We will examine if a doctor who is trying to obtain a patent to help alter or mutate an organism to grow human organs is a violation of the law, deviance or neither. We will also discuss if this is an abuse of technology.

Future Crime Scenario Have doctor's gone too far in the name of science? Some would say yes they have. We will examine if a doctor who is trying to obtain a patent to help alter or mutate an organism to grow human organs is a violation of law, deviance or neither. We will also discuss if this is an abuse of technology. f this type of technology is used can it go too far? How ethical is this practice? Does this type of science create victims? How will this technology be evaluated? Who will do the evaluating? How does religion play into this type of technology? These are the topics that are pertinent to the discussion. !atent for New TechnoIogy This will always be a touchy subject with people because opinions tend to differ greatly when it comes to whether or not man should genetically altering anything, let alone for use in human organ growth and transplant then involving the use of advance computers to create the new type of organism. That would certainly be a touchy subject. The main problem about this topic is that the doctor stated that if and when she is not granted a patent for this new technology, that she will continue her research regardless weather she has it or not. Having said this all and setting opinions aside this entire topic becomes a completely different subject if the doctor decides to continue research without a patent.

'ioIation, Deviant Act or Neither f the doctor decides to continue, her research without properly receiving the patent for her research the question then becomes, is the doctor's activity considered a violation of the law a deviant act or neither? The doctor's act should not be considered any different than that of any other persons act in the same situation. The doctor's activity should be considered both a violation of the law and a deviant act as well. A topic so serious such as this should be treated in a serious manner. f the doctor has all this technology to create such things and do such research and threatens to continue pretty much with or without permission (because that is the just of what she is implying) then there is no telling how far she is will to take it afterwards. Perhaps it is because the doctors believes strongly in what she is researching, that aside, a patent for research in America for something so serious such as creating a new type of organism for use in human organ growth is imperative! 'ioIation of the Law reating a new type of organism violates the law; the issues that it also raises contain the use of advanced technology in regard to computers which appears questionable (asti, 1997). Depending upon where the doctor attempts to go overseas the patent may not meet the requirements set forth by that particular country. Several countries may accept her application such as anada, Korea, or Europe. Europe has now taken another look at their application process for human organ growth. A ban on lu1u8L C8lML SCLnA8lC 4
research in that country indicates it is immoral. "t is also worth noting that the legality of the application will vary from country to country depending on the laws of the specific land (Nzomo, n.d.). f the doctor leaves the country she would then need to become familiar with the process used in applying for a new patent. n the United States the approval of a patent could take up to two years. The time differs when outside of the country. Stopping a !atent AppIication n the process of submitting a patent application it must meet the requirements set forth by a panel of examiners. The doctor has the responsibility of following through on any concerns that the examiners may note. She can make modifications to the application, or explain why she believes the patent is approval as initially submitted. Resubmission of the application depends upon how long the doctor wishes to continue making modifications. Granting a patent to a researcher or doctor only allows him or her rights to the technology. The doctor may not agree with the examiners review of the application, and therefore choose to abandon the idea. Abuse or TechnoIogy Technology is through computers, to help maintain any information that is needed. Scientist use computers for all most all of their information. There is a type of an application that the patents have to fill out to help create a new type of organism. This organism has to be acceptable through the law. All of this gives the government and researchers the ability of science. Technology continues to advance over the years. lu1u8L C8lML SCLnA8lC 3
The laws that are directed between human and technological relationships this is then neutral (Brenner, 2007). Technology is used to help with new things that arise. Screening the potential harmful products is where the new technology comes in. All testing has to go through the new technology to make sure this is working right. The thing that is big in technology is making sure no one else uses your information or get recognition for your work instead of their own. We plan to take any organ growth and transplants that are used in the human body to help maintain our technology in organisms. The objective is to understand the process of organisms. "The coordination of each module with other database components must be described including how different versions that will be kept compatible in the research (developing robust components for model organism database). DetaiIed reports The common set of tasks is: to collect and curate data from the scientific literature such as mutations, alleles, genetic and physical maps. This information results in a large scale of experiments such as microarray (National Genome Research institute, 2002). Does such research have any victims? A person that suffers from destructive or injurious action is a victim. Therefore, are you a victim? No you're not, as long as you were aware of all of the information you are not a victim because you were informed of all the documentation. However, if there was a medication that was given to you without instructions or lu1u8L C8lML SCLnA8lC 6
directions then you now become the victim of being harmed. Doctors always work on coming up with new technology to help cure people as well as other things. New TechnoIogies Being Screened t would be logical for those who are developing any form of new technology to be required to have their innovations screened for the safety of the developers and for the safety of those, they are developing their technologies for, as well as all of us. The people developing these new technologies have the capabilities and the know how to invent things for the good of us all and on the down side they also have the capabilities to invent things for the not so good. Though this may not happen often, it still would be a smart idea for there to be some form of policing in this department. Weather this screening be ongoing (which should be the preferred method of screening) or whether it be at the beginning, the middle, then at the end of their development. deally, the screening of new technology should be done during the entire process. Perhaps, someone unbiased can observe on a regular basis, come by unannounced with a survey asking questions, things of that nature. Most importantly, the main process of the screening of these new technologies is that the development must be put on hold until a patent is approved when it is involving something so complex like the human bodies and organ growth. Other Strategies One of the most essential means for permitting society to evaluate new technology before implementation may take place in the company's continual testing of lu1u8L C8lML SCLnA8lC 7
the product. Possibilities of displaying this product can vary from the media or to an nternet access website for the company. Advertisement of the technology can benefit the makers in the ability to market a sufficient product. The consumer could receive a survey requesting his or her opinion as to what he or she believes the product should offer. The strategic planning by the company in regard to any type of technology offered becomes information to everyone involved. The cost involved in the implementing of new technology may weigh heavy, and need restructuring prior to the implementation for society to review. When evaluating new technology one should follow outlines such as: making certain that the new technology enhances the use by society, that the availability of resources will appear quite important in respect to the results as needed, prepare a careful pre-implementing plan and possess options for outsourcing. The time given to society to evaluate the technology in the creating of a new type of organism will allow for doctors or researchers to believe that their findings we fulfill the research necessary. The research in this particular scenario tends to cause mixed opinions. reating genetically altered organism does not appeal to everyone. Even though some believe the purpose could enhance human organ growth, and transplants. Most people would like to see this process totally omitted.

ConcIusion n conclusion, the use of new technology to create modified or test living organisms will always be a hard topic to talk about in society. There are many reasons why it is a difficult topic in which some that are against it and other support these experiment to be done. The people that are against it usually are those related to a religion or belief and how they were raised or their culture. The people that support these experiments are usually those that had bad experience or some relative died. n this particular case the doctor applied for a patent on new technology involving computers to create organism that can alter the human organ growth and transplant in which if denied she will continue the research. The doctor activity should be considered a violation of the law or a deviant act if the patent is denied and she continue with her research. The reason why is because every experiment should be approved before continuing with the research for the safety of the people and its developers. This is why new technology should be required to have their innovations screened to avoid getting someone hurt or even causing dead within people. The consequences of these researches are that it always has victims in which there are cases that these people died. Finally actions can be done to stopped illegal activities against the law especially if the doctor goes overseas or different strategies that can be used to allow society time to evaluate new technology before it is implemented but at the end of the day these illegal activities will continue and in cases lu1u8L C8lML SCLnA8lC 9
there will not be enough time due to people for different reasons trying to change or alter how the world was created especially the human organisms.
