Parish Secretary : A part-time permanent administrative vacancy has arisen for a Parish Secretary at St Oswalds, Ashton-in-Makerfield. This post will also provide an administrative service to the parishes of Our Ladys, Bryn and St Wilfrids, Ashton - in Makerfield. 15 hours per week, worked flexibly Monday to Friday each week. Salary 7.00 per hour. Closing Date : Monday 17th October 2011. Interview Date : Week commencing 24th October 2011. Please see Notice Board in the porch for further details. Cafod Harvest Fast Day : The Retiring Collection due to be taken last week in support of Cafod did not take place at the 9.30am Mass, and so will be taken this weekend instead. Order of Mass : Booklets with the new Order of Mass, including the Eucharistic Prayers, are available from the CTS display, priced 1.95. Money can be placed in the CTS box at the back of church. Order of Deacons : The Archbishop will speak on the Vocation of the Permanent Deacon at Bishop Eton, Liverpool, L16 8NQ on Friday 21st October from 7.30pm. The meeting is open to all but should be of special interest to anyone thinking about serving as a Deacon. Further information on 0151 522 1042. Heathcare Workers Mass :The annual Mass for Catholics in Healthcare will take place at 3pm on Sunday 30th October at the Cathedral. Carmel College Open Evenings : Carmel College invites pupils in Year 11 to an Open Evening on : Thursday 10th November; Tuesday 15th November; Wednesday 23rd November between 6.30 - 8.30pm. There is an opportunity to look round facilities, speak to tutors and receive careers advice. All are welcome. World Mission Sunday is next Sunday (23rd October). In his message for this day, Pope Benedict reminds us of the Lords words to his disciples: As the Father sent me, so am I sending you. He says: The Church is missionary by her very nature, since it is from the mission of the Son and Holy Spirit that she draws her origin. This is the Churchs deepest identity ... She exists to evangelise. A retiring collection to support the work of the Pontifical Missionary Societies will be taken.
