LEARN THE AGELESS SECRETS OF SUCCESS

From laptop of Nathan Schneider in the tropical Caribbean

Fellow student of success: I was a less than successful business man all of my life. Does this sound familiar? You are not alone. I have been there and done that! If you feel the way I did, read how I created success and how you can too. One day, like you today, I decided that I needed to change. The problem was I did not know what I needed to change to be successful. I started searching for what I was missing in my life that caused me to fall short of my potential. I read everything I could get my hands on to discover what was missing in my life. My search took a lot of twists and turns, but slowly I started to discover what I was searching for. I discovered that the principles that men have used to create their success have been the same through the ages. Ancient philosophers have talked of them. The writers of the New Testament wrote about them. Buddhist and Chinese writers and philosophers have written about them. These principles are ageless and as inspiring today as they were thousands of years ago. The more I discovered the more I wanted to learn more. I had these success principles all over my desk and in my drawers and in my computer and on my bookshelves. The problem was now I was swimming in knowledge but still far less than successful. What I decided to do was catalog these ageless secrets and make them part of my life. In the process of writing these secrets down I started to apply them, a little here and a little there. As I applied them, they started to become part of my life. Then I realized the first simple but most important secret principle.

Knowledge is power, but only so much as I was willing to act upon that knowledge!
The problem is not the knowledge about how to be successful, the problem was why I couldnt make the knowledge work like successful people did! I finally figured it out and that is what I share with you in this book about the AGELESS SECRETS OF SUCCESS.

This book will teach you what you must do to be successful. You will learn the ageless secrets of success and you will learn what you must do to for these secrets to change your life. You will learn the things you must let go of in your life so the secrets will bring the success you desire. You will learn how these things limit your performance and your happiness. The most important tool you will learn about is the source of unlimited knowledge and guidance in your life. You will learn the key character quality that leads to success, and how to use it. You will understand for the first time in your life how the important people influence your ability to succeed and what you can do to change their influence over you.

With the knowledge you will gain from this book you will finally understand why you have been success deficient. You will finally be able to change your life to become the person you want to be. You will finally have answers to friends and family when they ask why you are not successful. You will be able to tell them what you are doing to change your life. You will finally realize you are not a failure. After reading this book you will know how you can be very successful.

You may wonder if I can really help a success deficient person like yourself. Here are some comments from individuals who were just like you.

Thank you so much for your candid approach to what I need to do the be successful. I now know what has been preventing me from succeeding all those years. James D Pasadena, CA I am so glad I read your book. I have struggled for so many years. I thought I was doomed to failure until I found your book. Now I am moving forward and slowly changing the things I need to make my life what I want it to be. Carmen A L St George, UT My professional life has been middle management in various companies. I could not break out to a executive position I felt I was qualified for. I am now being considered for a VP position in my present company. I owe it all to your book. It opened my eyes to what was getting in my way. Jacob W. New York, NY

INTRODUCTION
We all want to be successful in life. Each of us defines success in a different way. When we are young, success is a better job or a better car. When we are older success is a more rewarding job and less commuting. Intolerance of your present condition can ignite changes Just as tolerance of your current conditions will prevent changes Author unknown No matter what success is to us at this time in our life, we will have to change something to achieve it. That something starts with our attitude and outlook. Our attitude is colored by many things. Our childhood, our marriage or lack of, and our employment experiences all affect self image and therefore how we manage our life.

The important thing to understand is that success requires change. Change is difficult and very frustrating. Why is it difficult and frustrating? Change requires that we let go of old cherished but ineffective ways of thinking and living. It requires that we learn and embrace new and sometimes foreign ways of thinking and doing. All of this letting go and embracing new is very hard emotionally. It is hard to let go of long time attitudes and desires. It is hard retraining our minds and our attitudes. The author has had to make many changes over the last several years and he has first hand experience of the trials and frustrations that come with change. Tools to management this change is the purpose of this book. This book gives you a fresh new way of looking at your life and what is needed to make the changes you desire. It is not intended to be a "how to" text that lists thing you need to do for a new job or more money or better social life. That is available in other texts. What this book will do is help you clear your head of distractions and open your eyes to new ways of looking at your life. With these tools you will be better able to make the needed changes to succeed in whatever way you desire. Never limit yourself, never be satisfied, and smile - it's free! Jenny Finch

Consider this:
We are productive longer in life, and we live long enough now that we can live two productive lives or more The big question is where do I go from here? We have unfulfilled dreams and ambitions. Imagine this: A caterpillar that has reached the end of its slow crawl. Where to go from here? The caterpillar forms a cocoon around itself while it decides where it is going next. One day it breaks out of its cocoon and has become a beautiful butterfly. We want to become, like the butterfly, and become the dream that has been waiting inside of us. This book will give you the ageless tools and attitudes needed to successfully become your dream. You're only allowed to have this one short trip in this realm we call life, you owe it to yourself to make it the best trip ever, you owe it to yourself to live this life with nothing holding you back in any shape, size or form.

Throughout this book you will see quotes like above. These are individual examples of different secrets shared by a famous person. Most importantly you will see that these very successful individuals from all walks of life have had similar feelings to yours. The secret they share is one of many they used to succeed in their labors. Since they became successful and famous, you can see that these principles work. Since all success requires overcoming challenges, it is obvious they overcame their challenges, just as you will overcome yours when you put these secrets into action. These quotes are also meant to be encouragement to you when you are feeling discouraged. Oh, by the way, you will feel discouraged. Feeling "discouraged" is part of the process of change just as the "joys" of accomplishment are part of the process. This book is full of intense ideas and it will be hard to digest all at once. A good way to manage this intense course is to take it a piece at a time. When this material becomes overwhelming, take a break. While you are reading this course, take notes. Write your feelings or your ideas on how to use these secrets to implement your success.

YOUR DREAMS
The pursuit of our dreams is, at heart, an act of faith combined with a giant act of will. But when it pays off, the unexpected happens. The world shifts around you, unseen passages open, and in many ways, the rules of realityat least the rules that have defined your realitychange. Bahram Akradi, Founder of Life Time Fitness Our dreams are what set us apart from others. They are our identity, our reason for being. To make our dreams real we need to act and make them happen right? This book of tools you are reading gives you practical time tested principles that can you put into your life to make your dreams real. Imagine this. Close your eyes and see a bucket full of water. Now imagine adding one then two stones to the water. What happens? The bucket overflowed right? The same principle operates in your life. We can not add anything new until we do what? Take some of the old out. We can not put new ways into our life until we take out some of the old ways that are in our way to success. One of the reasons we must take out old ways of thinking and living is that they influence how we will manage the new we want to put in. In our bucket illustration instead of putting in a couple of rocks lets imagine that the water is colored blue. Now we add red colored water. What do

we have? Remember back in elementary school playing with paints? Red and blue make purple. If we want the color dark purple, great. If we want light purple we have to take some of the red water out. The red water is affecting the resulting purple color density. The same principle affects our life also. The old ways of thinking and doing affect how the new ways we ant to add will be managed. If our life is a series of poor ways we make decisions, or other emotional burdens, these will affect how we feel about a new way of thinking or doing. So first we need to look at some of the things that get in the way of new ways of living.

