TECHNICAL SUPPORT PRODUCT WORKFLOW

'RZQORDGLQJ8SORDGLQJ6'5VXVLQJ/DQG 'HYHORSPHQW'HVNWRS
Prerequisites:
Must be in the survey main palette to access the data collection link Job may have been created in Numeric 4 or Alpha 14 format in the SDR33/31 Use the Test Wizard to check the communication link between collector and computer. 9600 baud rate, 8 data bits, no parity and 1 stop bit seem to work well. Flow control should be set to <Hardware> controlled. Data Collection Link 7.09 is recommended. This version is tested and proven by Sokkia Technical Support. From <Communications> and <Options> on the SDR33/31, you must have EITHER the Current View OR the POS view set to yes only. (Current View = raw obs data and POS view = coordinate data).

Downloading
1. Create a drawing file (.dwg) and a project from within LDD. 2. Select <Data Collection / Input> from the pull down menu. 3. Select <Data Collection Link> from the menu choice. A new screen should pull up and the DC Link software should now be running. 4. Click <Transfer> and then <Send/Receive>. Select the <Receive> tab. 5. On the top where it asks what data collector or total station to use, select SDR33/31. 6. Toward the bottom of this box, you will be asked to provide a filename. You may type any meaningful name here. For our example, we should use TEST. 7. Hit the <Receive> button. From the SDR33/31, you must select <Send>, and then select your job and hit <OK>. You should see that records are being transferred across. 8. Now, you must convert the file format from SDR to a Fieldbook file (.fbk). You must select the top line to read SDR Numeric4 (default in SDRs). The Input must be set to RAW (see below).

9. After the conversion is complete, then you must <close> the box and then select <File> and <Exit> from the Data Collection Link software. 10. Now you should have the LDD/Autocad drawing screen appearing again. You must select the <Data Collection/Input> and then <Import Field Book>. Select your test.fbk file (from diagram) and then <Open>. 11. When the file is importing, you will be asked three questions. If it is a blank project with no existing points, then you must select YES Y to all three. After this, then the points are added to the database. 12. At this point, you will need to select <Points> and <Insert Points to Drawing> depending on the View you had in the SDR33/31. If you It will load the points into the drawing, and you may need to type Z <enter> and E <enter> from the command line to zoom to the extents of your project area.

UPLOADING
1. To upload coordinates from your database into a SDR33/31, you must first export the points into an AutoCad Uploadable File (.auf). You may do this by selecting <Points> and then <Import/Export Points> and then <Export>. Then, you will be presented with the dialog box below:

2. Go ahead and type in a filename for what you want the .auf file to be named and then hit <OK>. The file will be created. (Note: An .auf file is nothing more than a pt,n,e,z,cd formatted file.) 3. Now, we must select the newly created .auf file and send it to the SDR33/31. (See figure on page 3)

4. As you can see, you must set the field on the top for SDR33/31 data collector. The field that asks, What file do you want to send, must be set with the .auf file that you just created earlier (from your point database.) In addition, we need to set the File Type box for either Autodesk upload as Num 4 or Alpha 14. A Numeric4 will give you point ID ranges from 0000-9999. An Alpha14 format point ID may have up to 14 alphanumeric characters. You may also wish for the job to be renamed upon transfer. Here, I want the job to be named KCJOB when it appears in the SDR33/31. You set this option in the box that reads, Rename file on Data Collector. 5. If you have not done so already, now would be a good time to double check that you have the same communication parameters in the software as well as on the SDR. Click on <Setup> in the Transfer module and you should probably go with the 9600, no parity, 8 data bits and 1 stop bit. On the SDR33/31, you should select <Communications> and then <COM> to match these settings. 6. If all of your parameters look good, then it is time to first press <RECV> on the SDR33/31 and secondly, press <SEND> on your PC. You should now see records transferring into the SDR unit. When complete hit the <OK> key on the SDR and the job should be listed.
