STLE - CLS, OMA & CMFS EXAMS & SAIT CLS STUDY COURSE
The South African Institute of Tribology will host the Certified Lubrication Specialist (CLS), the Oil Monitoring Analyst (OMA) and the Certified Metalworking Fluids Specialist (CMFS) examinations of the Society for Tribologists & Lubrication Engineers (STLE) on Friday 18 November 2011. The venue is Science Park and the time from 09:00 to 12:00. The exam is open to SAIT members in good standing. The recommended reading material can be found on the STLE website at www.stle.org. Go to Certification, then Certified Lubrication Specialist, Oil Monitoring Analyst or Certified Metalworking Fluids Specialist and view the Exam Information, the Exam Form and the Suggested Reading Material. The most important book is the AIST The Lubrication Engineers Manual, now the Fourth Edition. The SAIT has a limited number of these publications in stock, with a price of R2 96400 including VAT. (We still have a couple of the Third Edition at R2 850-00.) It is also highly recommended that you first attend the SAIT five day Lubrication Engineering course, and a distinction of 75% is a good indication of success. The SAIT will present the two day SAIT CLS Study Course (16 & 17 November 2011) immediately before the exam to help prepare for it. Attendance is strongly advised, especially bearing in mind the imperial measurements that are used and the focus on steel industry lubrication. The course will be facilitated by a current CLS holder, and study modules can be made available before the course dates, if needed. The STLE exam standard is high and the pass mark is 70%. Global pass rates are around 50%. Registration for the SAIT CLS Study Course closes on 30 September 2011. If you require further information as to the content, level, format and question type of the CLS and the OMA exams, please contact Patrick Swan on +27 21 762-2690 or David Beard +27 82 850-3205. For information on the CMFS exams, and the requirements which have to be met for this exam, please refer to the STLE website www.stle.org. For general information and bookings please contact Gill or Isabel on +27 11 802-5145/6/7/8. The cost for exam candidates for the first time is R3 648 per person, and for a re-write R1 881. The cost of the SAIT CLS Study Course is R3 445. All fees include 14% VAT, and payment should be made to the SA Institute of Tribology on receipt of invoice. Registration for the STLE exams should be done directly on the STLE website, but please also complete the form below and fax to 011 804-4972. The closing date for exams is 30 September 2011. Please note that the STLE have advised that the minimum number of candidates is six. If below that number the exam will be postponed until we have enough entrants. ============================================================================