YOUR NEED FOR CHANGE

Our past builds and clutters our future.
We allow poor attitudes to affect how we will manage our life. We accumulate things, which is normal as we start out life. We collect emotional baggage, which can be the most difficult to manage because we can not take a vacation from our emotions. We also accumulate other peoples expectations for us. Sometimes that is a very heavy load to carry. We only become what we are by the radical and deep-seeded refusal of that which others have made of us. Jean-Paul Sartre

Attitudes
A positive thinker does not refuse to recognize the negative, he refuses to dwell on it. Positive thinking is a form of thought which habitually looks for the best results from the worst conditions. Norman Vincent Peale (1898-1993) Cleric and writer, He wrote "The power of positive Thinking" in 1953 and reminded us of what is possible

Let me share a very simple truth with you. It goes like this. Imagine two men are in prison and look out the window together. What do they see? One sees mud.and the other sees stars. Mud is ugly and hopeless. Stars are beautiful and full of hope. Their situation is exactly the same, exactly. But one looks up and the other looks down. One thinks positive and sees opportunity. The other looks down and sees mud and limited options.

Here is what happens in life. Accidents happen, companies lay off, and marriages fall apart. The person that looks down and sees mud sees the limited options for change. That person feels overcome by the disaster and that feeling affects how they see what comes next in their life. The person who looks up and sees stars (no he was not knocked unconscious!) sees the abundance of options available. That positive outlook affects how that person will see what comes next and how he will react.
Many of our fears are tissue-paper-thin, and a single courageous step would carry us clear through them. Brendan Francis Behan (1923-1964) Playwright

Think about this real life example. There was a family that immigrated to the United States in the mid 1800s. On the voyage across the Atlantic one of their children got sick, and died. On the boat ride down the Ohio River another fell overboard and drowned. On the trip across the country another got sick with fever and, yes she died also. This couple lost three of their four children on the trip from England to their new home in the West. This couple suffered equally. Yet the husband saw mud and was bitter all the rest of his life. The wife saw stars and was comforted by the sure knowledge her children were in a better place. In this true story, the couple shared the exact same event, but they had two very different responses. Therefore, they had two opposing ways of seeing new events in their lives. This happens all the time in divorces and accidents and illnesses that happen in life today. How we view the events of life today affect how we view events tomorrow.

Attitude Change
To see the wonderful opportunities around us we need to have an attitude of wonder and excitement to see the next opportunity that will come our way.
Achievers have an attitude of expectancy. They minimize their losses. They do not grieve over failures or what might have been. Achievers look around the corner in anticipation of the good things that still await them. Allan Cox Business advisor and author

Look again at Allan Cox statement. Achievers have an attitude of expectancy That statement prepares you for your next opportunity. An opportunity that only a person who focuses on the stars will see.

We accumulate things
As we start life we acquire the things that make our life possible. We commit to the expense of our education. This can be a very big commitment. We buy a car which is very important for most of us living in the United States. We buy clothes for self image and for our professional needs. What can happen is we become so accustomed to acquiring we loose track of what is really important. Have you ever driven down a normal suburban street on a Saturday morning and looked at the open garages? What do you see? I am sure you will see the same thing I have. The very expensive transportation investment sits out in the weather because the garage is filled with an abundance of things home owner can not part with. It is not so much a problem of acquiring new things that is the problem. It is the inability to let go of the unneeded or unwanted! This is a very real example of what happens in our thinking. We accumulate new ideas but dont take the time to let go of old ones. This accumulation sneaks up on us a box at a time, one thought at a time. We do not realize we have a problem until it is too late. That creates a burden of managing the abundance of the unused and not needed things and thoughts. Then we have the proverbial elephant in the room. That elephant of a problem must be managed before it crushes us. It does not matter whether the elephant is things or thoughts. We must manage them or our life becomes a constant effort to clean up the mess! In other societies in the world they do not have this problem. They do not have the luxury of buying the abundance or an abundance of space to store it as we Americans do. They must address their unwanted things immediately. They go out to the trash or to where ever the unneeded things go such as a charity. But they go!
No fine work can be done without concentration and self-sacrifice and toil and doubt. Max Beerbohm

This all may seem like a small cultural difference at first. But this accumulation becomes a burden that limits our life. We are no longer free. We are burdened with the management of our accumulated things. A few years ago there was a friend of mine, a man who had many changes in his life in a few short years. He suffered a business failure, and cancer took his wife. He managed his accumulations at each change of events by renting storage unites for the unneeded things of his previous stages in his life. One day he had to accept that these accumulations were costing him a fortune in storage bills. And more than that, he could not find anything when he needed it! He solved his problem by doing what he had been unwilling or unable to do. He began to make the hard decisions about each item, or each box. Goodbye storage and welcome freedom. The key is the new found freedom. It is like gaining weight. It sneaks up on us. We do not realize the burden it has become, until we loose it. We then have a whole new outlook and ability in life. It is exciting to feel the freedom again. With this newfound freedom we can see our life more clearly and make other important decisions. The key point in the managing of our things is that they are tangible. We can touch them, and see them. We can also see the empty space when they are gone and appreciate our achievement. Managing our things prepares us for the really hard stuff, managing our memories and emotions
Past experience should be a guide post, not a hitching post. D. W. Williams

