New building with excellent infrastructure and facilities (lecture halls, laboratories, tutorial rooms, conference rooms, museums, library, etc) Updated research facilities with the latest technology and equipment Fact File The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences was formed on 1st August 1996 following the re-structuring of the Department of Biomedical Sciences from the Faculty of Veterinary and Health Sciences, the Department of Nutrition and Community Health from the Faculty of Human Ecology, and a new department, the Department of Medical Sciences. During its inception, the faculty was known as the Faculty of Biomedicine and Health Sciences. In September 1997, the name was officially changed to the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences. The Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences has moved to a new complex adjacent to Hospital Serdang which has been modeled as a teaching hospital for UPM students. Currently, there are 1527 full time students (undergraduate: 1247, graduate: 280). The faculty complex has many facilities which include four blocks of students hostel (which accommodates 2000 students), students centre, food court, surau and two houses for the Heads of hostel administration. In addition, there are three blocks which house the administration section, lecture halls, seminar rooms, tutorial rooms and laboratories. Expected intake 2009/2010 : 130 students
