To Enchant / To Bewitch - ‫ﺳﺤﺮ‬

‫ﺮ‬ ‫ﺴِﺤ‬
ّ ‫ﺱ ﺍﻟ‬
 ‫ﺎ‬‫ﻮﻥﹶ ﺍﻟﻨ‬‫ّﻤ‬‫ﻠ‬‫ﻌ‬‫ﻳ‬

‫ﺒﹺﲔ‬‫ ﻣ‬‫ﺮ‬‫ﺤ‬‫ﺬﹶﺍ ﺇﹺﻻﱠ ﺳ‬‫ ﹺﺇﻥﹾ ﻫ‬‫ﻢ‬‫ﻬ‬‫ﻣﻨ‬ ‫ﻭﺍﹾ‬‫ ﹶﻛ ﹶﻔﺮ‬‫ﻳﻦ‬‫ﻓﹶﻘﹶﺎﻝﹶ ﺍﻟﱠﺬ‬

5:110
and the disbelievers among them said: This is
nothing but evident magic. "

‫ﺎ‬‫ﺍ ﺇﹺﻥ ﻛﹸﻨ‬‫ﺮ‬‫ﺎ ﻟﹶﺄﹶﺟ‬‫ﻥﹶ ﻗﹶﺎﻟﹾﻮﺍﹾ ﹺﺇﻥﱠ ﹶﻟﻨ‬‫ﻮ‬‫ﻋ‬‫ﻓﺮ‬ ‫ﺓﹸ‬‫ﺤﺮ‬

‫ﺴ‬  ‫ﺎﺀَ ﺍﻟ‬‫ﺟ‬‫ﻭ‬ And so the sorcerers came to Firaun (Pharaoh).

7:113
They said: "Indeed there will be a (good) reward
‫ﲔ‬
 ‫ﻟﺒﹺ‬‫ﺎ‬‫ ﺍﻟﹾﻐ‬‫ﻦ‬‫ﺤ‬‫ﻧ‬ for us if we are the victors."

‫ﻦ‬‫ﺤ‬‫ﺎ ﻧ‬‫ﺎ ﻓﹶﻤ‬‫ﺎ ﹺﺑﻬ‬‫ﺮﻧ‬ ‫ﺤ‬

 ‫ﺴ‬‫ّﻟﺘ‬ ‫ﺔ‬‫ﻦ ﺁﻳ‬‫ﻪ ﻣ‬ ‫ﺎ ﺑﹺ‬‫ﺗﻨ‬‫ﺄﹾ‬‫ﺎ ﺗ‬‫ﻤ‬‫ﻬ‬‫ﻗﹶﺎﻟﹸﻮﺍﹾ ﻣ‬‫ﻭ‬ They said (to Moosa): "Whatever Ayat you may

bring to us, to work there with your sorcery on
‫ﻣﻨﹺﲔ‬ ‫ﺆ‬‫ ﺑﹺﻤ‬‫ﻟﹶﻚ‬ us, we shall never believe in you."

‫ﻰ‬‫ﻮﺳ‬‫ﺎ ﻣ‬‫ﻙ ﻳ‬ ‫ ﹺﺮ‬‫ﺴﺤ‬

ِ ‫ﺎ ﺑﹺ‬‫ﺿﻨ‬
 ‫ ﹶﺃﺭ‬‫ﻣﻦ‬ ‫ﺎ‬‫ﺟﻨ‬
 ‫ﺮﹺ‬‫ﺨ‬‫ﺘ‬‫ﺎ ﻟ‬‫ﺘﻨ‬‫ﻗﹶﺎﻝﹶ ﺃﹶﺟﹺﺌﹾ‬

20:57
He (Pharaoh) said: "Have you come to drive us
out of our land with your magic, O Moosa?

‫ّﻦ‬‫ﺎﻛﹸﻢ ﻣ‬‫ﺮﹺﺟ‬‫ﺨ‬‫ﻥ ﺃﹶﻥ ﻳ‬ ‫ﺍ‬‫ﺮﹺﻳﺪ‬‫ ﻳ‬‫ﺍﻥ‬‫ﺣﺮ‬  ‫ﺎ‬‫ ﻟﹶﺴ‬‫ﺬﹶﺍﻥ‬‫ﻗﹶﺎﻟﹸﻮﺍ ﺇﹺﻥﹾ ﻫ‬ They said: "Verily! These are two magicians.

20:63
Their object is to drive you out from your land

‫ﺜﹾﻠﹶﻰ‬‫ ﺍﻟﹾﻤ‬‫ﻜﹸﻢ‬‫ﺎ ﹺﺑ ﹶﻄﺮﹺﻳ ﹶﻘﺘ‬‫ﻫﺒ‬ ‫ﺬﹾ‬‫ﻭﻳ‬ ‫ﺎ‬‫ﻤ‬‫ﺮﹺﻫ‬‫ﺴﺤ‬ ِ ‫ﻜﹸﻢ ﺑﹺ‬‫ﺿ‬‫ﺃﹶﺭ‬ with magic, and overcome your chiefs and
nobles.