We collect emotional baggage

Emotional baggage is probably the most difficult thing to manage in our daily life. The reason is we cant see it! It is there, but it is invisible. It is like the air we breathe. We can not see it, but without it we can not exist. When the unseen air starts moving fast, it can create great damage in the world around us. It is the same with our emotions. We need them. Without them we are sterile robots. Emotions are the center of our memories. They color everything we remember or dont remember. How we felt when an event occurred affects whether we will even remember the event. Also, our emotional position affects how a memory is carried. If we are happy at the time, it is a good memory. If we are unhappy or frustrated, the memory is carried as a bad memory. The event can be shared by two people, but remembered totally differently. Remember our story of the immigrant couple

above? This is because of the emotional state we are in at the time the event took place. This happens a lot in a marriage. Another function of our emotions is to help us manage decision making. Emotions help prioritize the information as it comes into our brain. This prioritizing helps us decide if the information needs to be handled or not. If it needs to be handled, what is the level of urgency? Emotional baggage can upset the orderly flow of information management. We over react or under react or worse we dont react at all. We have a very chaotic life when we can not manage the information we receive in our life. Probably the worst emotional baggage is the kind that we acquire as a result of what others have done to us. A similar situation is the emotional baggage that comes from what we perceived was done to us. These are such strong emotions that they can destroy lives, marriages and other relationships. These emotional burdens can be the very high wall in our life and in our relations with others. With things, we can manage them by looking at them and deciding to keep or let go of it. With emotions it is not so simple. The burdens we carry from our personal relations we take them personal. We take them as an assault on our personal being. These can be from abuse or divorce or from perceived slights from someone important in our life. These emotional assaults cut us deeply. Yet there is a very simple but effective way to overcome this damage. Jesus of Nazareth taught his followers to forgive 70 x 7. That seems so simple it can not possibly help. Think about this. Does our pain achieve anything? Does it correct the damage? Does it strike back at the perpetrator? Does our pain make the damage go away? No. When we forgive we have the power to heal our soul. Forgiving does not change what has happened, but it changes how we relate to it. That is everything. Remember, our attitude is the only thing we can control in life. Again the only thing we control in life is our attitude. Lets look at this forgiveness a little more. We can not change a drunken fathers actions. We can not change a drunken drivers actions. We can not change a spouses behavior. What we can do is change our attitude and how we allow this event to impact our emotions. Here is a very powerful real world example. When the USA army liberated one German concentration camp they found all in desperate condition as you would expect. Except one man. He appeared to have only recently arrived at the camp. He was busy helping translate since he spoke several languages. He was excited and energetic. When the military interviewed him they were

astounded. He was one of the longest held in the camp. This was so exceptional they had to know what was the cause of this seeming miraculous achievement. The interviewers asked him what it was that made such a difference in his health and vitality in such a deprived situation. His answer was simple yet so very powerful. He said I refused to hate. He controlled the only thing he had, his attitude. Remember this as you think that forgiving 70 x 7 is too simple. When we forgive we take control of our life. We are free. We are free of the guilt, of the pain of the bad feelings we have carried. We now have power in this situation and that power is life changing!
Whether you think you or think you cant, youre probably right Henry Ford We accumulate other peoples expectations for us The classic example of this is the son who is sent to law school because it is his parents dream that he become a lawyer. Yet he is a fine pianist and dreams of playing. How successful a lawyer will this young man be? Another example is a woman who is influenced to work when her heart is home with her children. How successful or happy will she be in her work? Ideas for managing these type emotional burdens are considered later in the section on Vested Interests. No man is free who is not a master of himself. Epictetus Ancient Greek philosopher

OUT WITH THE OLD, BEFORE, IN WITH THE NEW

We need to take old attitudes and habits out of our life before we can add new and improved attitudes and habits. If we try to add new before we let go of the old, there is little or no room for the new person to reside inside us. It is like the typical American garage. Stuff goes in, stuff stays. Soon no space for car and eventually any more stuff.

Each day we make decisions based on our experience from yesterday. When we let go of yesterday, we are now free today to think of new ideas, new ventures or new relationships that are not a progression from our yesterdays. We are genuinely free! Sometimes that means we are free for the first time in our lives. This is a very big and very exciting feeling. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, expecting different results Albert Einstein Think about this. We make decisions today based on our experience yesterday. But yesterday was based on the day before and so on. It is like a road we drive on. If we find we are going the wrong direction we have to change roads. We have to leave the old road and take the new one. Life is like that. Our decisions are the road our life is taking. If we want to change directions we must leave that road or the chain of decisions we have been making. It is not easy, but is absolutely necessary. The question is, how do we make the change in the road of decisions we have been making. Sometimes the change is thrust upon us by job change, divorce, death or other seaming disaster. Then the need for change is set by default. Other times change is a personal decision, like loosing weight, or changing a career. A gem is not polished without rubbing, nor a man perfected without trials.

Chinese Proverb Either way, success requires that our attitude is positive, proactive. We must be in control of our new direction. It helps to sit down with a pen and paper or computer text program and list in two columns the issues in your life. The first is a list of positive qualities in your life. These are attitudes we want to keep and even expand. The other is a list of negative qualities or negative attitudes. This is the list of attitudes and feelings we want or need to change or loose completely. Making this list brings non tangible feelings and thoughts out of the corners of our mind and places them in front of our eyes so we can see them. When we see them on paper, or txt, they have substance and we can manipulate them. It is like those block puzzles. We move the pieces around until they fit. Our list does the same thing with our issues that have been hiding in the back of our mind. There is a get out of debt process taught by Dave Ramsey. List your credit cards with their balances. Then pay off the smallest first. By paying off the smallest first we see progress and that is reinforcing. The same principle applies to our attitudes and issues. Change the easiest first and start feeling good about yourself and the direction you are going. Changing the easiest might be as simple as leaving earlier for work so we are less stressed by traffic. It could be setting one day a week to devote to our family. As we perfect our new change we are ready for the next on our list. In a short time we begin to see the new direction our life is taking. We are removing old obsolete ideas and attitudes out of our life and this leaves room in our life for new more effective ideas and attitudes.

He who is outside his door already has the hard part of his journey behind him. Dutch proverb The new ideas and attitudes we bring to our lives are characteristics that we consciously want to add because they will bring us closer to our new direction for our life. Now you see why so many individuals have difficulty loosing weight or succeeding in a new business venture. We unconsciously try to go a new direction without leaving the old. It is impossible to succeed that way. Remember what Mr. Einstein said.. Insanity is doing the same thing over and over again,

expecting different results

No more insanity in your life! Here is a story to help you have perspective as you consider your situation further. "Once there was a donkey that fell in to an old empty well. The farmer, who owns the donkey, looked at the beast and tried to figure how to get it out of there. Having thought of nothing to get the donkey out of the well, he decided to simply bury his donkey alive! So the farmer called his neighbors to shovel dirt into the well. At first the donkey got frightened and panicked. After some time the beast realized that if he shakes the dirt of his back, the ground under him gets higher. He continued to shake the dirt off and step up until the well was full. I will leave to your imagination what the donkey did to the farmer and his neighbors when he got out of the well. Many times we feel life is throwing dirt at us. Problems seem to hit us at all directions. Even when you feel everything is OK, suddenly dirt smacks you in the face. Sometimes you can even feel the bitterness of the dirt! There are others who not only feel that dirt is being thrown at them, but feel that they are being buried alive. Their problems seem to pile to up from one to the next, until their problems are bigger than they are. They feel like all the world's trash is being poured out on to them. But we can use this dirt. We can use life's problems and troubles to produce strength, wisdom, perseverance, patience and other virtues in us that will help us succeed in life. The dirt thrown at you can be used to increase your stature, your character. We should imitate the donkey. Instead of giving up and letting himself be buried, he shook the dirt off him. We too should learn to shake our problems and STEP ON IT. And like the donkey, we will get out of the hole we are in. Up to a point a mans life is shaped by environment, heredity, and movements and changes in the world about him; then there comes a time when it lies within his grasp to shape the clay of his life into the sort of thing he wishes to be.Everyone has it within his power to say, this I am today, that I shall be tomorrow. Louis LAmour (1908-1988) Novelist famous for his stories of the 1880's West

