quality and many of the techniques that were used to produce the originals!

Own a true museum quality flail with styling based on the actual items found in digs under and around the castles of Europe. This hand-crafted masterpiece features a blackened steel ball with spikes over 2-1/2" long attached to a blackened chain which is linked inside a handwrought blackened steel bar. This bar is secured to a seared wood handle with handmade nails and has an overall extended length of over 4 feet! Awesome! 2605 $119

Hand-crafted with a blackened flared spear head this weapon will command respect against other spears. Wider flared blades were widely used by our Celtic ancestors for hunting as well as in battle. They were more effective in downing a charging wild boar as the blade created a wider, more lethal wound. It was equally as effective in battle, ripping holes in chainmail and armor. Each spearhead with side guard is secured with handwrought nails on a rectangular shaved blackened and seared wood handle (as mentioned in the polearms above). ...These fine sabers are faithful reproductions of those carried into battle during the American Civil War. If you ever wondered whats the difference between the swords carried by the Confederate (CAS) and Union (US) armies, wonder no longer! It can become quite confusing as most styles were copied and adapted from classical European sword styles. The North was fortunate in having two official US Arsenals, one being the J.T. Ames Manufacturing Co. of Chicopee Massachusetts which had been supplying swords to the government since 1832. Many government issue Union swords were carried in the hands of the South during the early years of the war! When supplies from the North ceased, the Confederate forces began relying on local manufacture and imports. Southern swordsmiths copied the Union designs, but with subtle changes. Many swords are undeniably of the same design and were used by the Confederate as well as Union armies. All our reproductions replicate the fine qualities of the sabers of this period and boast carbon steel blades that you can sharpen. Most have a solid brass handle and leather or wood wire wrapped grip as the originals.
