Exciting news from Blomeyers Elec-
trical in Victoria Road, Pietermaritzburg,
is that this family-owned business has
recently expanded on the back of in-
creased demand for hi-tech products.
Blomeyers purchased the adjacent
wellknown “Beds for Africa building”
at 238 Victoria Road and immediately
set about transforming it.
“We’ve consolidated the two build-
ings,” financial manager Kevin Blomeyer
explains, “and have altered part of it to
accommodate an audio and television
department displaying the latest in LCD
and plasma televisions as well as hi-fi
and surround systems by selected brands
such as Pioneer, Akai and Panasonic.
“The extra space has also enabled
popular companies such as AEG/
Electrolux, Bosch, Defy, and Whirlpool
to install built-in kitchens in far better
display areas of the latest in kitchen ap-
pliances.”
He confirms that people are taking
more and more interest in gas hobs, par-
ticularly with the electrical outages, and
consequently the store has added a range
of gas appliances that both look striking
and are extremely functional.

heads up the appliance repair workshop very
successfully.
In fact, he is regarded as one of the best
advisors in this field in the country.
Kevin Blomeyer takes the role of financial
manager, and he oversees the airconditioning
department with his sales assistant, Sonya
Goswell.
Inside the appliance showroom
Blomeyers’ showroom is managed by
Romilla Naidoo, who is also a member (share-
holder).
Her division offers highly-competitive
prices on all appliances, which range from
blenders and juice extractors to state-of-the-
art microwaves and TV sets.
With this vast range of products on offer,
she aims to equip the homes of young couples
with new products at very reasonable prices.
Appliance repairs and field service
An addition to its very busy workshop on
the premises, the business has a field staff that
services kitchen equipment, refrigeration and
electrical repairs in all the major guest houses
and hotels in the Midlands, and refrigeration
and airconditioning in hospitals such as
Grey’s, Edendale, Montobello and St. Anne’s.

Blomeyers is currently very busy install-
ing and maintaining airconditioners for do-
mestic and office blocks — mostly LG units
—as well as ducted airconditioning systems
for various retail and office blocks.
In this regard, the business is particularly
proud of its longstanding relationship with the