The Tunnel Vision Approach

Jim Straw is a small business advisor. He is a very successful businessman in addition to his advisory service. He offers a story that dramatizes a major failing in people, especially men, that are trying to better themselves in the business world. He calls the idea tunnel vision. I would call it discipline or focus. The idea is the same. Here is his story. What is the major difference between people making an extra $1,000 per month on the Internet and the ones that make big money? The answer is simple. Well, maybe not so simple but over the years, I have observed that one of the greatest differences between those who achieve mediocre results or no results and those who start a small business and build an empire is that they have developed a Tunnel Vision Approach A tunnel vision represented by a closed-in and very narrow view of the objectives is the usual attitude of a big company. It is like looking through a tunnel . This narrow view is one of the curses of big, bureaucratic businesses. But it is an absolute necessity for the beginning entrepreneur. Too many people who want to become rich and successful never reach their goals simply because they do not develop a tunnel vision approach to their goal. Instead, they are constantly searching for that one perfect business; that one BIG deal, that will put them on Easy Street overnight for the rest of their life. One week they are trying to get into the export business. The week after they want to own a franchise, or buy an apartment building, or start a mailorder

business. Each new book they read creates a greener pasture for them to explore. They dont miss out on trying any, and every, new opportunity. They may eke out an existence, or even achieve a modicum of success but they never make any real money. Most of them keep their day-job while they explore opportunity after opportunity never making a true commitment to any business just dabbling in the business world; looking for that one big deal to give them overnight success. If it wasnt for their day-job, they and their family would starve to death. The beginning entrepreneur who, on the other hand, develops a tunnel vision approach to making money usually makes it. As an illustration, let me tell you a true story about my first successful full-time business the business upon which I began building my empire. Since the age of nine, I have been an avid reader of how to make money books. Each time I read a new book, I discovered a new opportunity and chased around trying for a time to make my fortune in that field. The grass was always greener in this new pasture. After all, I had been trying my current business for a couple months and hadnt yet made my fortune. Back in the mid-1960s, as a result of some of my reading, and with my wifes urging, I had opened a small retail Womens Wig Shop. There was supposed to be a real fortune to be made in that field. In a few months, I had read another book and was ready to get started on yet another quick fortune. After all, I had opened the Wig Shop, like the book writer told me, and the world had not beaten a path to my door. While I was explaining my proposed plans to my wife, she nearly floored me when she said, Why dont you just give up and lets try to at least make a living from this Wig Shop. (By the way, nobody ever becomes rich and successful until they give up and quit chasing non-existent rainbows.) Her comment cut deep into my male ego. It intimated that I was less than a good provider and hadnt really earned a living for us. It made me mad mad enough that I told her, All right, if thats what you want, Ill do nothing but run the Wig Shop. If it fails, we can starve together. In other words, I was going to show her that we couldnt make it in the wig business. I would be right, and she would have to agree that we should have gone ahead with my latest plans. Since I was no longer spending my time developing or investigating new plans, I had plenty of time to get involved directly in the sale of wigs in the shop.

In no time at all, I learned that I couldnt answer the questions the customers were asking about the wigs. This led me to start reading everything I could about wigs. How they were made. Where they came from. The differences in construction. The tests of quality what made one wig worth more than another. All so I could answer the customers questions. While I was learning these things, I also discovered that I was buying from third and fourth party dealers, and was paying entirely too much for my inventory only allowing me a gross profit of from 25% to 40%. I found purchasing directly from the importers and manufacturers importing the wigs myself reduced my costs, and increased my profits. Every time I got side-tracked and started working on a new project (outside the wig business), my wife would put it down by saying, Look, were making money in the wig business. Lets stay with it. Slowly but surely, with my wifes urging, I developed that all-important tunnel vision. To make a long story short, in less than three years I was one of the largest wig dealers in the southeastern U.S. My fortune was made. I had bought a new Cadillac, a 14-room mansion with five bathrooms and a 20 x 60 swimming pool. If you are now, like I was then, I can just about hear the comments running through your mind. Hey, Ive been there. I know what I was thinking at the time. If your reasoning process follows what mine was back then, your thoughts are most likely something like this If I put all my eggs in one basket, I could lose everything. Or What if I get so involved in only one business that I miss that really big, one-time break that might come along? Or What if the business only pays me a living wage? Ill be trapped. I want to make a fortune, not just a living. What I did was to take the techniques and ideas I had learned about in other businesses in which I had been involved and applied them, while staying within the scope of my tunnel vision the wig business. If youve been reading how to make money materials for any time at all whether you realize it or not you have soaked-up literally hundreds, upon hundreds, of business ideas, techniques and applications you can use in your business (no matter what that business may be).

As an example: At one time, I had thought about getting started in a Party Plan business. It didnt pan out, but I applied the party plan idea to the wig business by going back to the party plan book and adjusting everything to fit my wig business. It wasnt unusual for one of my wig parties to produce from $300 to $500 in one evening. More that a months salary back then. Another book I had read told how a restaurant had increased its business by painting its building bright colors, adding banners and hand-painted signs. So, I had the outside of one of my wig shops painted yellow, orange and red using Day-Glo paint. The windows were painted red, green, blue and yellow in a carousel pattern. Hand-painted, brightly colored signs were everywhere inside and out. The business doubled overnight. Reading about a novelty shop franchise, I had learned that they used a loss leader an item they offered at cost; or less to bring customers into the store. Beauty salons in our area, at that time, were charging from $7.50 to $15 to style womens wigs. So, wig styling became my loss leader. We did wig styling for $2 if the woman bought at least one wig from our shop. When a woman left a wig for styling, or picked one up, we could show them new styles. They just kept buying. One lady bought over 50 wigs from us in less than 2 years. We did all of her wig styling at $2 each saving her a fortune in styling charges alone plus she was a walking advertisement for our wig shop and referred countless new customers to us. Once I learned, developed and used a tunnel vision approach in my wig business, I made my fortune through a logical progression of accumulation, leverage and natural diversification. Throughout the years, I have observed that all successful business people especially my most productive dealers have developed that all-important tunnel vision approach in their businesses. My all-time best, most productive dealer may he rest in peace (he died in 1995) became a dealer for one of my products in 1978. I remember it well because his first check bounced and he had to pay for his future orders with Money Orders after he made his check good. At first, his efforts were sporadic. Some months, he would make a couple thousand dollars. Then, he might go 2 or 3 months without producing an order

