The relative magnetic permeability after solution annealing and at room temperature shall be lower than or equal to 1.005 for elds of over 80 000 A/m (equivalent to 1000 Oe).

MANUFACTURING PROCESS

The manufacturer shall state the method of processing or rening of the steel which they intend to use to obtain the rate of inclusions specied under structural and inclusion properties. The sheet steel must be cold-rolled and annealed, The tube steel must be cold-rolled or drawn and annealed. The nishing of the sheets and tubes must be of type 2B according to EN 10088-2.

QUALITY CONTROL
GENERAL

Quality control shall be carried out in accordance with a quality plan established between the manufacturer and NIKHEF. NIKHEF (or its representative) reserves the right to intervene during the dierent stages of fabrication.

5.2

HOMOGENEITY

The homogeneity of the steel shall be ultrasonically inspected solely to detect continuity faults after the last hot working operation. The details of the ultrasonic inspection will be agreed upon between the manufacturer and NIKHEF as a function of the product.

5.3

CONDITIONS OF DELIVERY

Quality to be guarantied at delivery. Quality control has to be done to the standards in force. Test Chemical analysis Structural analysis (structure/inclusions) Ultrasonic Mechanical properties Dimensions Magnetic permeability Frequency Every melt Every ingot at head, centre and foot By sampling on the steel sheet and tubing Each steel sheet and tube Every ingot and by sampling on steel sheet and tubing Each thickness Every ingot and by sampling on steel sheet and tubing

5.4

MARKING
the designation of the steel and the reference of the standard or of the specication, the identication marks of the part or of the batch and of the heat, the Producers name or symbol, where applicable, the stamp of the acceptance agent or of the controller of the producing plant.

a) Unless agreed otherwise, the following marks are applied to each part:

For small-size parts, the above identication marks may be replaced by a single mark codied by the Producer and transferred on the acceptance documents. These markings are to be made on one side only. b) The markings shall be applied using a process which eliminates any risk of notching or chemical attack.

5.5

DOCUMENTS

The supplier shall attach the analysis certicates issued following the qualication controls given in Chapter 5.3 above to each consignment. All these certicates shall be drawn up in accordance with the prevailing standards.

PACKING

The packaging of the sheets and tubes shall be strong enough to preserve the surface condition and evenness during transport.