‫ﺬﹶﺍ‬‫ ﻫ‬‫ﺮ‬‫ﺤ‬‫ ﺃﹶﺳ‬‫ﺎﺀَﻛﹸﻢ‬‫ﺎ ﺟ‬‫ﺤﻖﹺّ ﻟﹶﻤ‬

 ‫ﻟﻠﹾ‬ ‫ﺗﻘﹸﻮﻟﹸﻮﻥﹶ‬‫ﻰ ﹶﺃ‬‫ﻮﺳ‬‫ﻗﹶﺎﻝﹶ ﻣ‬ Moosa (Moses) said: "Say you (this) about the

truth when it has come to you? Is this magic?
‫ﻭ ﹶﻥ‬‫ﺮ‬‫ﺎﺣ‬‫ ﺍﻟﺴ‬‫ﺢ‬‫ﻔﹾﻠ‬‫ﻻﹶ ﻳ‬‫ﻭ‬ But the magicians will never be successful."

‫ﻡ‬‫ ﻗﹶﻮ‬‫ﻦ‬‫ﺤ‬‫ﻞﹾ ﻧ‬‫ﺎ ﺑ‬‫ﻧ‬‫ﺎﺭ‬‫ﺼ‬‫ ﹶﺃﺑ‬‫ﺮﺕ‬ ‫ ّﻜ‬‫ﺎ ﺳ‬‫ﻤ‬‫ﻟﹶﻘﹶﺎﻟﹸﻮﺍ ﺇﹺﻧ‬ They would surely say: "Our eyes have been

(as if) dazzled. Nay, we are a people
‫ﻭﻥﹶ‬‫ﻮﺭ‬‫ﺤ‬‫ﺴ‬‫ﻣ‬ bewitched."

And they (disbelievers) plotted (to kill Jesus),

 ‫ﻚ‬‫ﻛﹶﺬﹶﻟ‬‫ﻭ‬ And thus We have set up in every town great

ones of its wicked people to plot therein. But

Firaun (Pharaoh) said: "You have believed in
him (Moosa (Moses)) before I give you

permission. Surely, this is a plot which you have
‫ﻮﻥﹶ‬‫ﹶﻠﻤ‬‫ﺗﻌ‬ ‫ﻑ‬
 ‫ﻮ‬‫ﺎ ﻓﹶﺴ‬‫ﻠﹶﻬ‬‫ﺃﹶﻫ‬ plotted in the city to drive out its people, but you
shall come to know.

‫ ﺃﹶﻭ‬‫ﻠﹸﻮﻙ‬‫ﻘﹾﺘ‬‫ ﻳ‬‫ﻙ ﹶﺃﻭ‬ ‫ﻮ‬‫ﺜﹾﹺﺒﺘ‬‫ﻟﻴ‬ ‫ﻭﺍﹾ‬‫ ﹶﻛ ﹶﻔﺮ‬‫ﻳﻦ‬‫ ﺍﻟﱠﺬ‬‫ ﹺﺑﻚ‬‫ﻜﹸﺮ‬‫ﻤ‬‫ﺇﹺﺫﹾ ﻳ‬‫ﻭ‬ And (remember) when the disbelievers plotted
against you (O Muhammad SAW) to imprison
‫ﺮ‬‫ﻴ‬‫ ﺧ‬‫ﺍﻟﻠﹼﻪ‬‫ ﻭ‬‫ ﺍﻟﻠﹼﻪ‬‫ﻜﹸﺮ‬‫ﻤ‬‫ﻳ‬‫ﻭﻥﹶ ﻭ‬‫ﻜﹸﺮ‬‫ﻤ‬‫ﻭﻳ‬ ‫ﻮﻙ‬‫ﺮﹺﺟ‬‫ﺨ‬‫ﻳ‬ you, or to kill you, or to get you out (from your

home, i.e. Makkah); they were plotting and Allah

‫ﻦ‬ ‫ﺮﹺﻳ‬‫ﺎﻛ‬‫ﺍﻟﹾﻤ‬
too was planning, and Allah is the Best of the
planners.

‫ ﺇﹺﺫﹶﺍ‬‫ﻢ‬‫ﻬ‬‫ﺘ‬‫ﻣﺴ‬ ‫ﺍ َﺀ‬‫ﺮ‬‫ ﺿ‬‫ﺪ‬‫ﺑﻌ‬ ‫ّﻦ‬‫ ﹰﺔ ﻣ‬‫ﻤ‬‫ﺣ‬‫ﺱ ﺭ‬  ‫ﺎ‬‫ﺎ ﺍﻟﻨ‬‫ﺇﹺﺫﹶﺍ ﺃﹶﺫﹶﻗﹾﻨ‬‫ﻭ‬ And when We let mankind taste of mercy after
some adversity has afflicted them, behold! They
take to plotting against Our Ayat (proofs,
‫ﺎ‬‫ﻠﹶﻨ‬‫ﺳ‬‫ﺍ ﺇﹺﻥﱠ ﺭ‬‫ﻜﹾﺮ‬‫ ﻣ‬‫ﺮﻉ‬ ‫ ﹶﺃﺳ‬‫ﺎ ﻗﹸﻞﹺ ﺍﻟﻠﹼﻪ‬‫ﺗﻨ‬‫ﺎ‬‫ﻲ ﺁﻳ‬‫ ﻓ‬‫ﻜﹾﺮ‬‫ﻢ ﻣ‬‫ﻟﹶﻬ‬