followed by a couple months when he would pick-up a few hundred dollars per month. In mid-1983, his orders leveled-out at about $3,000 per month by the end of the year, his monthly order volume was just over $5,000. Five years later, he was earning over $20,000 per month selling over $40,000 worth of my products each month. I met the man for the first time when I attended a seminar in Chicago. After we laughed about his first check to us bouncing, I learned that he had retired with a reasonable pension a couple years before he became a dealer for my products. At that time, he was dabbling in a number of small businesses and thought mail order might be a money-maker for him. He chose one of my products to start but kept looking for other better opportunities. At the end of 1982, he had looked back over what he had been doing and to his amazement discovered that he had made more money dollar for dollar selling my products, than from any other opportunity he had pursued. So, he decided to put all of his efforts into selling my products. In 1991 his last year in business with me he was earning over $100,000 per month from my products plus however much he made beyond that on the other, related, products he sold for other drop shippers. So, the major difference between people making an extra $1,000 per month on the Internet and the ones that make big money, is the same as the difference between beginning entrepreneurs who just eke out a living in business and those who build empires. Those who succeed are those who develop and use a tunnel vision approach. The others keep thinking there has to be something else better, more profitable that they could be doing, so they keep looking-for it, instead of using what they have to achieve the success they want. Give up on finding a better, more profitable opportunity. Apply yourself to the opportunity at hand whatever it may be. Give-up spending your time developing or investigating new plans. Make what you have work for you. Accumulate, leverage and diversify logically. You wont succeed in anything until you develop and use a tunnel vision approach in your business endeavors as all successful business people have. Now, heres a trick you can use to Organize Your Time & Efforts

At least once a month, I get something from Day Timers theyre the people who produce all of those appointment and scheduling books you see Real Estate agents carrying around with them. In one of their offerings, they included this Success Tip. Start Each Day by Making a List! Jot down everything you need to do that day. Then go back and number each item by priority. Work on your #1 priority first and try to stay with it until youre done. Then start on #2 and so on. Very good advice but about 25 years ago, I found a better way for me, anyway. Every time I have an idea, or learn of a job I need to do, or think of a topic for this e-Letter, I print it in red on a 3x5 yellow Post-It note and stick it on the top of my desk. Then, when I have some time, I do the jobs that need to be done; move the idea notes to my BIG Idea Notebook; and move the topic notes to my e-Letter Notebook. When a job has been done, or an idea has been implemented, or a topic has been covered, I simply throw the note away. That way, I dont have to continually move jobs, ideas or topics ahead in a diary besides, I dont need a daily record of everything I do, or think. Once its done, the note is gone. Hey, it works for me. Try it. It might work for you. You can see Jim Straws services and sign up for his newsletter at www.businesslyceum.com

TOOLS FOR CHANGE

If you worried about falling off the bike, you'd never get on. Lance Armstrong Champion Tour du France

TOOL
We need a whole new outlook, to cut the emotional knots that limit our view and our energy. We need to turn the problem over, to see it from a different angle. This is like turning a coin over to see the different image on the other side.

The solution is often plain, but we dont see it because our view is the conventional front, straight on view. We see as we have always seen. To change our view we must change our viewpoint. Changing our viewpoint is like visiting the backlot of a movie studio. All the buildings look perfectly normal. They look so real. When we leave the tour, and peek around the corner we see that it is all a very one-sided prop. Our view of our life is much the same. When we take the opportunity to peek around the corner, we see a totally different view of our self. We see a totally different set of possibilities. Now we can arrange these new possibilities in ways not possible when we only saw our life from the conventional view. Of all the liars in the world, sometimes the worst are your own fears. Rudyard Kipling TOOL To get a fresh approach to our life; we need to arrange the unstructured thoughts and feelings at the back of their mind. It is in these thoughts and feelings that the new directions in our life are waiting. This idea was mentioned above. It is such a powerful idea you are being reminded again. When we talk to someone or write down our feelings, or our goals or desires, we get them out of the back of our mind and on the table so our conscious mind can see them. When our conscious mind can see them, then we can see how parts and pieces of ideas fit together. This is like assembling a picture puzzle. This piece is an edge and that piece goes in the middle, and so on. It is exactly the same with our ideas and feelings. When they are on the table in front of us we can then see more clearly our possibilities Imagination is more important than knowledge. Albert Einstein

TOOL
Imagination is the highest kite one can fly. Lauren Bacall Actress

Take a minute to imagine you riding in a roller coaster. See yourself sitting in the front car, riding up and down. Now, make another picture of a roller coaster, but this time, do NOT see yourself in the picture. See it as if you were actually looking out of your own eyes, sitting in the roller coaster. Ride for a few moments. Now, which one of those felt more real in your body? I'll bet anything it was the second kind. An image or goal only appears real to your mind if it comes in the second form, as if you were seeing it through your own eyes.

TOOL
To successfully achieve a goal, whether it is personal or professional, you need a plan. This plan defines the project. It outlines the tools you will need and the time to completion. This is project management. If we think about your effort to refocus your life as having substance as in a construction project, then you will apply the necessary time and attention to bring it to a successful conclusion.

Managing your refocus efforts as a concrete effort takes it out of the someday dream category. You are working on an achievable goal. There are many project management software tools available. A simple to use free time management program is 4becproject. A program like this will help you organize your thoughts. It will help make your progress visible and the needed accomplishments more definite. You will also see how the pieces of your Project fit together and you will see missing steps more readily.
The man who removes a mountain begins by carrying away small stones. Chinese Proverb

When you use a project manage software you will be prompted for a time span to complete the task. Remember earlier the debt program of Dave Ramsey, pay the smallest debts first? Well here is where you can visually see in your project which task will take the least time. Here is a suggestion. As you proceed with your project and you have accomplished a few tasks and you are feeling good about what you are doing, take a look at the remaining tasks. You might consider starting a long one to do while you are doing another short one. This will enable you to complete the total project sooner. Keep in mind from a professional project management viewpoint you would immediately do the longest task first then the next longest. The shortest would be last. Then all the pieces are complete at the same time and the project is complete. We are not building a building or resurfacing a road. We are changing our life and we want and need immediate and positive results so we do not get

overwhelmed emotionally before the project is a month old! So, dont let your engineering friend try to distract you from your plan.
Courage is doing what you're afraid to do. There can be no courage unless you're scared. Eddie Rickenbacker USA Top Fighter Ace WW I Former CEO American Airlines

