synopsis The year is 1911 and the contents of the Opera de Paris are being auctioned. Eager to bid for valuable objects, some Parisians have met, including an elderly man inwheelchair, named Raoul, who remembers the glory days of Opera. While the auctioneer has the main chandelier and explain its contents with the legend of thePhantom of the Opera, there is a flash of light and the audience is taken 50 yearsback in history. First part The theater is in the midst of a rehearsal for the opera "Hannibal". Monsieur Lefebvre, the manager who is retiring, crosses the big stage with the new owners, Messieurs Firmin and Andr, and then a heavy curtain falls attempt on the life of Carlotta, the prima donna. It raises the warning cry, "It's the Phantom of the Opera". Offended, Carlotta refuses to sing.

Desperate to find a replacement, Meg Giry, the daughter of the ballet mistress (Madame Giry) suggests to replace the prima donna, her friend Christine DAEE, as it has been taking classes with a mysterious new teacher. In the first role of Christine, Raoul, then a young noble recognized as his childhood friend. Eager to take her to dinner after the show will reunite with her backstage, but Christine says she cannot because his teacher, "The Angel of Music" is very strict. Without taking as true the fears of Christine, Raoul leaves the dressing room to wait outside the theater. This brings up the Phantom and Christine is seduced into the dark depths of the theater. Upon entering the underground hideout of the ghost, he confesses his love and Christine is faced with a dim view of herself wearing a wedding dress. In shock, she faints and wakes up hours later. The Phantom is the

piano, composing. Christine approaches him stealthily, and can avoid their curiosity, rips the mask. Disappointed, the Phantom takes Christine back to the surface. Still wanting to be accepted by Christine, the Phantom sends notes to everyone involved in the opera by instructing that the young star in the new work, Il Muto.Managers refuse to obey the demands of the Ghost and Il Muto proceeds as planned. With starring Carlotta and Christine in a secondary role, a disaster hits the theater props chief, Joseph Buquet is killed and Carlotta still. In the confusion, Raoul and Christine escape to the roof of the theater. There, surrounded by the city of Paris, swear their love for each other, but are unaware that the Phantom has heard their vows of love. Furious at the betrayal of Christine, the Phantom causes the final disaster of the night, the mighty chandelier crashing down on the floor.

Second part It is the night of the masquerade in the grand staircase of the theater. No one has heard of the Phantom for the past six months. Christine and Raoul are engaged, butkeep it secret. Christine has been hiding her engagement ring hanging from a necklace. Phantom suddenly appears disguised as The Red Death and delivery managers the score of his opera, demanding that it opens Don Juan Triumphant. At first, managers refuse to produce this strange and disturbing work. Then, with the help of Raoul, design a plan to trap the ghost using Christine as bait. Plans are made for Don Juan Triumphant ... and for the trap. Overwhelmed by circumstances, Christine visits the

grave of his father to be alone, but finds the Phantom, inviting her to join him. Moments later, Raoul appears and rescues her. Finally, the night of the premiere of Don Juan Triumphant. The theater is surrounded by guards and police, eager to catch the Phantom. Near the end of the opera, the Phantom takes the place of Piangi secretly, the protagonist. He confronts Christine on stage during the show and runs with it, once again, to his hideout. In a final confrontation, the Phantom offers Christine two options: stay with him forever, or Raoul die. Christines decision leads to the story of THE PHANTOM OF THEOPERA to an end.