evidences, verses, lessons, signs, revelations,
etc.)! Say: "Allah is more Swift in planning!"
‫ﻭﻥﹶ‬‫ﻜﹸﺮ‬‫ﻤ‬‫ﺎ ﺗ‬‫ﻮﻥﹶ ﻣ‬‫ﺒ‬‫ﻜﹾﺘ‬‫ﻳ‬ Certainly, Our Messengers (angels) record all of
that which you plot.

‫ﺎ‬‫ﻴﻌ‬‫ﻤ‬‫ ﺟ‬‫ﻜﹾﺮ‬‫ ﺍﻟﹾﻤ‬‫ﻠﻠﹼﻪ‬‫ ﹶﻓ‬‫ﻬﹺﻢ‬‫ﻠ‬‫ﻦ ﹶﻗﺒ‬‫ﻦ ﻣ‬ ‫ﻳ‬‫ﺮ ﺍﻟﱠﺬ‬ ‫ﻜﹶ‬‫ ﻣ‬‫ﻗﹶﺪ‬‫ﻭ‬

And verily, those before them did devise plots,
but all planning is Allahs.

Indeed, they planned their plot, and their plot

‫ﺇﹺﻥ ﻛﹶﺎﻥﹶ‬‫ ﻭ‬‫ﻢ‬‫ﻫ‬‫ﻜﹾﺮ‬‫ ﻣ‬‫ ﺍﻟﻠﹼﻪ‬‫ﻨﺪ‬‫ﻋ‬‫ ﻭ‬‫ﻢ‬‫ﻫ‬‫ﻜﹾﺮ‬‫ﻭﺍﹾ ﻣ‬‫ﻜﹶﺮ‬‫ ﻣ‬‫ﻗﹶﺪ‬‫ﻭ‬ was with Allah, though their plot was a great

(one, still) it would never be able to remove the

‫ﺎﻝﹸ‬‫ﺠﺒ‬

Eat not (O believers) of that (meat) on which

Allahs Name has not been pronounced (at the
time of the slaughtering of the animal), for sure
it is Fisq (a sin and disobedience of Allah).

‫ﻢ‬‫ﻬ‬‫ﻘﹸﻮﺍﹾ ﺃﹶﻧ‬‫ ﹶﻓﺴ‬‫ﻳﻦ‬‫ﻋﻠﹶﻰ ﺍﻟﱠﺬ‬ ‫ﺭﹺّﺑﻚ‬ ‫ﺖ‬‫ﻤ‬‫ ﹶﻛﻠ‬‫ﺣﻘﱠﺖ‬ ‫ﻚ‬‫ﻛﹶﺬﹶﻟ‬ Thus is the Word of your Lord justified against

those who rebel (disobey Allah) that they will

‫ﻮﻥﹶ‬‫ﻨ‬‫ﻣ‬‫ﺆ‬‫ﻻﹶ ﻳ‬ not believe (in the Oneness of Allah and in

Muhammad SAW as the Messenger of Allah).

‫ﺮﹺ‬‫ ﺃﹶﻣ‬‫ﻦ‬‫ﻖ ﻋ‬ ‫ﺠ ﹺّﻦ ﻓﹶﻔﹶﺴ‬

‫ ﺍﻟﹾ ﹺ‬‫ﻣﻦ‬ ‫ ﻛﹶﺎ ﹶﻥ‬‫ﻴﺲ‬‫ﻠ‬‫ﻭﺍ ﺇﹺﻟﱠﺎ ﹺﺇﺑ‬‫ﺪ‬‫ﺠ‬‫ﻓﹶﺴ‬ So they prostrated except Iblees (Satan). He

18:50
was one of the jinns; he disobeyed the
‫ﺑﹺّﻪ‬‫ﺭ‬ Command of his Lord.

And as for those who are Fasiqoon

(disbelievers and disobedient to Allah), their
abode will be the Fire,

And indeed We have sent down to you manifest

them but Fasiqoon (those who rebel against
Allahs Command).

‫ﲔ‬
 ‫ﺳﻘ‬ ‫ ﹺﻡ ﺍﻟﹾﻔﹶﺎ‬‫ﻋﻦﹺ ﺍﻟﹾ ﹶﻘﻮ‬ ‫ﻰ‬‫ﺿ‬‫ﻳﺮ‬ ‫ ﹶﻻ‬‫ﻓﹶﺈﹺﻥﱠ ﺍﻟﻠﹼﻪ‬ Allah is not pleased with the people who are Al-
Fasiqoon (rebellious, disobedient to Allah).

Is then he who is a believer like him who is