Here is another consideration. Lets say you want to loose 50 pounds in one year. Where will you need to be in six months, in three months, in one month? Then you have a marker to compare your progress. If you are not meeting your guidelines you can redouble your efforts or take a more realistic view and expand the process. You need markers to evaluate your progress. Without marker you are driving blind without feedback on your progress. What tools will you need to accomplish your goal? In our example you start a weight watchers program. After a month you find that your progress is not what you desire so you reevaluate and get a health club membership to get on track. The markers help you make evaluations based on facts and accomplishments, not hopes and dreams.
Nothing is particularly hard if you divide it into small jobs. Henry Ford Dont just dream about grandiose acts of doing good. Every day do small ones, that add up over time to positive patterns. Marian Wright Edelman

Here is a real life example of this principle of breaking the project into small easily completed parts. Mount Everest is the highest mountain peak in the world. It was an impossible dream to climb it until a New Zealander, Edmund Hilary accomplished the impossible. Now it is done regularly by individuals from around the world. Each climbing group does it the same as Hilary did, small sections at a time. The project is broken down into sections. First everything is packed into a base camp. Then the next step in the effort is climbing over the glacier above base camp. After this second camp is established the real climbing begins. Third camp, then fourth and finally the fifth camps are established. From the fifth camp the assault on the peak is made.

Have confidence that if you have done a little thing well, you can do a bigger thing well, too.

David Storey
In all of this effort problems must be solved. Yet for all of the efforts in planning and preparation, the unforeseen occurs and men fall to their death. Disasters are a part of the effort. When we start to consider changing our life focus, we can easily become overwhelmed by the size of the project. We see all the reasons it cant succeed. We become so focused on the problems; we lose sight of the dream. We become overwhelmed by the prospect of disaster.
I've failed over and over again in my life and that is why I succeed. Michael Jordan

Back in the mid 50s Walt Disney and staff made some projections about how we would get from Terra Firma to Terra Luna. They proposed a nice sleek bullet shaped craft unlike space craft in Buck Rodgers serials in the 30s. Then President Kennedy put his stamp of approval on the idea of actually going there. Sleek bullet shaped rockets were out and stages were in. Like everything else in life, styles change. Scientists calculated the needed lift and distances and atmosphere return problems and made some proposals. This was big stuff. Man had never been in space and we did not even know if he could survive venturing space into let along taking trips to the moon and back. So NASA did what we will do. They broke the effort down into manageable parts. First, make a rocket that got off the ground and went where NASA wanted to go! Remember, after we used up Van Brauns captured German rockets, many of our new design rockets did not make it off the launch pad. This is not a good sign for an astronaut that is considering setting on top of one of those controlled explosions!
What should happen when you make a mistake is this: You take your knocks, you learn your lessons, and then you move on. Ronald Reagan (1911-2004) Former successful actor / U.S. President who broke the Soviet Union

Next, lets see what a quick trip into the vacuum of space would be like. Alan Sheppard received the honor of that experiment. When he came back unharmed NASA felt they could send a bigger experiment up. John Glenn received the dubious honor of going into orbit. Remember this was all new stuff just like your proposed venture.

We all know the resulting achievement on July 20, 1969 when Neil Armstrong stepped onto the moon. The same level of achievement is possible in your life with your dream. You need to take it one step at a time. Your efforts to achieve your dream will see near disaster and outright disaster just like the efforts to land on the moon were. When John Aldrin attempted the first out of craft space venture, his suit ballooned so much he could not get back into the capsule door. His shipmate had instructions to cut him loose if he could not make it. Aldrin was running out of air when he made one last effort, and as you know he made. After having almost not making it, he worked with NASA to make better suits and a big swimming pool to practice EVAs.
Difficulties in life are intended to make us better, not bitter. Dan Reeves

On the other hand Apollo 1 crew was lost, on the launch pad during a practice. That terrible loss caused a redesign of the capsule and a better attention to safety. Just as Aldrin turned a near disaster into a solution for future efforts in space, so will you have disasters that you will turn into remedies for future efforts. It is how we all succeed; it is a normal process of achievement. Expect disaster. Accept it as a part of the overall change process.
Just rememberwhen you think all is lost, the future remains. Robert Goddard (1882-1945) Physicist and rocket scientist Developed the first successful liquid fuel rocket

The problem is we look at failure as a personal assault on our character. We feel failure is wrong, that failure is a defect. We must, embrace failure. If we dont fail enough, we will not succeed.
Many times, the best way to learn is through mistakes. George Brown

What we must do with our effort to change the direction of our life is break the project down into small manageable steps, and just as important, we must expect failures. We learn from our mistakes just as NASA learned from its mistakes. We keep our eye fixed on our goal and keep going. Your moon is waiting!

The will to win is important, but the will to prepare is vital. Joe Paterno

YOUR UNSEEN HELPER

You cant do it unless you can imagine it. George Lucas When we set a course in our life, many times we think to ourselves that such a thing is just too far out of our ability to accomplish. Our personal physical vision is limited to line of sight. What if we had the ability to see for a mile through a forest of trees? Or see in the dark going 80 miles an hour on the Interstate with our headlights off? There was a man who was going 80 miles an hour on the Interstate and he felt the impression to stop. He stopped and saw a landslide ahead that would have buried him if he had not stopped when he did. We all have that ability and more. From the beginning of time man has tried to see further. He has climbed trees, scaled cliffs and by the United States Civil War we were using balloons. In WWI and then WWII aircraft increased mans physical field of vision to miles, even hundreds of miles. Then we had the Cold War between the USA and the USSR. We now had satellites that enabled us to see whole countries in one view. Would you believe that you have even greater vision than satellites? Your sight spans nations, and time itself! This sounds fanciful, but it is real. You see you have an invisible partner. Your partner has your personal playbook of where you need to be and the tools you will need when you get there. Your partner knows from your playbook that at such and such a time you need to be at a specific place. So your partner moves situations, like chess pieces, to move you in the direction you need to go so that you arrive where you need to be, when you need to be there. Let me share a story to help clarify this idea. I know a family of two adopted boys. One day they had two foster children visit. The two year old girl walked in the front door and confidently said Hi Mom to the mother of the family. Well it did not take a rocket scientist to see where this was going to go. The problem was their house was too small for the rapidly growing family. They needed a larger house fast. The quest now was for a four bedroom, two bath house. One glaring problem though. The family was having trouble keeping up with their current expenses. That is a very big problem. Not the difficulty keeping up with expenses, but the lack of savings for a down payment on a new house.

