IPSF Medicine Awareness Co-ordinator position 2011-12 Co-ordinators and Subcommittees work under the IPSF Executive Committee and their work is more specific to certain activities. These positions require little travelling, but it is strongly recommended to attend the IPSF World Congress 2012 in Egypt and that you attend your sub-committee meeting if one is scheduled. You should be able to work on a daily basis throughout the year in your position and have regular internet access. Co-ordinator positions have different busy times or seasons, but you must be reachable throughout your entire term. IPSF is currently looking for applicants for the position of Medicine Awareness Coordinator.

Medicine Awareness Co-ordinator IPSF has seven Public Health co-ordinator positions to be filled each year one for each of the official Public Health areas of IPSF. These are: Anti-counterfeit Drugs, Healthy Living and Diabetes, HIV/AIDS Awareness, Tuberculosis, Tobacco Alert, Humanitarian, and the newly established position of Medicine Awareness Coordinator. The Public Health co-ordinators work under the direction of the Chairperson of Public Health to promote their determined area of Public Health and encourage and support IPSF members around the world to undertake successful Public Health campaigns. The period leading up to the dedicated Public Health day for each Public Health area is a particularly busy time for the co-ordinators. They will be required to help the Chairperson of Public Health to compile a special edition of the IPSF Newsletter to be sent to all Members, disseminate updated information on the Public Health topic and stimulate discussion between IPSF members within the IPSF e-groups. In addition to the specific Public Health day activities, the co-ordinators are expected to support IPSF Members year-round in organising Public Health campaigns and activities. The co-ordinators will also help the Chairperson of Public Health with organising the Public Health workshops to be run at the IPSF World Congress. In addition, IPSF also recruits other general sub-committee members to support the work of IPSF in the field of Public Health.

As the Medicine Awareness Coordinator, your duties will include:

Promote the campaign to all member organizations and try to motivate students to run various Medicine Awareness Campaigns Send messages to members on the specific day (e.g. World Health Day- 7 April 2011) to further promote the campaign Form a subcommittee of members to work and brainstorm ideas to promote the campaign Answer and support any discussion on the Public Health e-group related to this topic Give an annual report of the campaign prior to the congress and submit regular updates for IPSF publication Create an annual pre- and post- campaign newsletter (one month before and one month after the World Health Day) Encourage members to submit activity reports after the day celebration for a postcampaign newsletter Create campaign materials in collaboration with the Chairperson of Public Health and Chairperson of Publication (i.e. Campaign Kit, movie clips, PowerPoint presentation) Create, maintain and regularly update the Medicine Awareness Campaign database Run the Medicine Awareness Campaign workshop at the World Congress Prepare any necessary workshop proposals, presentation, etc. Assist in the recruitment of guest speakers or student leaders to help lead the workshop For further information please contact: publichealth@ipsf.org using subject heading Medicine Awareness Co-ordinator interest.
