Lesson Presentation
Introduction/Motivational Activities/Anticipatory Set:

The teacher will review the previous unit through oral questioning. Upon review, the teacher will explain the students project by doing the following: 1. Showing a tutorial on how to enhance a power point presentation (i.e. voice recordings, animated photos, enhanced fonts, videos, etc.) 2. Provide an example of an enhanced power point that has already been created

Detailed Teaching Sequence: (Provide sufficient detail that would enable a substitute to effectively present this lesson. Bulleted statements are preferred)

Introduce the project Show the tutorial and example Distribute the rubric and allow time for the students to review their individual rubrics (these will be differentiated based on ability levels) Instruct the students to raise their hands if they have questions about anything on the rubric; the teacher will answer questions individually rather than as a whole group

Let the students know that graphic organizers are available to help manage the project as well as provide them with useful websites Provide each student with access to a computer and allow them time to work (this may mean taking them to a computer lab) Walk around the room while they are working; answer any questions and keep students on task

At the end of each class period, show the students how to save their power point presentations. Continue to encourage the students to stay on the time line. When project is complete, instruct the students to print out their presentations using the handout format. This will get turned in. Students will be given the option to present, unless they were required to use voice recordings and/or animated photos. (For those students that are required to present, they will be given the option to present to the class or to just the classroom teacher)

Guided Practice/Independent Practice/Assessment Activities

Guided practice will be provided when the teacher guides the review prior to students working independently and through continuous monitoring. The students will have time to independently review the content by using Microsoft Power Point and demonstrate their understanding of the material through the creation of their power point.
Closure:

When all students have completed their power point presentations, they will be given the option to present. This will serve as another form of review of the unit.