My friend was very familiar with his invisible partner. He had complete confidence his partner would see that the way was provided for him to have the needed house within the allotted time. He found a house at a good price. Not only was the price right, but we had 90 days to arrange the financing. From the deficit position he was in, he needed the extra time to arrange that financing. They received help from friends and extra work. On the 89th day my friend and his wife had their down payment. Most people who hear such a fantastic story think it is too fantastic to be real. Let me assure you it was real. But how could all this come together? My friends invisible partner was very busy moving the game pieces to make it happen. With that assurance, he just put one foot in front of the other and started each day. That is how we moved through those 89 days. Confidence and perseverance, those are the action words for this story. Normally we see such types of events in our life and we think that it is just coincidence or luck." When we do that, we down play the vital role of our partners. Each one of us has such a partner. Many refer casually to them as Guardian Angels. However you acknowledge their role, it does not matter. What matters is seeing their activity in your life. Acknowledge their role and be thankful for it. The more we see it and are thankful, the more readily we receive such attention. It is our thankfulness that makes it easier for our partners to help because we are more easily moved! Their job is to help us. They want to help. It frustrates our partners when we ignore their efforts. My council to you the reader is to look for the examples in your life of your Partner moving the game pieces in your life. Be thankful and look for the reason you are where you are at that time. Then move with the pieces and be patient. It can be quite a wonderful ride. No matter what accomplishments you make, somebody helps you.

Wilma Rudolph

TOOL
When we are quiet, our subconscious can hear direction from our partner. We do not have to have all the answers to achieve our goal. We just need to be able to hear our partner whispering in our ear and act on his council.

Our partners resource center has access to any information and guidance he may need to guide us in our quest. When you present your project to our partner, you must next have confidence that the answers we seek will come. Following behind your confidence is patience. The answers do not often come in the timeframe and manner that you expect.
Patience is the companion of wisdom. Saint Augustine

There was a man who had to start life over after a divorce. He needed a better job. He needed money fast. What he did have was some valuable antiques he had restored that he could sell. He looked up Antique Dealers in the phone book. He went to visit one likely prospect. The dealer was not interested in buying more furniture, he had a warehouse full. The dealer was interested in the mans restoration skills. One job found. One money problem solved. The man was not looking for a job at the moment, but that job later developed into a new business and a new life. Coincidence? My experience says this is more than coincidence.

TOOL
The most important part of using your partner is following the direction given, another words DOING IT. He will seem difficult to hear, and sometimes difficult to understand the direction. Many times it will seem difficult to act on this direction.

We are so accustomed to doing everything ourselves, with our personal tools, it will be difficult to let go and follow an unseen guide. But that is where our best ideas come from, always. Now you are aware of where these ideas come from. These examples of events shared above, are intended to show how the guidance of your partner works in your life. We have all experienced these kinds of events. We may have marveled at them but not given them any more thought. It is very important that we give these kinds of events great appreciation. Our appreciation becomes gratitude. That new gratitude enables us to see more examples of these kinds of events in our lives. More importantly at that

point we attract even more benefic events to our lives. Remember the expression like attracts like? It is real. Our gratitude attracts more benevolent events in our life. Now life gets a lot less frightful.

Correlation
You may be asking what these nice stories have to do with achieving your dream. Each of us is so different from another, it is futile to try and give definite rules that can apply in the situations in everyones life. It cannot be done. What can be done is to show you a process how you can tap into an unlimited resource that can bring you the direction you seek.
Chance favors the prepared mind. Louis Pasteur

PEOPLE INTERESTED IN YOUR CHANGE

When we are in the middle of our life and we desire to change the focus of our life, we have vested interests to consider. These vested interests are spouse, children, and employer and so on. These interests have come to expect tomorrow what they experienced yesterday. And you want to change that? You thought refocusing YOUR life was difficult. You now have a list of others to refocus also. It is like the Verizonwireless support staff you see in the commercials. But, you can do it, one step at a time. And that is what you will see how to manage at this stage of your refocus project. What we forget is that those around us are really just concern that we are able to provide answers to their concerns. Their number one concern is change. No one likes change. But even more, we need know that the person who is responsible for our well being is in control of the situation. We depend on this for our personal comfort and security.

There is a downside to this observation. When we are thinking of what others will think, we become overwhelmed with the immensity of the project and we are inclined to quit before we begin. Really, what is needed is to present our proposed change in a way that assures those that depend on us that we are in control of the situation and we all will like the result. They are concerned that we have thought out the details and consequences of our proposed change and that we have their worries in mind. They are concerned that you care about them and that the proposed change is going to make their lives better also. When we have addressed the concerns of those that are around us, we can move forward. It is vital that we who are changing keep those vested interests in our life informed about our progress. Sometimes that progress will be backward or sideways. That is OK with them when you keep them informed because they know you have their concerns in your mind and they will feel less anxious. People do not like surprises in matters of their personal security! Even bad news is accepted when we are forthright and they know we are still in the drivers seat. This is a very vital thing to keep in mind when dealing with others. No surprises and you are still in the drivers seat. What happens when after all your effort you fail? Remember you are not a failure, the proposed change failed. There is a very big difference between the two. When you have kept your vested interests informed, they feel like they are on the team. Then when you succeed or fail, they, your team succeed or fail likewise. But the key is when they feel like a team member, they can accept the less than desired results because at least WE tried. It becomes a game, a game of life, and not life itself. Then the failure or success is kept in perspective.
The temptation when the path to success gets too bumpy is to leap back into the comfort zone. Don't. Keep pushing forward, always forward. The comfort zone is the land of dreams and wishes. Success is the land of results, where all those dreams come true. Mark Burnett Founder of the Eco-Challenge

WORKSHOPS
WORKSHOP 1
Take many small steps. Now lets see how you could do that with your dream. Lets look at two examples in a workshop format.

Example one, you are a mid level bank executive. You have been in the banking business since graduating from the university. You are successful but you dont see yourself advancing much further. You have been thinking of what you would like to do with your life. The thought of doing the same thing day in and day out for another 20 years does not thrill you. What does thrill you? When you were at the university you had the opportunity to know a woodcarver. He was a kindly older gentleman. You enjoyed listening to him talk on subjects of life. While listening to him, you watched with rapt attention how he took a gnarly old piece of tree branch and in a short while made a charming figure.
No fine work can be done without concentration and self-sacrifice and toil and doubt.

Max Beerbohm
You have reached a time in your life that you have the kind of life experience that carver had. Maybe it is time to learn carving. But how do you begin? One thing you have learned as a banker is that there are associations for everything it seems. Lets see what the internet shows. There is a National Association of Wood Carvers and they have a chapter right here in your city. You attend the next weekly meeting and find a very diverse group of very amiable carvers. Each is excited about what they do and they are very happy to share their knowledge and experience. Exciting is not a concept bankers are accustomed to. You buy some basic tools and some basic instruction books. It does not take long to see that you really have a gift for carving eagles. You have researched bird anatomy and eagle habitat. You are especially intrigued by the Amazon Fishing Eagle. Five years have come and gone. You have become a acknowledged artist in carving Amazon Fishing Eagles. You sell your carvings for several thousand dollars each. You could carve more but there is only limited time evenings and weekends. It is evident that your heart is in your carving and it is becoming increasingly difficult to start work on Monday mornings. Maybe it is time to consider changing your profession. The problem is you have a bankers personal financial overhead. You have a mortgage, car payment, your son and daughters university expenses and so on. This is a real problem. As a banker you have learned that solutions can be found if we look for them. Where to start. The two biggest expenses are the mortgage and university

expenses. We could sell the house and use the equity to buy a smaller home. The children could attend less expensive universities or get financial aid to stay where they are.
Deliberation is the work of many men. Action, of one alone. Charles de Gaulle-Former General of France who by his strength of will pushed conquered Frances position to equal Great Britain and the USA After WW II in occupied Germany Former President of France

Next is the car payment. Sell the car and buy a less prestige model that would cost much less and have a much smaller payment. Stop using credit cards to reduce debt expense and become used to less spending lifestyle. And so slowly reducing the bankers financial overhead to make it more feasible to live on a carvers income. The change in lifestyle will result in some new social relations. Some people will not appreciate the frugal lifestyle and others will. Many choices will lead to new experiences that will broaden your outlook. We described a transition plan. That was the easy part! Now, to make it happen we proceed one day at a time, one project at a time. Before we know it we are on the moon. The first step will be to present this to your family and helping them see the value of the change. We have a tendency to think that others see us as we see them. When we have this conversation with our family we may be surprises that they see our life very differently.
The guy who takes a chance, who walks the line between the known and unknown, who is unafraid of failure, will succeed.

Gordon Parks
We may find that our spouse has been concerned about your physical health and emotional stress for a long time. Our university student children will work with us also. The key is to realize that a family is a team and our team members really care about us and are very glad to participate with our venture. Have you considered that maybe your spouse is ready for a change also? Realistically, life sometimes is more difficult than presented here in this workshop. Remember as a negotiator we must make this a win-win situation for all concerned.

For example for our wife the win may be less house to maintain or simpler meals to prepare. Or for health reasons a one level house would be preferred and build on that position. The idea is to trying to see how others see their life and see us. It will take some thought and some time to develop a picture you will work with in your win-win strategy. This is where our project management program benefits your presentation. We need to be patient to see our vested interest differently than we have before. Remember, we are looking for a new viewpoint of others and how we can help them see us and our situation differently. This is a good time to step back and listen to the still small voice that offers guidance and insight into our situation.
"We are continually faced by great opportunities brilliantly disguised as insoluble problems." Lee Iococca Former CEO of Chrysler Corp

WORKSHOP 2
Example two is a woman who spends her days caring for her small children. Although she feels very fulfilled as a mother she would really love to be able to pursue her love of oil painting. She studied fine art in the university and she developed a very pleasing style of painting by the time she married her husband five years ago. Now the tedium of diapers and child talk are causing her to look for a way to exercise her adult artistic self. She considers options. As anyone who has had small children, artist colors and small children mix very well, too well. This is going to be a very critical challenge to overcome. Fortunately her husband found a nice looking trunk that had a lock she could put her colors and brushes in, out of the way of curious fingers. Now the question is when to open this treasure trunk. Her husband gets up at 6AM and the children around 7AM. That means if she got up at 5 AM she would have one hour maybe two before her role as mother began. That would mean she has to go to bed an hour earlier than now.

DO IT
In the two examples above the solutions may seem simplistic, but life is a series of simple solutions strung together. It does not take a grand change to make your dream fulfilled. It takes a series of small changes tied together to

achieve your goal. The ageless secrets from the lives of successful people that you have read reinforce this.
Nothing is particularly hard if you divide it into small jobs. Henry Ford

Henry Ford revolutionized auto making exercising this simple principle. Your dream can not be as complex as making an automobile, so you too can make great things happen, small step by small step. Remember, you will stumble. You may fall. That is part of the quest. Think back to American history. We rebelled against the worlds number one super power at that time. George Washington as not the greatest general and he did not have even a real army to start with. What he did have was perseverance. He just kept coming back to the game. Finally, the British gave up. The exact same thing happened to us two centuries later in Vietnam. Perseverance is the one single factor in ALL great accomplishments in life. Think back to your first year of college. You were overwhelmed by the demands yet you had an overriding goal of graduating and you persevered and behold, you succeeded. This new step in your life is just another challenge to overcome and your success depends on not giving up.
There are some things which cannot be learned quickly, and time, which is all we have, must be paid heavily for their acquiring. Ernest Hemingway Death In The Afternoon

Universal Truth

You already have all the resources within yourself that are necessary for you to change. All you must do now is make the decision to change.
When people learned to let go and trust, they got what they wanted more often than not, and it came much easier than if they fought for it. Choose what you want and let bring it to you. Try to remember that the picture you think, feel and see is reflected into the Universal Mind, and by the natural law of reciprocal action must return to you in either spiritual or physical form. Genevieve Behrend in her 1921 book, Your Invisible Power : We don't attract what we want, but what we are. Only by changing your thoughts will you change your life. The point of Afformations is not to find the answer to your questions. The point is to change what your mind automatically FOCUSES ON. The Afformations Method, you will FORM positive questions that assume that what you want is already true. When you do this, your mind has no choice but to find a way to make it true. Asking that kind of empowering question automatically focuses your mind on what you HAVE vs. what you LACK. Once you ask a question of your mind, whether you know it or not, your mind automatically starts to Search for the answer without your conscious volition and virtually without effort on your part. Why is it so easy to be successful in all that I do? Why is my health so good all of the time? Why am I able to be so financially successful? Why is my trading so phenomenally successful? Why do I have such a wonderful lovely wife?

Set an intention. An intention is your declaration about your dream, or goal, that you want to be, do, or have. This is your request of your subconscious, unconscious, and the universe itself. The clearer your intention, the better your results. You can ask for whatever you want to do, be, or have, but also be willing for the universe to give you something better. End all of your requests with the phrase, This or something better, and you will be letting the universe know that Thy will be done is of highest importance.

We do not attract what we want, but what we are. Achievement happens because you as a person embody the external achievement; you dont get success but become it. There is no gap between mind and matter. James Allen
